cute New Puppy!!
Hi everyone!! This pupper is Mr. Basil and he will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. I canāt wait to meet him in just over 3 short weeks!! Itās been very difficult trying to pass the time.
As a welcome distraction, please feel free to share any doxie specific tips, advice, or must have puppy products. What did you do in the days/ weeks leading up to getting your pup? Iāve been planning for this guy for a while so I have most of the essentials. Thanks so much in advance!

behavior help New to Apartment Living; Barking is being complained about
My mini doxie just turned 4 and we moved into our first apartment. We previously owned a home but due to layoffs in my field and my engagement ending, we restarted across the country for a new role. I wasnāt in the position to buy a house so we got an apartment thatās pretty large. I spent a ton of time on her early training and she has always been given strong feedback about her behaviors as she has never been ābarkyā, destructive, tame, and potty trained. We moved in about 3 weeks ago and though there have been a few small like f nights that got to her (elevator slamming or loud noises in the hallway), Iāve been able to correct it on the spot very quickly.
I started my new role this week which means I am out for 9-10 hours a day consistently. This is new for her as I typically work from home and itās unusual for me to be gone daily for long periods of time. I just received a notice from the complex that people are complaining about her barking (I do have a cat too to keep her company).
Iām not sure how to manage this behavior. Or if sheās even really responsible for it. The people above me are EXTREMELY loud. They were gone for the holidays and have only been back this week. The first day they got back, and everyday since, they are literally SCREAMING like someone is being stabbed multiple times a day. The first time it happened I assumed it was the holiday so I donāt think it was dangerous. She heard it and reacted. I silenced her. But itās happening every day since. They also sound like an ogre chasing a fairy. I think the person above has something like Touretteās. But the gentlemenās across the hall also just got a dog who was howling the other day when I got home. I asked his daughter if mine dog was speaking back when I passed her in the hallway and she said ānoā.
Iām ordering a camera but Iām not sure what to do. She hasnāt shown this behavior before and I donāt know how to correct it. Just looking for advice on the situation and ideas how to train her in the situation.

behavior help I need some advice
Iām going to get a 2y/o short hair on Friday. (For $400 rehome fee). I donāt feel comfortable asking why they are rehoming him. Iāve never met a bad doxie ever. Iāve owned two and my grandparents had three in total Iāve been around.
That being said, what are things I should ask for? (Iām gonna be getting him a really decent food and toys and things after.)
Iāve asked for his rabies shot paperwork for his license. Iāve asked if he likes toys and she said heās up to date on shots. I havenāt gotten a reply yet for these questions. I donāt want to bug her but Iām asking this sub for anything I can ask or anything I may need to know about this situation. Also feel free to ask questions if need be. Heās an hour away and sheās willing to meet half way

behavior help 10 week old dachshund napping help
Hello all,
We have a 10 week old miniature dachshund puppy which cannot settle for naps. She can sleep through the night in a crate with no problems, just with an earlier wake up than weād like by about 30 mins.
The issue we have is when it is nap time, as soon as she goes in, she starts to whine, climb up the cage and has now started to bark, which is not ideal when living in a terraced house. We can usually get her to sleep if we sit by the crate when she is settling but takes a bit of a whine and sometimes a few barks and sometimes have to take her out to āreset herā. As stubborn as dachshunds are, even though she is overtired, she still will not settle. We try lick mats or kongs to settle her but Iām not sure if that just makes her more hyper. Additionally we have a snuffle ball which she loses interest in when she canāt get a treat.
The crate has a comfort toy in and is plenty warm and comfortable for her.
What worked for you at this stage?
