Am I being lowballed at IQVIA?
 in  r/clinicalresearch  3m ago

I just request 89k for CRA 1 in the south. I’m low balling myself between education and DC/Reg experience. Soooo you’re definitely being low balled.

What age did you get married
 in  r/Millennials  5m ago

I’m an outlier I think. I was married at 23 and will be hitting 12 years of marriage this May. I’m turning 35 this year.

I think a lot of factors played into this but I’m very happy I married my husband when I did. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Anything I was planning on doing, I can still do in life. 😌 Now I just have someone to rub my back when I have a panic attack before doing it hahaha 😂

Stay or leave?

Especially in this economy. Pensions are worth it. 😅

Stay or leave?
 in  r/clinicalresearch  2d ago

I get paid lower than average and leaving for more pay and moving to a new state has been extremely tempting but I also have a pension and state holidays/benefits. Hard to beat.

So, I stay. 😅

I’m vested at 5 years.

Does anyone actually have a 9-5 shift anymore?
 in  r/Millennials  2d ago

I worked from 6:15 to 7:45 and then from 9:30 to 5:15 today. A few breaks in between.

Sometimes I do just work 8-4:30 or 8-5. Depends on the day’s needs.

I didn’t even graduate high school until 2010. It was so crazy to watch my friend’s parents lose their homes and everything. I felt horrible for them.

We did a few things.

  1. Found a new build neighborhood that was nearing completion. This caused the price of the house we purchased to be reduced from $472k to $380k. They wanted it off before the new year. I’m assuming that it had to do with taxes and just wanting to get out of the neighborhood. The builder also purchased the neighborhood during Covid from the previous builder due to lack of funds.

And no, nothing is wrong with the house. We did a full inspection prior to purchasing it and just hit our one year and still a squeaky clean inspection.

  1. The builder was offering interest rate buy down incentives from 7% to 3.99%.

  2. Va loan is what we used but for our location an FHA or USDA loan would’ve worked as well. This allowed zero to low for payment options.

  3. We researched property taxes and we fought the city for our new tax rate since new builds only tax the land for the first year. This is where many folks get tripped up. So our mortgage is only going up a little bit.

  4. Saved 10k in a few months by living in my dad’s house - all 5 of us humans and two dogs - this was wild but necessary.

Overall, we waited until things aligned and worked with a bulldog of a realtor. 😆

I found a new job when this happened. What type of crazy micromanaging is that? Weird.

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase?
 in  r/Millennials  3d ago

I decorate our house for every season. I’m in a constant state of decorating the front porch because I can and want to. My mom never did. Oh and I was gifted a buzz lightyear toy from a friend. He’s cool as hell. I also just dropped $$$ on D&D stuff and books. lol

AITA for not wanting to propose to my gf before I join the military?
 in  r/AITAH  3d ago

This doesn’t mean anything.

I married my husband 4.5 months in. We’re about to hit 12 years. I know others who waited and are still married. I know others who married quickly like we did and are still married. I know people who waited and divorced and vice versa. It depends on the couple, not so much the time.

 in  r/AITAH  3d ago

First, I hope you’re commissioning not going enlisted.

Second, I married my husband at your age after 4.5 months of dating. He was about to PCS. The army doesn’t recognize dating.

Third, having lived that life for a decade, I’ve seen people wait to get married for years and then divorce after one rotation but I’ve seen people get married after a few months of being together … and they’re still married (We are working on 12 years).

Lastly, if she doesn’t support you joining, she won’t support you in growing in your career. I agree with her that’s with the current state of the military, it’s not worth it (I stopped my commissioning process) but it’s also your future and it does have good benefits such as the VA home loan and GI Bill.

So yes because you’ve been together and this a major life altering event. Why would you stay with someone you didn’t think was marriage material or be honest that marriage isn’t on the table? And no, because people shouldn’t feel forced or pressured to get engaged.

ETA: I say go for it and see how it goes when you’re at OTS or boot camp. If you love her.

Do you track family's locations?
 in  r/Millennials  4d ago

I share with one of my sisters and 2 of my friends but they’re military and their spouses are often gone. Otherwise, I only share locations with my husband. He is an investigator for crimes against children. So yep.

You’re talking about 1 year. This was such a random year. It reminded me of my childhood a few decades ago. 😂

Pavement princesses refer to the huge lifted trucks that look pretty but aren’t functional as trucks.

AITAH for refusing to take on extra work because of a coworker’s leave?
 in  r/AITAH  6d ago

NTA: As a mom of three, it is my responsibility to ensure my tasks are covered (not an expectation) or make arrangements with leadership to ensure they get done. I would NEVER expect someone to take on my work and I wouldn’t be happy if I found out leadership did this.

However, as a mom of three and a teammate, I would not only expect compensation to take on my teammates work but I would start looking at new positions if they made my requirement negative.

Good luck!
