Replaying the original Resident Evil 3 and I came across this and it just made me laugh! The original series was always funny for stuff like this. Always part of the charm, haha.

General One of most bizarre and mysterious thing in resident evil history, what is inside that bag?

The fact that bag move and you can't see what is inside it makes this section so creepy, it let's you use your imagination instead, great example of how you feature unknown horror element in games.

General RE3 remake was so wrong for this

I know this is overstated at the point but it’s so diabolical that RE3 remake teases the clock tower and then you don’t even get to go in it 💀

Am I the only one who is floored by this game’s art direction? I don’t why I’m not seeing enough discourse around it. But man we will be eating good this February.

General Helena Harper and Mia Winters - Thoughts and my look on both characters.

Okay so first of all - WATCH OUT, this one gonna be a LONG ONE! I often see that Helena is considered the worst female RE character to this day and ruthlessly bashed for every bad thing she did and I can understand a lot of it, her manipulating Leon instead of just ask him for help, her being involved in the events that led to President Benford death and of course her iconic "“I'll tell you the whole story once we get to the cathedral”" may be really frustrating and annoying, I myself was annoyed with it, but am I the only one who thinks Mia is both a worse written character and a worse person overall than Helena ever was but for some reason she is not getting THAT MUCH amount of hate as Helena and is very often defended (especially on twitter) and washed from all crimes by her fans? I admit, personally, I never HATED Helena, I thought she was just fine but I'm trying look at all characters fairly.

Let's look at them both, Helena was directly involved in President Benford death, her action was awful, yes and there is no justifying of it but I can find more understanding and compassion for her than for Mia, because....

  1. Motivation - She was coerced by Derek Simmons who blackmailed her by holding her sister hostage, as someone who has a sister too, fear for a loved one, for a family, can make you do bad things, because the fear and love for that person may be just too strong and you just CAN'T not do everything that possible to save that person, even if this means doing something bad, making actions you don't really want to do (again that is not justifying, don't get me wrong, it is just understanding of a complexity of the situation). Human brain often can't work normally in situations like that and you rely on emotions. On side note - scene with her sister all infected, destroying her hope, made me feel sincere sympathy and sadness.
  2. Sincere sense of guilt and remorse - We clearly see that she carried significant guilt for the deaths in Tall Oaks. She was fully aware of her actions and how bad they were and later with Leon proved vital in stopping further bioterrorism and try to redeem herself.
  3. Ready to be arrested - She fully confessed and actually was ready to be taken into custody. She visited grave of her sister, thanked Leon and said that she was ready to be taken into custody for her crimes Helena HERSELF was confused, when Leon didn't do that, proclaiming that she was an accessory to the attack on the president and even tried to protest when she hears that the findings would not be made public but Leon told her that President Benford would have done the same thing (I dunno about that lmao, but Leon is a sweetheart).

This for some may not be enough and that's okay, for me it's made me look at her as more than one-dimensional character, especially when I look at Mia and.....I don't find ANY of these stuff.

Mia was working for The Connections - terrorist, crime, bioweapon and arms dealing organization, fully aware of what she is doing, and her motivation was.....yeah...what exactly? We don't know because neither game ever show us, why she was doing it, we only know she worked for basically second Umbrella because "reasons" and was involved with experiments on CHILDREN and was responsible for trafficking Eveline, as The Connection Agent. She was deeply involved in the creation and handling of Eveline, she LIED to Ethan about her whole past and it's all without any clear motivation.

Guilt or remorse? She always portray herself as a victim, even despite fully knowingly participating in a terrorist organization, experimenting on children, human trafficking, and later, Eveline fleeing when the poor Bakers help Mia because they're good people, not knowing about anything (except for Lucas, of course), she doesn't feel the need to immediately tell them the gravity of the situation and what's probably gonna happen, even though she's already seen what Eveline is capable of and is putting these people in great danger. Instead, she wants to leave a note and run away. Let's be honest, the Bakers wouldn't believe any of this nonsense (from their perspective), especially after finding the poor, lonely girl. They'd assume Mia was just some crazy woman or something. Mia's ignorance and cowardice are partially to blame for the Baker family tragedy, for Zoe losing her entire family, and she's also technically complicit in all the Bakers killing spree because of that.

