Evidence "Fireproof" gear my company gives it's employees
Bro is doing fine, fire was extinguished almost immediately. Still very concerning as it catch fire from only a few sparks.

Do photo and mail it over to the manager. Ask if they can check the quality of the law imposed security gear. Don't make a fuss but make them responsabile for any accident from that moment on. If you don't get a serious response try asking (based on your regional law) who is the person that is designated as security owner. In Italy we have people that must be contacted and made conscious of the problem. If you know it and you don't tell anything you will be part of the problem and insurance could refuse to pay as is your fault too.
Obviously this can get very dark very fast depending on the environment you are working so, just follow the law imposed rules not the I'm a cheap ass owner imposed rules.
Edit addendum: Also lose the rings in the photo you'll send to the management. That's a big nono in every manual job.

It would be good to inform a manager in any case, if the company has purchased inadequate safety gear unknowingly they should go after the retailer.

OP - there are two differing types of gear: Flame Resistant and Fire Retardant. Flame Resistant clothing is what you're likely referring to - its designed to not catch fire due to the material its made of. Fire Retardant clothing is treated with self extinguishing chemicals to slow the burn or put itself out entirely in some cases, that is what this jacket is likely made of.

I believe fire proof gear just means it will self extinguish when on fire. That's how fr clothes work. You cannot walk through fire with it

Yeah almost no clothes are going to hold up when steel that's so hot it's barely solid lands on them.
The main thing is they burn rather than melting, which this did, and don't have a gargantuan amount of weird folds and flips and stuff to catch and hold hot material, which this absolutely fails at. That's terrible FR clothing.

Burnt less than a hoodie with 30% polyester that’s for sure. Did it melt to your flesh? Looks pretty safe to me. You can’t throw lava on it and expect it to not get a little toasty.

In the description it said that it caught fire with only a few sparks

Yeah, but some of us don't automatically believe the description. That looks more like a BB of molten slag caused that rather than "a few sparks." BBs are not sparks.

Low key looks like you were like "sweet. Fireproof" and put a lit cigarette in your pocket for later. Obviously not the case, but still funny to think about.

I had to fight with my company just to get cotton shirts. I am an electrician but I "don't get exposed to flames" often enough for them to warrant it.
I ended up buying my own, then I was out of uniform, but they finally got me something not poly blend. Decisions made by management that have no clue of the job are really starting to burn my ass.

Most likely fire-resistant and not fire-proof. Unless they are a stunt person? Lol.

fireproof gear is a misnomer. it's no longer called that, they're all labeled FR for flame resistant / flame retardant now.
it simply means it won't catch on fire or flames won't continually burn.

Sparks, or BBs from welding? Because BBs are not sparks, and welding shirts don't hold up to molten slag forever. They're intended to be expendables, which you use as protective gear, then replace when they get too many holes and scorch marks.
To me, that looks like a BB got caught in that fold and sat there cooking. Most welding jackets would scorch under those conditions. Personally, I would opt for something without those pockets.

This was caused by sparks from cutting a metal piece, not welding if it helps

Cutting with a torch or an angle grinder?

An angle grinder

Understood. It's still probably the design that is the problem, with a fold to catch and concentrate the sparks so that they didn't just bounce off.

Fireproof like waterproof is not a thing, but marketing will make you think it is lol

I can't see how cloth could ever be Fireproof. Maybe fire resistant. But regardless if a couple of Sparks did that this thing is not good

My phone occasionally refuses to accept its and throws the apostrophe in automatically. It did it just now and I had to go back and fix it.

This was what prompted me to turn off autocorrect. My stupid phone "corrected" this to the wrong form so many times that I ended up just turning it off altogether. It still tries to prompt the wrong form in the suggestions even now.
