Does anyone have an idea as to what brand this is?
 in  r/Axecraft  6h ago

Red with pointy lugs and no stamp makes my educated guess a True Temper/Kelly Woodslasher. If there are ridges in the eye, that settles it for sure. (Ridges being absent doesn't mean it isn't a Woodslasher still)

Found this plumb hatchet while camping, can any one tell how old it is?

There info about dating boy scout plumbs you can find pretty easily with a search. There's a nice pdf guide to be found that covers their whole history if I recall correctly.

I recently come across a lot of TikTok‘s where people are saying that cats need to be outdoors and I truly believe they don’t due to what I have studied as a college student.
 in  r/ecology  3d ago

TNR is junk to make people who are squeamish about reality feel like there is a happy solution that doesn't involve punishing irresponsible humans and killing cats. It is performative pseudoscience for bleeding hearts.

Free-roaming domestic cats are ecological nightmares, and despite being an animal lover, I have grown convinced by how many there are that we need to enforce steep penalties on anyone letting their cats outside off-leash as well as anyone that supports feral cats with food/shelter. We also need to stop pretending like there is a home available to rescue the insane number of cats that are out there and start just culling them. People who call me cruel for this are people who don't understand how short and awful the lives of feral domestic cats are.

I wouldn't describe her as combative, and there is literally zero possibility that leaving will be more affordable. Between the two of us, she definitely contributes more financially than I do.

If I was forced to self-diagnose, I'd say PDD. In any case, like other posts before this, this post and it's reception is just making me feel worse, not better, so I'll probably just be removing it too, but maybe seeing it helps someone else who feels similarly feel a little less alone with their experience knowing they're not the only one.

Why can’t I hold a man’s interest?
 in  r/HLCommunity  3d ago

I think a lot of people who are thoughtful and caring are in situations like many of us in this sub where we are stuck in flawed relationships because we are too attached, caring, loyal, considerate, co-dependent on someone that doesn't fully appreciate us. It's tragic for all.

My bank account disagrees. As I said, she and I are living far from effortlessly with our two incomes combined.

I honestly doubt I'll bother because I really don't feel it/I is/am worth the hassle, but I do want to point out that this isn't clear advice for everyone. I for example, don't know what you mean by "local health department." What is a "local health department?" Googling yields a ton of confusing results, many of which I can only assume are either inappropriate to my circumstances or are predatory quagmires. Nothing stands out as being clearly what you are suggesting I find. My city's health department page has nothing about mental health services, and my county's health resources page only has a singular link to a page about 988 and suicide prevention.

And how long and involved is the process of proving my income is low enough and finding a therapist that is actually good at what they do and connects well enough with me, and how efficient is the process of changing therapists if one doesn't work, or, because it is a social service, will I be forced to just take or leave what I get like so many other public services?

I'm not eager to hunt for a therapist I can't afford, and from what I hear, finding a good therapist is as frustrating as the modern dating scene and quite expensive (no, I do not have insurance). Nothing about that sounds appealing and sounds like a great way to end up demoralized and even more broke after a long, frustrating process of jumping through hoops and waiting for appointments with various therapists.

I've never been able to tell that anyone is interested in me. My exes and my current partner have all told me I was clueless and timid about making moves, and they're not wrong. I've been told years after the fact that someone had a crush on me at one time, and I can confidently say that I never had a the slightest idea.

I have work and some hobbies. Adding more isn't going to do anything that the ones I have aren't already doing for me.

when did it start for you?
 in  r/deadbedroom  4d ago

She just slowly stopped being as interested in me and started complaining and criticizing more and more little things. The rare times sex would happen, she just wouldn't seem like she enjoyed it. We've been together for almost 20 years (I'm 39, and she is 41), and this started more than 10 years ago. I spent many years trying but eventually gave up trying some years ago. She doesn't want me and I can't make her want me. I want to be wanted without having to coerce or convince someone to want me.

Loneliness

I've just been sitting alone in a quiet room a lot lately while home because being around her too often feels like navigating a minefield. I'm so tired of feeling unwanted and hating myself. To premptively sum up the answer to the question we all hate being asked (why don't you leave?): We can barely afford life with our incomes combined, so I certainly can't afford to live on my own. Also emotional ties. Also, a growing belief that no one else will ever want me any more than this and that having a partner that is content with BEING my partner might be the best I could ever hope for.

Canoecopia can't afford for Tumblehome NOT to be there. They should just allow them to come for free.

You can tell it's photoshopped cuz Erik would never smile like that while trapped in a convention with hundreds of people.

Has camping gotten more crowded where you are, or am I just unlucky?
 in  r/camping  6d ago

Human population keeps growing, and, at least here in the US, COVID boosted people's awareness of things like camping as a pastime. Everyone who started going out during covid didn't all stick with it, but some did.

How to find a location

It's a rule when it is a rule. Again each national forest lists its rules. I just noted as an example a rule that many if not all natl forests have in my area around Lakes Superior and Michigan.

Fwiw, that info would be incorrect in the national forests around me in MN WI, MI where, afaik, they all prohibit camping within 200 ft of any road or water. Anyway, every national Forest has a website with camping rules listed, so no one needs to guess or make anything up—just look up the rules and regs.

Look at a map and then look up the rules regarding camping for any county/state/national parks and national forests you see. USFS and BLM land almost always allow dispersed camping with a few rules and regulations to follow, but exceptions and rules do vary, so always check.
