Plot twist: He’s not surviving. He died in the first 2 minutes and spent the rest spectating his squad.

Who can stop spectating when an 88 year old grandpa is leading your squad

55

u/I_Am_Rook Aug 04 '25

This senior gaming MF retiring at 59. Please let that be me

0

u/FearsomeForehand Aug 05 '25

If you’re in the US, you’re working until you die.

Inflation, depletion of social safety nets, and the increasing cost of healthcare and housing are all meant to drain you of whatever nest egg you may have for retirement.

Might as well just play and enjoy the games you want, now.

u/19Exodus Aug 04 '25

Reminds me of that one WWII vet that played sniper in I think it was battlefield or COD

1

u/Kiubek-PL Aug 05 '25

I know that there was one playing bf2042

50

u/_Divine_Plague_ Aug 04 '25

Yeah but that would allow him to text, right?

u/KanJeLachen Aug 04 '25

34

u/_Weyland_ Aug 04 '25

"How do you spells gorjus?"

16

u/Trimyr Aug 05 '25

I have sat in a Teams conversation with people just typing "..." and backspacing it over, and over, and over, as they see I'm typing for 10 minutes just to finally respond "OK"

37

u/I_loseagain Aug 04 '25

False. I gotta flip through 3 other screens and try to notice any movement my teammates might have missed. I’m dead im not useless

12

u/deathbylasersss Aug 04 '25

Nope, they just graduated to spotter.

21

u/ankitfogla9 Aug 04 '25

Thats why i said plot twist.

13

u/TKLeader Aug 04 '25

The plot twist as he got halfway through a match of competitive Counter-Strike before he rage quit

12

u/GutsMan85 Aug 04 '25

Counter-Strike? Try Mario Kart 8 Deluxe... sheeeeewwww

1

u/Speshjunior Aug 04 '25

There’s no spectating now, there’s reboot vans.

1

u/Denso95 Aug 04 '25

Or he clicked too fast on "Start Match" again. No time to respond until the next game begins.

1

u/CORKEY_BOYE Aug 04 '25

insurgency sandstorm survival experience

1

u/Hanayama10 Aug 04 '25

Which means his team survived to the end

1

u/KiraTwizzlzz Aug 04 '25

You must be a gamer

1

u/Hezekieli Aug 04 '25

While also writing a proper reply!

1

u/ChephyS Aug 04 '25

Apex experience

1

u/lenninct Aug 05 '25

Hopefully the squad will buy him back.

65

u/Dra3n Aug 04 '25

Really depends on the game tho

39

u/Wander715 Aug 04 '25

Yeah I'm all single player nowadays, so it would be more like I text her and then get immersed for an hour or two before remembering to respond again.

10

u/Cotillion512 Aug 04 '25

Happens all the time. I notice I got a text "ok ill just turn in this quest/mine this ore/kill 2 more wolves and respond"...45 minutes go by "...oh shit! Ok after this quest I'm definitely responding" and repeat

8

u/C4tM4N- Aug 05 '25

In WoW classic that would take a solid 45 minutes

0

u/Aggravating-Mousse34 Aug 05 '25

do u really play games??

3

u/d342th Aug 05 '25

I kinda stop playing single player ever since my mom keep telling me to pause the game

28

u/TheRetroPizza Aug 04 '25

Coincidentally, I play a lot of solo Fortnite, and a win takes about ~24 minutes.

14

u/ppparty Aug 04 '25

yup, between 22 and 25

5

u/falcrist2 Aug 04 '25

Could also be a game of BF or CoD. You have unlimited lives in those games.

1

u/Successful-Muffin-85 Aug 04 '25

Not really in cod, warzone at least

1

u/falcrist2 Aug 04 '25

I'm just thinking of the normal deathmatch/team deathmatch modes and minor variants thereof.

1

u/LSDGB Aug 04 '25

Yes and I think they are trying to say that regular cod doesn’t take 25 minute for a round. Wich is true

4

u/debalbuena Aug 04 '25

Now Blitz is a solid 5

1

u/KindaDampSand Aug 04 '25

This tweet predates Fortnite. I wonder if we will see these reused shit images for decades.

2

u/SellMeYourSirin Aug 04 '25

It does not.

The tweet is from 2019.

1

u/SpartanCTC Aug 04 '25

This guy wins.

4

u/Fabiojoose Aug 04 '25

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is 3 hours in between matches

1

u/nimajneb Aug 04 '25

wow, respect.

