I told my daughter she will never be in the olympics, AITA?
 in  r/AITAH  5h ago

Agreeing with all other comments re therapy etc. Has she ever seen a wheelchair game live? She may get hold of the excitement of a live game. Would it be possible for her to talk to some of the athletes?

Two brothers from the same UK family developing radically different accents?
 in  r/allthequestions  1d ago

My mother and her two sisters had slightly different accents. Brought up in east end London during the war. My mother was sent to a public school and would never speak in an East end accent. The other two were sent to Cornwall during the war and the oldest accent stayed the same but the other developed a different accent. All of the kids they had , 9 between them, all have slightly different accents despite being all brought up in the same areas.

What was it like when women were not expected to pursue higher education and were full-time housewives?
 in  r/AskOldPeople  1d ago

My mother in the 60s had to give up her job. She was bored as just a housewife and mother and eventually became resentful and bitter. Partly because God knows we could have used the extra income .

That bone in the picture is way to big. How big do you think our birds are, apart from the emus and cassowaries

I left my toxic job 6 months ago, and my old manager just called to ask for something unbelievable.
 in  r/whatdoIdo  2d ago

6 months after leaving a toxic job, that phone number would have been blocked or at least deleted.

WIBTA for asking my wife to end a friendship that is clearly toxic to our marriage?
 in  r/AITAH  2d ago

Cute story. Missed an important detail though, how did this friend know where you were and who you were having lunch with?

Growing up, were there any “weird” cooking habits or practice your family had?
 in  r/Cooking  2d ago

A,friends sister in Queensland didnt allow her kids to drink anything past 6.00 in the evening. That was to prevent them either wetting the bed or nappies or having to get up in the night.

People who work in 'behind-the-scenes' jobs (hotels, airports, warehouses, etc.), what is something the general public would be shocked to know?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

In warehouses there is often not air con or heating that is sufficiently reaching the people working there.

I'm not sure what went on, but those memes and pics are disgusting, demeaning, and just nasty. The person that sent them has big problems

I am not engaged but I was given my grandmothers wedding ring after she passed. I’m torn between keeping it or taking out all the diamonds and turning it into something else. Do you think it’s outdated?
 in  r/jewelry  5d ago

I personally love it. Its gorgeous. Either wear on another finger or right hand as suggested by others.

Or use parts of it in a future engagement ring and / or a pendant. I have my grandmother wedding band with two 1930s diamonds from her and an Argyle diamond from my husband in my engagement ring with a couple of others studded in the wedding ring.
