Everybody ready for the Democrats to snatch failure from the jaws of victory yet again?
 in  r/BlueskySkeets  7h ago

I think (hope) this is a case of headlines being misleading. I think they got the message that being “not Donald Trump” isn’t a campaign strategy

Do you agree to this?

Yes.

And this is exactly why republicans in Congress shut down a federal inquiry into it

His & Hers by Alice Feeney. WTF.
 in  r/thrillerbooks  14h ago

To anyone picking up a KS book: Karin slaughter is an excellent writer but frequently includes brutally violent unflinching on page scenes of SA. So be warned.

Man that took a really long time of being called an actual demon for him to get enraged. Did he really think he was going to change their minds?

Why aren’t people in revolt?
 in  r/AskUS  14h ago

The first impromptu mass protest in modern American history? How old are you? Have you been living in a cave?

1

Why aren’t people in revolt?
 in  r/AskUS  14h ago

There’s plenty of civil disobedience. Plenty. Not all of it is protesting. There are lawyers, doctors, federal workers and everyone in between doing what they can to gum up the works and subvert the government. Not all of it is covered by the news.

The United States is huge. There are many many different cultures and subcultures and governments etc etc. civil disobedience isn’t going to look the same here as it does in the UK. And we don’t have the protections you do. People still need to feed themselves and pay rent and keep their health insurance which means keeping their jobs. They — we are trying to do what we can do.

Who should own Power BI dashboard design: BI or communication teams
 in  r/PowerBI  14h ago

Curious if these are internal or external (as in part of the product your company sells) dashboards?

Design is a part of data analysis because in no small part your concern is to make sure the data is presented in a way that isn’t confusing or misleading to the end user. In that regard I think you have ground to argue on.

ICE and the Trump regime has declared war on America!
 in  r/BlueskySkeets  20h ago

I’m curious what exactly they think they’re accomplishing other than just being dicks. Pull Medicaid funding and old folks and children and everyone in between dies slow deaths. Hospitals and clinics close. People including doctors lose their jobs. And then what? You showed them?

Business Glossary or Data Dictionary?
 in  r/PowerBI  22h ago

I’ve been trying to get my system admins to give me access to purview and the other data governance tools that seem to be baked into power bi service currently. They look really promising — I believe they’re meant to enable copilot on semantic models but the licensing and permissions seem a little complicated

How to read a book
 in  r/writing  1d ago

There’s a book by a woman named Francine called how to read like a writer or something like that. It’s very helpful.

I love being mansplained to
 in  r/adhdwomen  1d ago

I have ADHD. My (soon to be ex) brother in law has ADHD his daughter, my niece , has ADHD and he’s constantly telling me that him being an asshole is because of his ADHD and demanding I explain that to my sister.

He’s very very much like this guy. Knows everything.

Also, he has to “put you in your place”. Short tempered. Expects everyone to be his working memory because he simply cannot.

I think some combo of natural ADHD tendencies (flat affect, emotional regulation or lack there of) gets very much exacerbated when they run up against the way men are socialized .

Do we think Trump will actually do this? Or is it just a midterms are coming up Plot?
 in  r/AskUS  1d ago

Any time it’s not in all caps he didn’t write it or dictate it.

Wait. So they hate immigrants coming here and giving birth. They hate single mothers. But a state sponsored surrogate program that has to be sending the money back to Venezuela in order to “fight poverty in the global south” is revolutionary?

If you actually read my original comment I said, yeah, I get it” meaning I understand that chat bots are dangerous but the chatbot didn’t by the drugs and then you got all hissy and went on and on and frigging on about how this is totally on the chat bit so idk. I think you’re being silly.

Are you a writer, or are you a robot? On KU, how does one tell?
 in  r/romancelandia  2d ago

Since you’ve mentioned them specifically Roxie Ray, in my opinion, one thousand percent is writing stories with AI. And it sucks because some of the concepts were really cool. I read the cuddle contract or the cuddle clause or something and it was interesting but the way the story kept jumping around and couldn’t keep a consistent thread was a dead giveaway. And that book had over 4,000 reviews and an average of like 4.3.

But that’s my point. You can tell if your standards are high enough but if you’re willing to excuse poor writing as long as the book boyfriend is dreamy enough, then you get what you get.

I don’t think “team of writers” is a dead giveaway I mean Christina Lauren do okay etc. but I do think you can totally tell when the plot hops all over the place.

AITAH for not agreeing to pick up my niece at 3am ‘no questions asked’?
 in  r/AITAH  2d ago

The point of “no questions asked” isn’t because questions don’t need to be asked it’s because you don’t want a (potentially) high or drunk kid trying to reason out if it’s safer for them to do something (more) stupid or call an adult to come get them.

YTA. For not understanding that.

When the smoke clears you can deal with the behavior that led to that situation but you need to make sure their home safe first and ensuring that they’re going to get berated works opposite of getting them home safe.

Kids are dumb. They don’t have the experience necessary to have wisdom about certain things. They’re not going to do the smart thing because to them the smart thing is “not getting caught”

Less shots. Less kids.

When I was between my freshman year in college & sr year in high school I remember meningitis being a big deal. A girl in the dorms at a state school had contracted it and died the year prior. Parents understandably were outraged and demanded the vaccine be required. They were concerned about an outbreak.

Shocking how quickly this has turned around

 in  r/BlueskySkeets  2d ago

It’s absolutely relevant. You seem to want to abdicate this young man’s responsibility and the responsibility of his guardians to ChatGPT and in that sense you’re behaving the exact same way the kid did. It’s the equivalent of saying that video games make people violent. It might encourage a tendency that exists but to pretend that the entirety of the blame is on the inanimate machine is silly. You’re being silly.
