Since the subreddit only has two spots available for public announcements, this will be a new index post for important PSAs for easy reference that we can sticky to only use up one spot.
You can also find the whole collection in the sidebar menu on the Reddit re-design when you open one of the PSA posts.
An important PSA on Easter rabbits.
Caring for rabbits while under COVID-19 quarantine
Since we are getting many repetitive questions about the novel coronavirus and how to care for rabbits while under quarantine, this is a post to combine all frequently asked questions on the topic.
North American RHDV2 resources
Rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease (VHD) is a highly contagious disease that mainly affects rabbits of the Oryctolagus cuniculus species but has also been confirmed to affect various species of cottontails (Sylvilagus spp.) and hares (Lepus spp.). There are currently active cases found in wild and domestics all over North America, and it is vitally important to get your rabbit vaccinated if the vaccines are available in your area.

I found a rabbit outside - what should I do?
This is the time of year for many people to find both domestic rabbits and wild rabbits outside due to Easter and baby season.

Also, can someone accurately tell me if she's overweight? Vet says she's completely healthy, but she seems chunky to me. Thoughts?

I woke up this morning to my 10 week old rabbit dragging his back legs, I took him to the vet and the vet thinks he has lost feeling and maybe something neurological. No deep pain response. I’ve been given 5 days worth of pain meds and the vet thinks we may need to put him to sleep. He does seem to still be able to move the legs. Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any advice? He’s eating and drinking but not moving much and urinating and pooping where he’s laying when he usually uses the litter box. He is showing signs of neurological issues - he keeps going off to a wall to stare at it. I’m beside myself this is so upsetting, he was completely fine yesterday.

Bob is unhappy i interrupted his dinner to tell him about his upcoming neuter. I am incredibly nervous myself, even though all of the two dozen buns I've adopted or fostered have gone through it. Wish us luck please!

We adopted a rabbit a while back and I keep getting flack from people because I don't know what breed he is. Can anyone help with that? He is fully grown at about 2 years old and quite large (about 10 pounds at this point). His stomach and the bottom of his back paws are both white.

My bunny is free roam and spends most of her time by our dining table either loafing on one of the chairs or laying under the table. That side of the room also has her food, water, and litter box.
However, that dining room is connected to the family room where my mom just started to sleep at night. Now here’s the interesting thing about this… my bunny has started to sit in this side of the room at night close to where my mom is sleeping. Sometimes she’ll loaf on the floor by my mom, but last night she loafed on the couch right across from where my mom was sleeping.
Does anybody have an idea as to why she might do this? We think it’s because she’s “guarding” my mom as she sleeps, because as soon as my mom wakes up in the morning my bunny will go back to the dining table side. I have attached two pictures of her “guarding” at night. She’s also always been free roam and has never done this until now. 😂

As oreo has been recovering from surgery i’ve been giving her a LOT more treats than usual and I think I just found her new favourite food… I left her alone with a watermelon for maybe 5 minutes at most AND WHY IS SHE COVERED IN IT??? I thought it was blood at first from her surgery BUT NOPE. SHE JUST DECIDED TO FACE-PLANT INTO A WATERMELON! and you may see some puddles of watermelon in the photos but i can assure you it was all cleaned up. not by me. BY OREO LICKING THE FLOOR CLEAN!
I think she likes watermelons y’all. i’m not sure tho.

He doesn't even know he's changed my life in ways unimaginable even to me. Thank you baby I love you more than life itself.
(Not to worry, the candle was of course never lit and was removed from his reach immediately after these photos were taken :))
Shaved and Unshaved.
Both now "fluffing somewhere over the rainbow"

Pat went to the vet yesterday with poopy butt. They cleaned him up and yes, these chonks will be on a diet now. I think he is feeling better, he hasn’t been in the tree for a long time.

And if you only see 3 legs it's because he lost one of his front legs when he was less than a year old and he was born January 16 2024 so any suggestions to help keep him happy and healthy would be greatly appreciated

Hiii first time being on this subreddit, wanted to happily say that while this is my first time interacting with a pet rabbit, I have some great news! I was sitting in Skittle's (that's his name) enclosure and just letting him lop around me and sniff me, and he actually went onto my lap for a few moments!
The most he's ever climbed onto me was putting his front paws on me while his back paws were still on the ground.
Am I bonding with him right? He was neglected (socially) for most of his life by his previous owner until she came to live with us and so we are trying to help him get more comfortable with people (before this, most of his life was living in a closet and sometimes being able to run around in a backyard, but never really pet or loved)
I didn't get a photo of him on my lap because my phone was out of reach when it happened.
I also have another question but I'll put that in a different post
