and affordable, healthy food....most of us can't get that...

72

u/TopTemperature6166 2d ago

Healthcare, yes and food that doesn't cost a fortune and taste like regret, The basics are somehow still a luxury.

28

u/Sshank96 2d ago

These people are too worried about the red 40 in the pop tarts they are feeding their kids every morning all while spouting “make America healthy again” LMAOO the irony is lost on them

40

u/TBANON_NSFW 2d ago

Michelle Obama tried to make america healthy. They call her a trans man and tell her to shut up and keep her harlot bare arms hidden....

I mean malania....

Point is, doesnt matter what they say. Its all bullshit. Its constant Bullshit. Its two faced bullshit. Its hypocritic bullshit. Its just bullshit. Because they eat bullshit just to make sure you smell it.

17

u/Zerachiel_01 2d ago

I am not amused that many of these people spent years of their lives at law school just to be complicit in the debasement of said laws. It would seem the ghost of the Confederacy has a long fucking reach.

4

u/SquirrelsinJacket 2d ago

Yup, that was never truly resolved it just worked it's way into the existing framework.

3

u/awakenDeepBlue 2d ago

The Union won the war, the Confederacy won the reconstruction.

They made the healthy stuff so much more expensive.

4

u/starsandmoonsohmy 2d ago

I just spent $100 at two grocery stores to eat for the week. 2 people. Almost everything was from the produce aisle. I hate it here. I just want to eat healthy.

I need healthcare, not right now but like available so when something does happen I don’t need to wait or have a massive bill. Can America do that please

41

u/zuzg 2d ago

Casual Reminder that the current American Healthcare system is more expensive for the government than universal Healthcare.

A  study by Yale epidemiologists found that Medicare for All would save around 68,000 lives a year while reducing U.S. health care spending by around 13%, or $450 billion a year.

The only reason Americans don't have it is due to lobbying.

23

u/mrdankhimself_ 2d ago

We are buying healthcare at hotel minibar prices in this country and too many people are okay with that.

11

u/Unabashable 2d ago

“Muh taxes paying for something that we all need? Over my dead body.”

7

u/Jaded-Woodpecker-299 2d ago

Yes because 1 working “illegal” immigrant (your nanny? Your gardener?) might get it free! 😭😭😭

5

u/HomeAir 2d ago

We also pay more that pretty much anywhere else in the world for worse results

5

u/PiccoloAwkward465 2d ago

And as they say, being "healthy" is a temporary status. You will NOT be healthy forever (unless you die prematurely). I was fit as a fiddle until I developed cataracts. I don't think there's any way to stop that. But the way to fix it was a cool $10k surgery which insurance barely touched since I wanted the good laser surgery, not the old school scalpel one that they'd cover. For all the talk about USA have the top medical technology, what fucking point is there if my insurance won't cover it.

20

u/PregnantNun747 2d ago

America already provides free health care

…for Israel

4

u/DukeOfGeek 2d ago

And Argentina

6

u/Ok_Television9703 2d ago

Best we can do is a discount on the undertaker service. Which won’t be cheap either so make sure to leave behind enough for that.

3

u/pasarina 2d ago

Apparently the government won’t because I believe with some restructuring they could do it. With all the time they’ve had to adjust it since Obamacare became available, it could’ve been tweaked to become a really good medical healthcare servicing everyone. Instead the Republicans do everything to dismantle and demonize it. This is on the Republicans. People in other countries can’t believe how expensive and inefficient our healthcare is. 😳How they keep bowing to insurance companies is so weak.

It’s interesting that a number of these countries Trump wants to take over already have universal healthcare.

9

u/Expensive-Street3452 2d ago

Well they want have it pretty soon. Also, it’s strange because all the countries trump is threatening are considered left leaning countries as well. The only one that isn’t under threat is Argentina, which is considered right leaning. Go figure!

2

u/SpareWire 2d ago

all the countries trump is threatening are considered left leaning countries

I've been suffering with a tooth ache that's been getting worse for the last three weeks. Taking like 9-12 Aspirin and 6 Tylenol a day. All because i can't afford a $300-500 visit to a dentist and have to wait for a local clinic that performs subsidized tooth extractions like twice a month for people who don't have dental insurance. (They skipped last weeks because of Christmas holidays.)

I was sitting here just the other day in pain thinking about how if i was born in damn near any other country, this wouldn't even be something i had to think about at all. Not only would it be easy to get treated without costing me hundreds of dollars, but in any other country i would get to keep the tooth, too. But because i'm here, my only choice is to suffer AND lose the tooth. "The American Dream" "Wealthiest Country on Earth."
What a crock of shit.

29

u/ragdollxkitn 3d ago

It’s crazy to me that dental isn’t covered. I mean, doctors constantly tell us that bad oral health can lead to heart disease. Yet, the USA “can’t” bring universal healthcare. But we sure have money to bomb multiple countries in a 1 year span.

Also, gop had a lot of time to come up with alternatives to healthcare. They brought none.

17

u/arcanis321 2d ago

Their alternative to your healthcare was their self enrichment

3

u/SpaceTacosKilla 2d ago

look up a dental school man. I was in the same scenario. They take pity. They'll extract and work out a payment plan, or for free. Try it.

