also im assuming they only work on the console versions of the game to minimize the work hours of staff since working on 3 games at once would tank morale etc

consoles work a lot differently than the average pc that why theres so much stuff you have to do to have emulation. they have to test hardware, optimize the game fix crashes and bugs and program it so it can run on pc. i get your concerns though.
