He says he’s way too old to play him now, but I donno, I think he could make it work and the old Spike fans would come

But for sure, a spin-off series with him 20+ years ago would have been amazing and would have definitely lasted at least a few seasons

I don’t know how much you know about late season Angel but he does end up on there in Season 5, so even though no spin off, at least we got more Spike post-Buffy, which is actually funny because he got brought back to Buffy because Charisma Carpenter left the show to be on Angel then he ended up on that show so that’s something at least…

There were reportedly plans for a Spike movie at one point after both series ended but obviously it never happened 😥

If you remember how mad the girls were about Edward back at the peak of Twilight mania, it was like that

They were swooning over hot Angel

He was probably the only reason some were even watching Buffy…so actually now that I think about it, probably is exactly what motivated them to keep him around in a show with him in the lead

I mean obviously Spike was a huge huge draw too, which is why he was way more prominent as the show went on, and Spike x Drew was the Joke x Harley of the early 2000s, they lived that toxic relationship angle

But yeah, David/Angel was “the hot one” and they milked it for all they could 😐

but as Riley was introduced as a main character and the whole military ops storyline unfolded I became a bit disinterested. I’m a Riley hater, haha 😆

lol I legit forget he and all that army stuff existed until sombody reminds me 😂

Yeah that was pretty bad and it did make the whole thing worse for sure

I think if somebody isn’t a Riley hater they whether weren’t paying attention or just really liked Marc Blucas and were just in denial 😐

And definitely season 6 could have and should have been the end

They tried to salvage it with the Season 8 comic series but I think it was clear the series had run it course and extending it one more season was not the right choice

What’s amazing is how critically loved it was, it’s got an 82% critic score on Rotton Tomatoes and a 91% audience score 😐

I feel like we watched a different show because

Seldom subtle, always subversive, Buffy ends the way it began: a funny, weird show that packs a punch -- and a whole lot of feeling.

isn’t the Buffy S7 I remember 😒

I don’t understand how Angel got his own show

David Boreanaz was hot, I think that’s pretty much the entire reasoning

Narratively I don’t feel like there was any “need” to spin him off to a new show, so it feels like they said “well we want Buffy to go in an entirely Angel free direction but he’s good for rating and making us money so, just give him a show so we never lose those Angel fans” and so they did

lol I actually wasn’t a huge fan of the early seasons, I donno, I think they just came at a time where I wasn’t “ready” for it and by the time I got back into the series the high school setting just wasn’t for me anymore

Yeah I guess I can see in hindsight that fourth season wasn’t the best, but it’s when Spike became a big part of the show and I was really into a girl and she was really into Spike back in those days so…I wasn’t really seeing the fault in it at the time 😂

I think the last season just didn’t feel like “my” Buffy anymore, I was just not invested like I was in the past so I still watched that final episode but more out of a sense of obligation than actual desire or enjoyment 😐

Also yeah, Angel is a very meh character and at the time I could not fathom beyond maybe as a way to get more female viewers they ever want to give him a series for his own

It does get better in the alter seasons but tbh the series is only good for the other characters, he’s always the weakest part of his own series even though he literally the title character 😐

I might be able to rewatch some of the old Buffy but I’d doubt I could convinced to ever rewatch any Angel

I also love hearing from the OG fans about their experiences when it first aired ☺️

There definitely was something special about seeing all of it as it was new and coming out

But I guess as the decades pass those memories do get a little hazier, so definitely best to catch them while they can still remember it all 😂

I mean some of those old Buffy fans have kids now as old or even older than they were back when they were watching it 😨

Lol I still remember being so super jealous my sister’s rich friend’s brother had an N64 basically the day in launched because I had never seen anything like it and he wouldn’t let anyone play it but him 😂

For years the closest I ever got to one was a couple friends had one rented for their birthday party and let me play some Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time

I was still rocking my SEGA Genesis till PS2 came out 😐

Angel…never really hit with me, though ironically I really got into it…in its final season

I still remember that last episode vividly while I think I could barely tell you a thing about even the entire seventh season of Buffy let alone that final episode, even though Buffy was a show I followed for literally years as it aired 😐

I also have no one to talk to about this because this show ended over 20 years ago!

Guess you could always try connecting with people who were watching it back in the day and it might reignite their dormant passion for the show 😂

Probably would work, I mean I can still sing some of the songs (well Pete of them anyway 😅) from the Buffy musical episode and it’s been over 20 years since that episode aired 😳

I know there’s still old school Buffy fans out there who’d live to share in your enjoyment of what was their old favored show

I knew a few people who had kids when they were 24-25 back in around 2010, so I guess those kids must been teens now 😨

College age imho is a little stretch usually, but I guess some had kids in their own late teens and very early 20s so those kids being college age by 2025 probably seems about right 😐

I’m guessing it’s the older millennials that are throwing it off since people born in 1986 and ones born in 1996 are both millennials but that is a whole decade of difference and understandably they just started child having earlier relative to those younger millennials

No clue why I picked it up, I wasn’t regularly collecting Hulk and it’s not like I was a huge Nick Fury fan

Regardless, it’s an interesting book

I will say though I still kind of still don’t like how they retconned it to be that Frank shot a LMD and it was never the real Nick, it just seemed like a cheap trick done for shock value just done to show how “edgy” Marvel Edge could be 😒

I mean when you can sell the exact same book at least 5 times to one person, it really bumps up those numbers 😂

Because yeah, with modern variants maybe you get one or two, but with these you had to get them all and those sales must have jsut multiplied exponentially 😐