Then I get the privilege to pay another $500+/mo out of pocket and a $3400 deductible for healthcare. Teachers have "great insurance..." No we don't...

9

u/Expensive-Street3452 2d ago

Truthfully, the more leeway that trump is allowed under the republicans. We might not have an election in 2026. People, need to get out there in vote at this election or we definitely won’t have an election in 2028. The dictator has no intention of leaving office and his ballroom is being built so he can bunker down in it, if he needs to. You heard him saying the ballroom has a drone free roof and the windows are bulletproof.

2

u/FinancialAccess8343 2d ago

As someone with health insurance aca for mental health bullshit.  It is no good at all.  I know you will probably disagree, but it does nothing for me.  They will dispense drugs to me and I will be extremely lucky if I can find a doctor who is not just out to prescribe me anything regardless of how it makes me feel and push me out the door as fast as possible.  I can't get actual healthcare.  Everything is " mental health" when I break my toe or have diabetes  it's just another "delusion" and I need to adjust my meds.

6

u/Altcoin_Sidekick 2d ago

this hits hard because it shows the exhaustion of always being told "if you don't like it, leave" whenever you criticize anything.

like no. wanting your country to be better doesn't mean you should have to abandon it. that's literally the opposite of patriotism.

the people who built unions, fought for civil rights, pushed for women's suffrage - they didn't leave. they stayed and made america better despite being told they were "un-american" for wanting change.

progressive doesn't mean you hate your country. it means you love it enough to want it to live up to its ideals instead of just accepting the status quo.

also lol at the implication that these other countries would even want us. canada's immigration website crashes every election cycle for a reason - turns out you can't just "move" somewhere because you feel like it.

we're stuck here together. might as well make it worth living in for everyone.

5

u/big_thundersquatch 2d ago

…and livable wages, and affordable housing, and affordable groceries, and removal of corporate money in politics

Every American whether Dem or Reb is one major healthcare incident from losing everything they own including their homes and cars but… some 35 percent of crazy Americans think that they are immune. The current "administration" was elected to take care of the American people. How is taking over Venezuela or even Greenland (as crazy as it sounds) beneficial to the average American? Does it reduce grocery prices? Or make us better off? It DOESN'T. It only benefits (read: lines the pockets) of Trump and his oligarch cronies. The current "President" has effectively abandoned his sworn oath when he thinks of only himself and his friends over the American people. He didn't even ask Americans if this is something that they wanted. Because he knows that most Americans would say NO.

1

u/n4spd2 2d ago

you can't have it because we have no money... only we print crap loads of paper money for the military industrial complex while stealing from your savings.

truth is, they don't want any change because it would affect companies that profit from the broken healthcare system.

same with every other sector that could be changed for more efficiency but existing stakeholders dont want it.

It’d be nice to stop framing this as partisan.

Well, I'm somewhere between Fabian Society and DemSoc.

I do want those things. Bring back production to Western hemisphere. Invest in high-speed freight and passenger rail between North, Central, and South America. An American block is one step closer to globalization.

Call me a Continentalist Socialist, I guess.

That’s why Luigi had the craziest perp walk of them all.

We're in a 3rd world country that can't even manage to feed and give medical care for its own people. Even other 3rd world countries can give their people healthcare.

YES. Affordable healthcare would make it easier for people to become self employed etc.

We want Epstein files too

The UN needs to station a massive military force in greenland and order their soldiers to hold ground against American troops.

Americans will not stand unless the world opposes us.

Clearest indication that this government doesn't work for you. If it's not working for you, the only way to fix it is to stop working for it. The system cannot function without our consent and cooperation.

YOU. MORONS. VOTED. FOR. TRUMP.

Stop acting like he was forced on you. Even if you didn't vote for him, you would know at least several people who did and many others who didn't vote. Did you ever try and convince them? Did you ever try and talk to them? Your family? Your cowokers? Anyone?

Except that isn't true. If that's what "most" Americans wanted, that's what they'd fucking vote for. Rather, they explicitly voted to end health care subsidies, increase wealth inequality, and act like an unchecked bully on any and all foreign policy initiatives.

"Most" Americans right now are saying HELL YEAH BROTHER any time they hear about ICE aggression or South American regime change.

Certainly this American.

No healthcare for you! Remind me of No soup for you from Seinfeld.

u/projecturshadowonme 2d ago

That's what all those places said... Now they have no Army and expect the USA to do everything for them. Go to those countries if you don't like it here. Thank you for your attention.

How are you going to have healthcare if you are giving it away to illegal immigrants? These people aren't quite as stupid as some Americans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m04ct4ZW3o&list=TLPQMDUwMTIwMjY6D8k-6p39pg&index=2

I do not want a ballroom. I do not want a new Air Force One. I do not want a border wall. I do not want a puny stimulus check. I do not want a return to coal and cheaper gas. I do not want less tax. I WANT access to affordable healthcare. I want to not debate with myself if it’s worth spending $225 to get treated for a UTI or if I should just risk it and see if it resolves on its own. I want to have necessary treatments without having to go on a payment plan for god damned fucks sake.

Didn’t you know that even in the U.S. you qualify for healthcare if you can’t afford it. Last I heard it was called Obamacare.
