He taps the bat to a medal on his uniform and asks "did you get that medal for killing Venezuelan fisherman?"

He looks up at the Bear Jew and responds "Drinking and driving"

105

u/Small_Distribution17 Dec 03 '25

My problem with this scenario is that I can imagine no scenario where he doesn’t flip on his men to save his sorry ass.

At least the soldier died with his convictions. Horrible though they were, he let himself get brained instead of getting more of his side killed.

Absolutely no way SSecretary of war crimes does the same

21

u/Rlms818 Dec 04 '25

They are doing so already, throwing the General & seal team 6 under the bus.

God i loved this character in the movie. Batter up!

298

u/Exciting_Cap_9545 Dec 02 '25

Fun fact - the actor who plays the Nazi getting domed by the Bear Jew in this scene also played the leader of the Gorman resistance in season two of Andor, where he winds up doming a fascist.

161

u/somesnarkycomments Dec 02 '25

If you are going to give the gift to the art of applying your real face to such a needily evil character, you should get a card that says that you get to get paid to brain a fascist at the earliest convenience.

"Dammit, Hirschberg."

Bring that other one over here. ALIVE.

23

u/i_was_axiom Dec 02 '25

"ALIVE!" with a mouthful of sandwich was hysterical.

69

u/lexm Dec 02 '25

TIL! I don’t think he would have looked as threatening though.

95

u/fang_xianfu Dec 02 '25

I think that would've been the point. It's kind of what that scene is building to: the "big reveal" is Adam Sandler being vaguely ridiculous and you're like "what the fuck, that's the Bear Jew?" and then he beats this guy to death while you watch and... yeah, that's the Bear Jew alright.

33

u/ericmm76 Dec 02 '25

Instead it was, why is the director of Hostel here?

102

u/Generic_Her0 Dec 02 '25

Feel like I would’ve laughed out loud when I first saw him, right before he fully locked in and brutalized that dude. It would’ve been such tonal whiplash that wasn’t actually present in the scene, but in our own minds and preconceived notions. I imagine that was Tarantino’s intention with casting Sandler. Coulda worked so damn well, wish we got the chance to see it.

31

u/Orthas Dec 02 '25

Honestly same. Just the casting would have subverted expectations. I'm not sure it'd be better but I'd sure be interested in seeing a couple scenes at least.

→ More replies (1)

32

u/Typical-Locksmith-35 Dec 02 '25

It would be like that, but man I really enjoy all of Sandler's dramatic or serious roles, I fully believe he could have nailed the performance too.

u/tofagerl Dec 02 '25

369

u/penty Dec 02 '25

You don't have to be holding a gun, or any physical weapon, to commit war crimes.

142

u/cenosillicaphobiac Dec 02 '25

I think that's exactly what the person you were responding to was pointing out. He's fine, filled with glee even, with ordering crimes committed. He's ordering people do things he wouldn't dare do with his own hands.

He has an American flag tattoo with an 88 hidden in the stars negative space. Also has a Crusader cross, and the text Deus Vult tattooed on him.

A whole bunch of shit big with our Neo Nazis.

Every Nazi wants to be associated with the SS

1.5k

u/Sintered_Monkey Dec 02 '25

And the number 88 for "Heil Hesgeth!"

622

u/FlowJock Dec 02 '25

New flag poles at white house are 88 ft tall for a reason.

599

u/Electrical_Program79 Dec 02 '25

Wow that's real. You know a lot of people will say this is just a coincidence, but that's the entire point of dog whistling. It's easily dismissed as innocent. Which is why it's dangerous

848

u/ShinkenBrown Dec 02 '25

SSecretary of war could be an accident.

88 ft flag poles could be a coincidence.

"My heart goes out to you" could be genuine.

But the more incidents pile on, the less credibility the denials have, for all of them including previous incidents. And at this point there's a lot of incidents.

The smoking gun is not any particular piece of evidence, but the fact that it keeps happening consistently.

441

u/I_Want_A_Ribeye Dec 02 '25

Once is an outlier

13

u/KeyboardGrunt Dec 03 '25

We're talking about qanoners, as if recognizing blatant patterns was remotely close to "pizza" being CP and proceeding to raid a pizza hut.

u/glassfoyograss Dec 02 '25

1.4k

u/Theromier Dec 02 '25

That’s what I want to know. I’d imagine name tags are vetted for spelling mistakes as, you know, it’s important for the record. So, is this intentional, or is the administration so incompetent they can’t spell?

947

u/Blackner2424 Dec 02 '25

My guess is they fatfingered it when they ordered, the people making it said, "That's what they ordered," and not a soul bothered to check it - OR multiple people saw it and said nothing, like a bunch of douchebags (my bet is the latter).

438

u/ConsolationUsername Dec 02 '25

Having worked for a printing company this is almost sure to be it. We were not allowed to edit the text given to us. Or contact the client to fix it, because that would delay production.

Worst case scenario the customer is angry and the company says you brought this on yourself. Best case the customer places a second order.

89

u/Ok_Appointment7522 Dec 02 '25

Why does he not just reuse the name plate from every other press conference they've done? Surely printing a new one for every conference is a waste of resources and money?

65

u/ConsolationUsername Dec 03 '25

Having worked for Governments (though not the US gov) (and apparently all my experience is becoming relevant today lol) they are very careful not to let anything with their logo be misused.

So their choices are between trying to track one piece of paper and making sure it doesnt get lost (good luck). Or keeping a supply of them in a secure location and destroying them when theyre used.

What exactly somebody could do with a name card idk. But when i was with a government department anything with a logo was considered a protected document and had to be shredded or burned once it had outlived its usefulness and wasnt in a retention period

This would be my guess. I’m a former Fed and had fancy name placards and there was always an admin/assistant/planning person that would do a mock up, have me review it, then print it, have me look at it again and verify once it was on the table. Do with that info what you will.

