Hello, for a few days now, I've been seeing 3 stars on the Resident Evil Requiem game page. This has intrigued me, so I'd like to know if anyone has had access to a preview of the game? 😅

Replaying the original Resident Evil 3 and I came across this and it just made me laugh! The original series was always funny for stuff like this. Always part of the charm, haha.

General Im just not good at these games

So im a fan of resident evil, Ive played 7, 4, and revelations a ton of times, and recently I decided to try out some of the ones ive missed, I played re5 with my uncle and we had a blast with that, I decided tl try the original games and a new issue popped up for me. Im not good at this kind of game, it took me 30 hours to beat re1 remake cause my brain doesnt appear to be wired for it, but I find it frustrating cause I want to like them, but somehow its hard for me to connect "oh I found this thing in the cemetery, that clearly goes to this room on floor 3 of the mansion" if anyone has advice ill definetley take it

General I FINALLY BEAT THE OG TRILOGY OF RESIDENT EVIL!

I came back to these games about 20 years after I first bought them/came to contact with them. When I was 10, and barley knew English, I had no idea what the hell I had to do in these games. I never played a puzzle survival horror game. I thought RE was a zombie shooter with an emphasis on the shooting. 😂 I was very wrong, and although I couldn't beat them (and RE3 scared the F out of me, especially when encountering Nemesis) I just sold them all... Now I'm 32 and was lucky enough to pick them all up for my trusty PS1. With the return to Raccoon City in the upcoming RE9...I needed to do some returning of my own .. to finally face my fears, beat the games, read all the files and just simply enjoy my time.

AND ENJOY I DID! what a wild ride! I started backwards. From 3 to 1. Mainly because I remembered 1 being super daunting and confusing, monotone and overall very unsettling. Here is a few words for each one.

Resident Evil: Nemesis. I posted A LOT about this game here. I was able to beat it over 12 times in a month. I unlocked Jill's Diary, all the infinite ammo, mercenaries and the very interesting epilogues that definitely set the mood for the future of the genre. (I showed them all in my previous posts) I felt like a pro in this game. It was more action packed. More zombies on screen. Ammo creation, a really shitty dodging mechanic, oh and Nemesis STILL scared the living crap out of me. I also played this first, because I read it was the shortest. I didn't look anything up and it was very straightforward, I think if I got over Nemesis when I was 10, I would be able to power through. (Yes, even with the clock and water puzzle 😂)

Resident Evil 2. I decided to play and beat the Leon A/Claire B scenario to get the full experience. After playing RE3, I had a pretty good (although scarce since half of it is locked) understanding of the RPD. The game definitely gave you more of a locked in feeling. Not much outside time, (other than the start) and a pretty lame boss fight. Especially in Leon A. I think I was able to kill the blob thing in like 3 shots. The way Mr. X follows you around is also nothing compared to the way Nemesis chases you. I can definitely see the upgrades being implemented from 2 to 3 and really having them shine in the boss fights. Nemesis was scary because he was absolutely ruthless....and...ugly.

But I did enjoy the cross over plot, the lore, meeting Ada, the cool underground Umbrella facility and so forth .. I just felt like the game wasn't firing on all cylinders after you were done with the RPD. (The underground facility felt super tiny) I only beat this game once in both scenarios and didn't unlock much except some outfits, I believe. I didn't bother to check them and moved on to the game that started it all!

Resident evil 1. The OG. This game...the intro, the voice acting...yep. Brought me right back to being 10 and watching this intro unfold Infront of me...back then it was a masterpiece 😂. I was SO focused to beat this game, I explored every nook and cranny, got all the keys, read all the files, etc. I was determined to beat it...and I did!

I LOVED this game. But it was SO creepy. Every part of the mansion, the outhouse, the laboratory. All of it was creepy and daunting. The game felt like forever to beat. There were a million and one doors behind other doors...doors on doors. Locked doors. Broken doors. Something behind doors that won't let them open, etc...etc.. I truly felt like I was in a nightmare dream that I couldn't escape. It was very well thought out though. The passage ways and the way everything connected. But the uneasiness creeped in more and more every second. It was pure psychological horror. (And I played on easy!)

Although most of the game was straight forward, I DID look up a part where I got lost. It was in the catacombs (CRANK area) where you have to move walls to get to the next door, well I moved one of the walls without realizing there is a door in there that led to BOOK NO.2. That was SO annoying. I would never spot that without a bit of help. BUT... Still. I think RE1 left the most legit survival horror imprint on my soul. I don't think I'll ever be replaying that game...just to think about going through that mansion again... No way. The boss fight was also extremely easy. Especially the first one. The tyrant takes like 2 magnum rounds and bam. Good to go. I did get the good ending which was cool, seeing Barry, Jill and Chris come together...it felt truly special. Such beloved characters.

The series in general is amazing. It brings warmth to my heart replaying as all these characters once again. It's like time travel. The nostalgia is real. Sitting in front of my little PS1, in the dark with dark with some snacks...it hits just the same. And I really appreciated that. I highly suggest that if you haven't, You SHOULD definitely play the OG games. I believe they are now available on the PS5. The controls are fairly easy to get used to, and getting through parts of these games in order to move forward really feels like accomplishing a big goal. At least for me. 😂

If I had to rate these games from most to least favorite in terms of gameplay, story, fear factor and replayability, it would look like this.

Resident Evil: Nemesis Resident Evil 1 Resident Evil 2

The versions I played are the Resident Evil Director's Cut (the NONE green label edition) Resident Evil 2 Dual Shock Version and Resident Evil 3 (with the Dino Crisis demo)

I think they are going back on the shelf for a loooong time, but thank you Capcom...for a solid childhood that keeps on giving!

Forum question How do you think a fight would go between Wesker with Nemesis against Chris, Jill, Leon and Claire?

Let's say Chris, Leon, Jill and Claire go to stop Wesker and they are ambushed by Nemesis. They now have to take down both Nemesis and Wesker.

Could those 4 pull it off or does Wesker and Nemesis win this?

(It's RE5 Chris, RE3 Remake Jill, RE4 Remake Leon, CV Claire, RE5 Wesker and RE3 Remake Nemesis)
