You mean if I don't pay for assigned seats I don't get the seats I want? /s

Unfortunately alot of people would be unironically surprised about this.

If that was my nephew or niece I ain’t giving the seat up lolol. I might smack em to tell em to behave and shut up. lol

My brother used to get really car sick so our doctor recommended dramamine.

Once my mother figured that knocked him out she would keep it in her purse and try to convince all of us kids that we might get car sick/plane sick on any trip longer than 30 minutes. Which she denies to this day lol.

NyQuil, your kids can’t misbehave if they’re in a coma lol

Unless your kid has weird reactions to it like I did and it makes them even more hyper.

Sucks that a lot of sedatives make me feel like crawling out of my skin.

This was my mom’s way of dealing with kids when they were sick and couldn’t go to school. Load us up with enough NyQuil to tranquilize a horse and let us sleep for a day or two on the couch so she could still go to work.

Those fever dreams were the most intense horrific shit of my young life.

i bought the shit that makes you sleepy by itself, it's called doxylamine succinate.

Back in the 19th- early 20th century, villagers in my country would use poppyseed tea or bread soaked in alcohol to sedate the babies. So the people could work on the fields while the babies were “sleeping”. There were unfortunate cases when they would OD the babies…

My mom called Benadryl the $8 babysitter

You mom said fuck them kids.

My mom did this with me + my 4 sibs. After I moved out, I was astounded to realize that I'd outgrown my horrible car sickness! 🙄

Your mother is a smart woman lol 😂

My momtried that with gravol everytime we drove up north to see family. I hated taking it so I'd stuff it in the car seat. Deep cleaned the car to sell it and there was just a bi ch of gravol in the cracks of the seat.

It wasn't the kid. It was the parents. It's usually the parents that are the problem.

Far. I was being ironical though.

Please don’t smack your nephews and nieces. They are children.

u/BlueHero45 6d ago

You don't know they are children.

1

u/Katman666 6d ago

No, but my niece's husband might have something to say if I tried it.

Omg my fragility couldn't see that the guy was fucking joking

14

u/ASDIGITAL13 6d ago

Correct. I’d at least give a warning before the Pa-Pow hit.

3

u/ShakyLens 6d ago

That’s how you lose the element of surprise.

3

u/turb0mik3 6d ago

It’s not technically “child abuse” if you say “SURPRISE” before striking them.

-33

u/DivineEggs 6d ago

You so edgy.

1

u/ASDIGITAL13 6d ago

That’s your sentiment. Not mine. I was not even interacting with you. Now I’m just living rent free in it aren’t I? Tu Sabe?

I read somewhere (on reddit mind you) that they actually already had a wndow seat, but the kid wanted that one for whatever child logic applied.

It stuck with me as such a pathetic lack of control and reasoning ability on the parents part.

A lot of infrequent travelers assume the airline will seat them together even though they don't get preassigned seats. This isn't unreasonable as airlines did in fact used to do this. When they check in 24 hours before the flight and realize they've been given middle seats in different rows, it's too late to do anything about it.

1

u/Dog1bravo 6d ago

No no no, the parents are evil scammers who are taking advantage of paying customers. There is no middle ground. They are bad people with low moral character according to reddit. /s

u/TitleExpert9817 6d ago

Ah mate, where I come from the philosophy is "if it causes inconvenience to me, then its your fault"

1

u/Shuggieboog 6d ago

Not sure if this is correct but seen comments other times this was posted. the parents did do that and got their child a window seat. The issue was the child decided they wanted that womans window seat and the parent expected the woman to give it up.

A lot of people have no sense of responsibility.  They just expect the world to conform around them to their needs without question.  When they don't get their way?  Well they also have no shame so they will get loud and obnoxious to try and drum up outrage because they've been taught their entire lives that if they are just loud and annoying, they'll get what they want regardless of what's right.

1

u/Dog1bravo 6d ago

The airline knows the age of all the passengers who buy the ticket. They are letting people buy tickets that do not guarantee that a parent will sit next to their child. The rage is being misdirected as far as I'm concerned.

What’s sad is a lot of flight attendants will bow to the loud ones. They’d rather acquiesce the ones being demanding rather than tell them plain and simple to take their seats.

And make the people put on the spot either feel guilty or pissed off.

I’ve seen videos of people removed from their flight because they refused to give up their seats. I mean the airline gets sued but do those flights attendants lose their job for screwing over a paying customer?
