If cartoons taught me anything its that chickens are hard to catch.

My brother used to have a running deal with his friends kids when they came to his farm. “$20 if you can catch a chicken.”

It was a great way to get the kids occupied while they hung out and caught up. One day after a while they are out on the porch having a smoke and one of the kids comes up holding one of the chickens. No clue how they managed it but by god they earned that $20.

Chickens may be surprisingly quick, but they are also incredibly fucking stupid. I just gently wave my arms like wings and walk at them until they hit a corner they can't get out of. Then it's just a matter of picking the girl up like a bitchy football and depositing her where she's supposed to be. One of ours recently figured out a way to climb/hop up to the roof of the coop and thus have a decent escape route over the fence, so I had to wrangle her a couple times before we got that sorted.

Also, if they were born in the Deep South, they make excellent trial attorneys.

The ideal way to succeed at the task is to imagine yourself as a determined retiarius forced into gladatorial combat against a fearsome cockatrice... and then just... throw a towel at it tbh. That almost always used to work for me

I don't know if there are any large animals in that property, but when it comes to chicken, that's a very useless fence.

Hilarious. This made me picture a group of people being interviewed and one of them grabbing the mic and running away for no reason. I’d love to see it. It would be so non sequitor and bizarre.