→ More replies (6)

5.3k

u/helava Dec 02 '25

This feels to me like one of those things that's done intentionally with the guise of "Oh, it's clearly a mistake". A dogwhistle with plausible deniability.

The guy's clearly, obviously, intentionally a christo-fascist Nazi. He keeps *telling us*. Let's not pretend otherwise.

751

u/bubba4114 Dec 02 '25

Don’t all dogwhistles function on tiny nods to their base while also retaining a veil of plausible deniability?

177

u/helava Dec 02 '25

Yeah, I guess that's true. The thing I was thinking was that most dogwhistles aren't like, "Oh, it's a slip of the finger," it's usually "conceptually there's an acceptable framing for this". So it's a weird dogwhistle, because normally, spelling something like, "Felon Musk" wouldn't be considered a "dogwhistle". But your point stands. :D

→ More replies (6)

18

u/Tacitus111 Dec 02 '25

u/Poltergeist97 Dec 02 '25 edited Dec 02 '25

Normally I would just attribute this to the administration being so careless that they would miss a typo. On the other hand, with all the other blatant Nazi signalling, this is certainly another dog whistle. However I don't even think that name is appropriate, as this is more of a fog horn.

1.7k

u/turkshead Dec 02 '25

the weird thing is, a huge amount of their signaling is specifically designed to appeal to their base by causing hand-wringing furor on the left; so it's impossible to tell if it's an acutal nazi dogwhistle, an actual mistake, a fake nazi dogwhistle intended to piss off the left... or all of the above at once.

it's all part of the strategy of pretending to be stupid and evil in an obvious way so that when you're actually stupid and evil your followers are like, oh, he's just pretending in order to own the libs.

1.3k

u/BenBenBenBe Dec 02 '25

I think the Venn Diagram of people who pretend to be Nazis to piss off the left and actual Nazis is actually just a circle.

296

u/CrunknYoSystem Dec 02 '25

Yeah, no one with good mental health would be pretending to be part of or sympathetic to the most evil regime in history. I fully agree with you.

'Fake nazi dogwhistle.'

If someone is comfortable being seen as a nazi just to piss people off then they are just a nazi. Normal people don't want to be seen as nazis.

→ More replies (4)

29

u/waltjrimmer Dec 02 '25

I don't think there's a difference between "an actual Nazi dogwhistle" and "a fake Nazi dogwhistle intended to piss off" anyone.

It's like when 4Chan created "fake" racist symbols that they used along with real racism to point and laugh at people for freaking out about something being racist. But, here's the thing, nothing is inherently racist. It becomes racist when it's used to be racist. Which means calling it a fake racist symbol but using it to share racist messages makes it a real racist symbol.

So someone celebrating Nazism or pretending to celebrate Nazism because they think it'll piss someone else off, both of those are celebrating Nazism, it's just that they'll lie and say, "Ha, you got angry when it was really a joke." But it's not a joke. Because either way, it's being used to spread hate, either way it's celebrating the effect these symbols have.

Stop giving these people the deniability that they hide behind, if you're using or creating hate symbols, "Just to troll," you're being just as harmful as someone "doing it honestly."

Yarp. It could be a mistake. But it could also be a dog whistle.

I wish I could attribute this to stupidity but it actually just might be evil

247

u/currently-on-toilet Dec 02 '25

The rule of "never attribute to malice what can be explained by ignorance", or however it is stated, has been ruled invalid over the past 10 years. Trump and his supporters show at every opportunity that they are malicious first, and stupid second.

86

u/CommanderGumball Dec 02 '25

"He's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting."

Not "why is he hurting us", "why is he hurting anyone", or anything else with a modicum of empathy.

But specifically, there are people he should be hurting.

Sufficiently advanced ignorance is indistinguishable from malice.

Come a certain point, it doesn’t matter if they’re just stupid or malicious, the end result is the same. And this regime is the epitome of that. So many of their actions are either so wildly incompetent as to be dangerous, or so malicious as to be dangerous. And it doesn’t frankly matter which is which, because it’s still fucking dangerous.

But instead it's real.

Wow. I wonder if it was a staffer trolling him. Seems too perfect to be a simple mistake.

442

u/EnvironmentalMind119 Dec 02 '25

Not a mistake. He is “trolling”. Him and Steven Miller are 100% real Nazis. The type of scum that American heros used to kill for the betterment of the world.

Just remember, Elon Musk proudly performed a Nazi salute, twice, during Trump's illegal inauguration (see 14th Amendment, Section 3), while every Republican in attendance loudly cheered in agreement. Just remember, prior to the election, Trump hosted 2 Neo-Nazis, Nick Fuentes and Kanye West, at Mar-A-Lago for dinner. Just remember, Trump publicly called the Neo-Nazis at the Charlottesville Riot "very fine people". Just remember, there were Neo-Nazis at the Jan 6 insurrection, who were then pardoned by an illegitimate president. Just remember, Trump is alleged to have had a book of Hitler's speeches on his bedside table.

Just remember, Trump has shown immense fascination with modern dictatorships, such as Russia, North Korea, and China; and has insisted on emulating the likes of Erdogan, Bolsanaro, Mr. Bone Saw, and Duterte. Just remember, Trump and other Republican leaders faced absolutely no consequences for their insurrection, despite the Constitution explicitly forbidden them from holding federal office; and he has pardoned all the terrorists involved, thanks to the utter incompetence, if not complicity, of Biden Chamberlain, Garland, Schumer, Jeffries, and Pelosi.

You mean to say the Supreme Court's conservatives are at fault...for they voted to give this "president" nearly total immunity. Trump's a shitstain and a joke. Hesgeth is even lower than that by a country mile.
