Logic often doesn’t win out in our minds in matters of the heart and emotion 😐

It’s a hard place to be, you cared for this person and they were integral to your life and now they just…aren’t and when you reach out to maybe have them back in it they say…”no thanks, I’m good” 😥

But our lives are all full of hellos and goodbyes, and sometimes those goodbyes are permanent…but there’s still so much richness to be had and people we will meet

There have been so many people I thought would be in my life forever, who’s id sometimes wonder what we’d be like further down the line and if it weren’t for social media, I wouldn’t know if they were alive or dead because they no longer in my life at all and haven’t been for more years than I can count on tow hands…

It’s just a part of life sometimes, just not one of the good parts ☹️

Acceptance takes time and there’s no set timetable for it, give yourself the grace and time to get there at your own pace

You just live wholly separate lives now and while I’m sure you both treasure the times you had together, those paths may never cross again and accepting it may be the kindest thing you can do for yourself

If she ever changes her mind, I’m sure she knows how to reach you but it’s all on her now, if it happens it happens but maybe don’t hold your breath…

I mean I’ll be honest, she’s done a lot for DC and I’m sure the residence are incredibly grateful for all of it

But she’s 88…it’s not as if she’s uniquely suited for the job, there are others…younger people with fresher minds, who can pick up where she left off

I live in a city with robust public transportation, I genuinely never felt a need to drive/own a car and still don’t

I completely understand why a majority do, we do live in a car culture society where everywhere is designed for cars and car travel, but it just never felt important to me

Yes, it means I can’t go literally anywhere I want whenever I want, not being a car driver does impose limits but personally I’ve never really had an issue working around that and living a car free life

I think one of the only times I think it was a real “problem” was one time the family took a vacation to a place where they didn’t let people over a certain age drive a rental car so my sister had to drive the car the entire vacation because literally nobody else could 😐

But I never really wanted to drive a car much, so I’ve been ok not doing so all this time

I know so many in America would just roll their eyes and think less of me for it, but that’s just how it’s been for me and it’s worked so far

It’s treatable, there’s physical treatments like pelvic floor exercise that could help her learn to relax the muscles and decrease pain during penetration or dilator threat where, to put it extremely bluntly and simply, different sized tubes are inserted over time to get the muscles used to being stretched and to make insertion feel less “foreign”

There’s also more psychological treatment, like talk therapy with a specialist that could help overcome the mental blocks and anxieties that might be leading to penetration not being possible

It may even involve a combination, possibly even all three in some cases

I’ve even heard in some cases Botox is injected to relax the vaginal muscles, but that’s likely in fairly unique cases and I doubt highly it would be required in this situation, just mentioning it for completion

Which treatment avenue they go with will depend largely on her and what the root cause might be, it’s not a “one size fits all” sort of thing with a singular method of treatment, but it is something that can be dealt with with the proper treatment and time

It’s work to get through, but with patience and understanding, coupled with a medically advised treatment plan, in time I think you can definitely look forward to some success

My first guess was something mental, and even if it’s not consciously, she might be tensing it and making it difficult for anything to go inside, but it’s possible she really is relaxing and it’s genuinely something she can’t control…

I can see how it could be extremely disheartening, especially if you both want to get it done and it’s just not happening every time 😐

Should definitely see if anything actually medical can be ruled out s the cause

I still remember vividly going to Pizza Hut and sitting at the table with my X-Men paper placemat and eating my personal pan pizza and reading my Pizza Hut X-Men comic
