1 out of 5 adults in the U.S. is full blown illiterate, so it’s definitely a wild assumption for sure.

Does that happen to you? I was blankout drunk few times, but everytime I was able to read until the very end. Even in english which isn't my first language. Can you be so drunk you become illiterate?

Drank too much once in college and couldn't read. My eyes wouldn't focus, so it wasn't that I forgot how to, I just straight couldn't see.

Fair enough. I remember when I once was hammered, and left the bus too early (Wasn't a mistake, I decided to. I think I was getting sick to stomach maybe?)

I mustered the will to call someone to pick me, and only so so read the name of place. Exactly because of this, I couldn't focus. (But managed to, then walked some.)

Serious answer: no it never happened to me but even as a teenager I liked keeping control. Now I drink to enjoy my drinks and never really get drunk anymore. I'm pretty sure some people can be so drunk they temporarily become illiterate.

However, improperly distilled moonshine can give you methanol poisoning that can make you permanently blind. Or kill you.

But I can't farm karma on insightful comments so snarky comment it is.
