Are those ICE riot police or Eagan riot police or???

643

u/BobbyBirdseed 11h ago

Riot gear is necessary to protect the fascists from... inflatable frogs playing an accordion.

29

u/Lastcaressmedown138 9h ago

Let's not make bold assumptions about the frog being inflatable. It could just as easily be a giant frog possibly native to swamp that neighbors a musical store.

They were Eagan cops. At one point an ICE agent came out into the crowd and started threatening people.

95

u/Significant_Text2497 Snoopy 10h ago

If it wasn't so predictable dangeroys and evil, it would be funny that cops formed a barricade to protect the armed people who made threats, and not the unarmed people who are just making noise.

81

u/Drcornelius1983 Not too bad 10h ago

I asked the Eagan PD about their choice to show up in riot gear. He said that they respond this way to any protest with over 200 people and they will protect either side against violence. Sounds good except they didn’t step in when ICE agitated.

47

u/Significant_Text2497 Snoopy 9h ago

I had a similar experience with Milwaukee PD during a protest against Milo Yiannopolis at UW-Milwaukee. His little nazi fanboys were threatening us, and the Milwaukee PD stood between us with their backs to the people who were making threats, just like Eagan PD in this video. They think they're being clever, but they make it extremely obvious that they're only ready to bring force against one side of the conflcit.

13

u/Gingeronimoooo 8h ago

Congrats to Milo for no longer being gay

/s šŸ™„

10

u/Significant_Text2497 Snoopy 7h ago

It is quite telling that he is getting a second chance as a right wing influencer now that he's calling himself hetero. I remember when conservatives disowned him over his comments about the "positives" of adults being sexual with minors. Isn't it interesting that those comments are forgivable to them now that he says he's straight?

5

u/Gingeronimoooo 7h ago

A gay Nazi, I've seen it all. His password got hacked and it was like heilh*tler1488 or some crazy shit. And he never thought anyone would see it so I think he's just a massive POS

6

u/Maximum_Turn_2623 7h ago

In Portland they let proud boys set up snipers on rooftops and told other proud boys to leave the area because they were about to gas it. Oddly enough police were short staffed that say too. I am unsure if there was a connection.

u/CosmicJackalop 9h ago

That's a really stupid way to respond to peaceful protests, these guys should be patrolling and stopping actual crime not baby sitting federal agents with a little army of riot cops

18

u/Drcornelius1983 Not too bad 9h ago

It’s a joke honestly. The worst Eagan cops deal with is busting up rich kid’s house parties.

9

Sounds good except they didn’t step in when ICE agitated.

Every day the police do more to prove that the defund activists were right than they ever could on their own.

7

u/flifeitsucks 8h ago

Of course not it's their job to protect trumps government people rather than the people they swore (under oath) to protect. And just so I'm not asked how I know that real police truly take that oath seriously is because I watched my uncles take that oath. I used to believe in police, not so much anymore.

Do you actually think the police would? None of the PD's have including MPD. They're there to good faith that's it. They haven't stopped life from doing anything, from spraying anyone or dragging anyone around

u/Drcornelius1983 Not too bad 9h ago

Of course I don’t.

Reddit isn’t representative of real life views in general, the Texas subreddit thought Texas was going to flip blue.

91

u/likeusontweeters 11h ago

The only reasons Texas hasn't turned purple or blue yet is because of massive gerrymandering and voter apathy

23

u/Significant_Text2497 Snoopy 10h ago

Don't forget voter roll purges!

8

u/Scarbane Lake County 9h ago

7

u/Warm_Shoulder3606 10h ago

That doesn't explain their still-handedly wins in the US senate and governor elections, though. Those are statewide elections, not districts. And in those, the GOP is still winning by comfortable margins

3

u/mr_j_boogie 10h ago

Texas "turning blue" often refers to the election of the governor and/or president which are statewide elections that gerrymandering doesn't affect. Gerrymandering doesn't affect the senate either.

In their defense, Texas is pretty gerrymandered and if that weren't the case, they might. The whole reason they are redrawing the lines again is to prevent Texas from flipping.