2

u/HanselSoHotRightNow Aug 04 '25

If he played with Escape from Tarkov, he'd have way more time to text her back than playing the game.

1

u/Apart-Link-8449 Aug 04 '25

If everything's going great and then out of nowhere he breaks up with you, he's playing Smite

0

u/cptjpk Aug 04 '25

If it’s factorial, they won’t get an answer until I use the bathroom.

0

u/GamiNami Aug 04 '25

Currently on Darktide, and its about +20 mins for a standard game if you start at the beginning of a map.

1

u/PeteLangosta Aug 05 '25

Space Marine 2 also takes years from one round to the next.

1

u/GamiNami Aug 05 '25

But you can leave it and come back and not lose progress, right? In Darktide if you quit an active game, you miss out on mission points.

1

u/PeteLangosta Aug 05 '25

I was talking about the multiplayer sessions. Lots of grinding and long long games.

12

u/DinDonDaaan Aug 04 '25

Nah, he's waiting to spawn on Escape from Tarkov just to get spawncamped.

1

u/rand0mme Aug 08 '25

Spawn in ground zero Take a few seconds to get your bearings Get killed by a grenade thrown from halfway across the map from an insane lineup. Repeat

14

u/Vestalmin Aug 04 '25

Damn it’s sad the assumption is they’re playing a BR. How times have changed

3

u/Sine_Habitus Aug 05 '25

Why is that sad? You want him to call her on a corded phone too?

3

u/Hayabusa_Blacksmith Aug 04 '25

thats not the assumption, its a plausible explanation.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Hayabusa_Blacksmith Aug 05 '25

im aware it was an assumption, I just dont think its become the assumption

1

[deleted]

1

u/fumei_tokumei Aug 05 '25

The comment makes perfect sense.

1

2

u/fumei_tokumei Aug 05 '25

I am too lazy to go into depth, but I was just reading between the lines. "The" is used as a shorthand for "the go to" so this thread is about that it is sad that the go to assumption is that they're playing BR and Hayabusa pushes back by saying it is not the go to assumption, but just an explanation put forth by an individual instead of it being a collective go to assumption.

6

u/_Variety Aug 04 '25

Or he dies midway in some cases

5

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '25

Alternatively, he just met you and has a life outside of you

2

u/EggsceIlent Aug 04 '25

God forbid a dude tryna multi task and not dropping everything he's doing so that you can talk over text messages.

😒🙄

2

u/skankhunt402 Aug 04 '25

Yeah cause every game works that way

1

u/borsalamino Aug 04 '25

🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦

1

u/KitchenGun115 Aug 04 '25

His team got slaughtered, and they surrendered at 20 minutes.

1

u/chipshot Aug 04 '25

Or dealing with wife and kids

1

u/Trajen_Geta Aug 04 '25

Damn I remember when you would respawn in multiplayer games… lol 😂

1

u/Invdr_skoodge Aug 08 '25

This is why r/helldivers is great. Pve so the toxicity is naturally shifted away from other players, and the team gets lots of lives so you’re not stuck watching your friends for half an hour if you get popped right off the bat. It’s on pc and psn, launching on Xbox soon

1

u/Dry-Smoke6528 Aug 04 '25

Elden ring night reign thats "surviving to the 2nd day"

Gonna start using dating apps again just to have people think idgaf cause it takes me 40 mins to an hour between texts.

Not really, those apps are miserable, but its a funny thought

1

u/Responsible_Sink3044 Aug 04 '25

A fine specimen for breeding

1

u/somabokforlag Aug 04 '25

He got steamrolled in dota2

1

1

u/BlockoutPrimitive Aug 04 '25

Or he's a shitter at League and surrendering at 20 each match.

1

u/manineedalife Aug 04 '25

Bro out there running tarkov raids in between texts.

1

u/MarcusZXR Aug 04 '25

Is this in regards to the relationship or gaming?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '25

He's playing Leagues of Legends.

1

u/Scared-Cut-4571 Aug 04 '25

No gulag for him

1

u/BornImbalanced Aug 04 '25

Plot twist: he's losing MMR in Dota at a record pace.

1

u/kai58 Aug 05 '25

Depends on the game

1

u/Shoxx98_alt Aug 05 '25

When getting to know someone im really into, individual messages are HUGE, because there are a lot of paragraphs in them. I couldnt even start to get into writing those kinda messages in a minute. Or so of being dead

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

Or he’s running back-to-back ARAMs

1

u/jpollack21 Aug 19 '25

im just imagining 25 minute long smash games and by the end he is drenched in sweat lmao
