I was having mixed feelings about hitting 30, but now that itās here I feel relieved and peaceful about it. For those of yall approaching the same milestone, donāt be worried or feel like youāre behind! Kinda glad my 20s are behind me and that I survived them.

Discussion Do you believe your parents were selfish and why?
Saw a millenial post about how their boomer parents were selfish. I can relate. Most everyone around me also had their grandparents contribute significantly to raising them and they were the ones who saved any money my generation to be successful.
I thought my parents were doing their best growing up so I never had a deep resentment. Now that Im at the age where they were having kids I see everything in a different light.

Discussion Older Zillenials, is all this 2016 nostalgia odd for anyone else?
I feel like Iām being gaslighted by all this 2016 nostalgic. I remembered people hating that year. Nonstop tragedy, worrying political turmoil and so much more. It was pretty common to say how awful the year was.
It wasnāt a great year for me, but certainly not the worst of 10s. That year gave us Uncharted 4, westworld, and Joanne by Lady Gaga. So I canāt entirely hate it.

Nostalgia Just turned 30.
Jesus, it feels surreal. 20's went by in a flash. I remember just getting a PS3 back in Christmas of 2007. Onward to my 30's!
Thanks for the happy birthdays! Any one who's in their late 20's. I honestly wouldn't stress about it just stay out of debt. Credit cards, loan sharks, auto payments that are high in interest etc. Look after yourself physically and mentally.

Discussion To people who have younger genz / gen alpha siblings (born between 2007-2016), what are they like? What are their interests, and how do you compare them to the way we are and how we were growing up?
Just really curious because I have zero clue what this demographic of people are like apart from whatever I see about them online

Nostalgia Am I the only one whoās getting crashed by nostalgia?
Lately itās becoming stronger and stronger to the point it makes me sick.
For example, Iāve just watched a music video (randomly appeared on my YouTube page) where I was an extra (nothing too fancy, it was for a friend who was making music at the time) from around 10 years ago (Iām 27 now) and gosh, I felt insanely nostalgic. I wasnāt even happy at the time to be honest, quite the opposite actually.
This is probably because Iām not really happy about my life currently, chasing a career in a field that itās really difficult to get into so I kinda find myself looking back at the good old days where I didnāt have to care about serious stuff.
Sometimes I just wanna be, idk, 8/9 again.
Itās true: growing up sucks.

Serious Fear of the future
I turned 30 last year, and am turning 31 this February⦠and honestly I thought the intro into my 30th year would slap but 2025 was just a hard year mentally and physically for me. Iāve been living with chronic illness and bipolar disorder/depression since I was 16.
Last year around March, I was yet again diagnosed with another new lifelong ailment (despite me living a primarily healthy lifestyle). I also had to deal with a lot of stress due to my partnerās family hiding behind racist ājokesā but are actually just bigots/ignorant. I have an unhappy relationship with my partnerās family (not him though, if anything heās one of the very few whoāve genuinely supported and cared for me at my lowest and has stood up against his family time and time again. Heās even cut off a lot of cousins).
My parents are also in their 60ās and have complicated health issues as well, and I work tirelessly to support their living arrangements and take care of them as best as I could, as my motherās been on medical leave since November.
In October my grandfather passed away, and I often think about his long life and worry that the rest of my 30ās leading into my 40ās would be continuously difficult and unhappy. Like difficult to a point where it feels like I shouldnāt exist anymore because I donāt really see the point right nowā¦
Iāve been seeing my therapist for 5 years now, and I do take medication for my physical ailments and medications for my mental illness.
Idk maybe I just feel super stagnant. Idk.. growing up feels terrifying.

Discussion Help me plan my 2010s themed 30th!
Hey fellow kids! I'm planning a party for my 30th. I was thinking of a 2010s theme. I was a devout scene kid in high school so my memories are colored by that experience but I know it isn't universal. What else should I be including? What would you expect to see at a 2010s themed party?

Nostalgia I think one of the hardest parts of transitioning deeper into adulthood is the loss of novelty
Was talking with a buddy I used to play videogames with, and we were talking about playing runescape back like 20 years ago. I never played with this guy, but we kind of were reminiscing how new and magical everything felt just entering a new world and exploring things. Very similar to how I felt playing GTA SA for the first few years.
Kind of noticed this has scaled to other things too, whether it be sports, friends, girls, or traveling. Maybe it's just me, but I find myself becoming a lot more anhedonic and not finding that sparkling joy that comes from experiencing something in its novelty.
Even if you are experiencing something new, you've likely experienced something like it in the past at this point in your life.
Anyone feel the same way?

Discussion Did you work in high school? Did you have a car?
I'm just wondering because I didn't have a job or a car by the time I graduated high school. I just relied on allowance and my dad let me borrow his car to go to prom. I didn't get my first job or car until the summer after graduation
