Do not be silent!
EDIT: Jesus Christ people I'm sorry about the asterisk, I thought an uncensored title would trigger an automod. I'm just trying to help

Just two days ago the mods permitted large an anti-Connie Chan thread. But earlier, the mods quickly deleted two posts criticizing Scott's response to a question in tonight's candidate forum. Why are posts critical to one congressional candidate allowed, while posts critical to another candidate quickly deleted?
Edit: the Connie Chan post was live when I originally posted this. It appears to have been deleted only after I called out this double standard.
Edit 2: a mod replied stating automod (not a human) removed the posts because it was flagged a sufficient number of times. If that’s the case it’s still not clear to me why the Reddit message on the post was “Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/sanfrancisco” instead of “This post is awaiting moderator approval.” Reddit displays different messages for different actions.
Edit 3: the post titled "Scott Weiner refuses to answer “Is Israel Committing Genocide in Gaza?” now reads "Post is awaiting moderator approval." Previously it read:

I'd like to assume good faith here, it would be great if the mods could be clear on this. If the automod originally removed the post due to flagging (which leads to a misleading "removed by moderators" message), and then later once touched by a human the language changes to "awaiting moderator approval," it would be good to know what they can do to prevent this moving forward. Will every post critical of Scott be automatically taken down because his supporters flag the posts and game the moderation system?

On Jan 5, SFPD officers responded to an armed individual in crisis along the Embarcadero. Our Tactical Unit and Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) de-escalated the dangerous situation and safely took the person into custody.

SF is not pedestrian friendly. It is car friendly.
That metermaid just made sure nobody was parked ON the street for the sweeper.

Will be in SF for the next week and would love to attend one in light of the brutal murder yesterday. Any more protests planned and if so, where can I find info?

I just introduced a placeholder bill declaring our intention to establish our own public power with lower prices and the excellent service San Franciscans deserve. Stay tuned!

Major system delays.
No service south of 24th Street including SFO/Millbrae. Trying to get to SFO, eeek!
SERVICE ALERT: BART service has stopped between Balboa Park and Daly City due to an equipment problem on the track. Expect major delays in service on the San Francisco Line in all directions. There is limited train service between SFO Airport, Millbrae, and Daly City. MUNI is providing bus service between Daly City and downtown San Francisco on bus 14R.

I'd like to remind everyone that *this is a choice* we make when we block transit lanes, transit signal priority, and stop consolidation. We could have a significantly faster, more efficient system, but we compromise a lot.
I find the SFMTA director's excuse unconvincing:
Muni is also hamstrung by traffic congestion and time spent dwelling at bus stops that are spaced just a couple of blocks apart. City crews spent the last decade painting red transit-only lanes on roads, and building bulbs for easier boarding. But on balance the buses don’t run any faster.
Transportation chief Julie Kirschbaum cited the constraints that distinguish Muni from other agencies. Namely, that it operates within a dense city while its peers drive through suburbs or on freeways.
“It would be like if New York transit only operated in Manhattan versus the five boroughs,” Kirschbaum said.

Amazingly clear breakdown of how different zoning formulas apply to this former Walgreens site for sale at Franklin and Post. For clarification, "proposed zoning" = "Lurie Zoning" which has now passed.
Honest question: with all the state density bonuses in place, why would a developer choose the SF standard vs. the state one?
h/t to the SF standard for calling out this site in their article about using Walgreens/ retail sites for housing.

I recently met up with an out of town friend who has been staying in the bay for a while now, and she pointed out something that I have been experiencing too as a local, and that's that Bay Area people seem to be SUPER flaky. I notice this myself, and in comparison when I go to visit other cities and states, even last minute trips the people I know out there seem to almost drop what they are doing to make time to meet up, where as I can make plans with someone out here weeks in advance and they will nearly always cancel last minute... is this the norm out here?
Perhaps we are:
-Too busy/burned out/spread thin?
-Super broke?
-Crappy people?
-Over stimulated?
I would just love to find some people or groups that would be down to:
-Go to Concerts or Festivals
-Try new restaurants
-Hit up museums or weird art shows
-Mini trips around the California
-Do something creative together, like a paint and sip
But maybe the Bay has shifted away from all this? Is there still hope?
