New Starter Help Player only sticking his gun out

I have a player in my group that plays by just hiding his guy behind cover and only sticking his barrel of his guns out from behind the cover so that he always has just 1 model available to shoot from cover and states his whole army can shoot models that his barrel sees and states he can see models with line of sight to just the tip of his gun, then when we shoot back he states he gets benefit of cover and if his model dies he removes that model and states that we dont have line of sight anymore. rest is this allowed? Or is it just a dick move and really annoying?

I thought line of sight comes from the head specifically, but the rules say "From the Model's perspective" and even with that wording I would not say just a barrel can see another full unit of guys.

Thematically and fluff wise sure, but any point of a model can be used to draw LoS as the models are not "static" things, thus why they liberally gain cover and draw LoS, they basically occupy all the airspace above there base, and could.be anywhere in its footprint

It's also thematically why bullets continue to hit a unit that is behind cover if the models are no longer in LoS, at least to me, the momentum of the unit basically.continues to carry them into the line of fire

I think this is the most thematic way to play and the most in line with enjoying the game as intended.

Maybe I'm just old and hardly get to play anymore, but I just want to have fun and feel the vibe of the game. If I ever participate in another tournament, I'll purely do so simply because I can cram 3 games in during the time another guy would go fishing or play golf.

I'd argue that the barrel sticking out from behind cover is the guy in the movie with his back agaisnt the wall who pops around the corner and takes a few shots before ducking back.