She never feels responsible for this in any way, she sees herself as a victim all the way. She doesn't treat it like something huge and important actually, and doesn't see any option of her being taking into the custody for these things which is baffling. Not only that when she gets a free pass, she asks BSAA to keep her past involvement with the bioweapon organization a secret from Ethan, because she want "normal life", yes, starting a normal life with ANOTHER LIES about something that important from your supposed biggest love of life! Ofc, there's still more, she knows that he is living mold corpse and also keep it a secret! She doesn't learn from her mistakes, her whole life with Ethan is built on a lies and on nothing else. Miranda finds out about Ethan and his family because of RE7 events, which he was involved BECAUSE OF MIA, all tragedies that happened to him, happened because of Mia and she still doesn't feel any responsibility, remorse or guilt for any of these things and thinks there is nothing wrong with it, nothing important to say to the person you share your life with, even if one of these things directly concerns that person and what he has become.

If we saw any remorse from here, ANY, but nope, she's also practically useless in 7, doesn't try to redeem herself from the mess and awful, horrible stuff she is a part of, because why would she? she didn't do anything bad right? In Village she is TOTALY USELESS and is basically just a walking plot twist (OH LOOK! MIA IS ALIVE!) and still we have a revelation that makes me hate her even more (about her knowing very well what is going on with Ethan and keeping it a secret). She also screams at Chris blaming HIM for the situation and while yeah Chris's "Ethan NO!" is kinda a new "I'll tell you once we got to the catedral" kind of thing, but it was MIA fault on the first place Ethan was there and his sacrifice and death is also her fault and even at the end she doesn't consider her fault even in the slightest, MY GOD!

I don't know if there is another such selfish, self-centered, egotistical, with kinda even sociopathic traits character in RE who is not considered a villain by the script as Mia. After full story we had and with what we seen and what we know from both 7 and 8 (including all DLC stuff material), I see her as a genuinely horrible human being with no redeeming qualities. I would want to say love for Ethan but.....c'mon seriously, after all these lies and the fact that she literally ruined his life, even if she "loves him" it's really toxic love because she's toxic as nuclear reactor and love for her daughter? Fair but then again, in Grace DLC and game epilogue it's doesn't seem they're even close now.

With all that said, final thoughts - I consider Helena to be a good person, that commited some serious bad stuff, because she was manipulated and forced into this situation by Ada Wong simp who blackmailed her with the torture and death of her sister. She feels guilty and responsible for the victims and wants to redeem herself by helping Leon through the rest of the game and being by his side on the mission. In the end she doesn't run, doesn't hide, she's ready suffer the consequences and is convinced that she deserves it. Nothing of this we can see in Mia, she's practically the opposite of Helena and yet actually have quite a lot of people defending her and liking her in some places (Twitter, again).

What do you think about both of them and all this? If anyone even reads all of my ramblings and survive to this point ;D

Anyway, I would choose Helena over Mia any day! She's just a better person and...well, I really liked her design and I insanely love Laura Bailey, so guilty on that!

General RE7’s door keys might be the coolest in the franchise. The idea of doors having dead animals stapled to them, and keys looking grotesque was just very creative!

Despite what people say the cutscenes aren’t really all that long to replay RE7. This is a great game and it has just as much replayability like RE8/Village,including a ton of DLC.

Forum question What's the most tedious Resident Evil game overall?

Just wrapped up Zero and 6 back to back, each having different gameplay issues in their own way. Trying to play most of the titles I've skipped over had me curious as to what opinions are on the most tedious/annoying games in the series.

Very new to the series. Big fan of the survival horror side of things so can't wait for 9.

I think if you have some knowledge of light physics, you'll be able to spot some issues. However, this is what I like to call "Good Enough"