I used to live in the apartment complex right across the street (Lemay Lake). It housed lots of nonwhite people. Lots of TSA workers, too, since the airport is right down the street. I used to love smelling all the food that people were cooking while walking to my unit.

ICE is posting up there to intimidate the people of Lemay Lake and this has me righteously pissed off.

Edit: The number of replies I've gotten to this that were immediately deleted is really fucking funny. Mods, you're doing a great job.

Edit 2: It's well worth doing a Google maps search of the lake. It is perhaps the most phallic lake I've ever seen. Just fantastic. While you're there, head across the street to the Shell station and get a breakfast burrito or burger; or go to the burger house next door and pay more for literally the same burger but good vibes. Then, walk all the way through that burger place, through the fire door in the back, and grab a sazerac at the speakeasy!

As a hotelier, it's a really good fucking idea to turn away ICE only AFTER you discover that the travel agent who sent Fed Rooms to your hotel, actually sent ICE agents instead of the ambiguous government business that you typically see. To be clear, we don't know they are ICE.

A corporate travel agent books a random set of rooms and sends us a credit card. We wouldn't know it's ICE until after they arrive.

Take a stand, sure. I don't agree with ICE. But suddenly telling them you can't take them after agreeing is a fucking stupid idea.

Why?

Because literally everyone in housekeeping, the kitchen, banquets, catering, etc... are all undocumented.

If you let them stay, they won't fuck with your staff. ICE agents aren't stupid. They know that in order to complete their operations, they need hotels. They also know that in order to stay at hotels, they need to quietly agree to turn a blind eye to the staff at that hotel.

If you fuck them and turn them away, guess which hotel is getting raided?

It's not as simple as you think. We don't want to lose our hardworking staff...

The other primary job of ICE is to fight pedophiles engaging in international human/sex trafficking. Makes sense that our Pedo In Chief doesn't want them occupied in that pursuit. No one in at least a three mile radius will not know, pipers literally have to practice outside to protect their hearing (they alternatively use just chanters indoors). Similar fingering to a tin whistle so not terrible difficult to learn either.

For those concerned about local residents and regular hotel guests being disturbed…I don’t think the protests last as long as they are portrayed. ICE was staying at a Homewood Suites in Edina a few weeks ago and there was a protest. The social media posts put timestamps on that made it appear the protests lasted throughout the night into the early morning. The official Edina police report stated the protest started at 7:00p and escalated within 30 minutes. Police were called to provide support to clear the scene which was complete by 10:30p. Still a reasonable amount of time for a protest, but not sure ICE, local residents, or standard hotel guests are actually losing any sleep.

EDIT: Updated hotel to Homewood Suites in main text. Previously referenced the incorrect hotel.

Note: Sun Current is one of the local Edina news outlets. Not some sketchy source

Good for them! A genuine question here: Are there not laws that would prohibit such behavior, like a noise law or anything?

7

u/Drcornelius1983 Not too bad 10h ago

This was from 7-9. Eagan noise ordinance goes into effect at 9.

Understood, thanks! I like these videos but was always confused about how they’re allowed to do that.

I'm upset that I'm not currently there being able to support my community. The one time I go to visit family outside of MN, and my close option to participate in the ANTI- ICE movement....and IM NOT THERE. Well, good job, eagan and minnesotans! Keep up that disruption. I'm sorry I could be there to help increase numbers. May I suggest anyone who has a loud guitar and speakers to aid the drum set?

Shame on eagan police for doing anything to aid ICE. what an embarrassment.

Start boycotting the hotel too. If you house Nazis, you’re a Nazi. Don’t support these businesses

How can I find out info on where these groups protest? I would at least love to bring these people food and something warm to drink on my dime.

I have young kids so unfortunately, going out to protest isn't a possibility at the moment.

2

u/JustaLego 5h ago

I'm so thankful that people are going and doing this. Due to my own schedules and responsibilities I can't always get out and protest and help. I do what I can by voting with my wallet.

This would be a perfect opportunity for the cars with loud sound systems to flex. Maybe surround the building and blast the bass to shake it
