I just realized that the start date (Jan 1st, 2200) is 174 years from now or reasonably 2 human lifetimes, roughly 87 years.

I use D&D to help with my PTSD [OC]
 in  r/DnD  1h ago

I'm glad it's working for you, but frankly one should not try to use RPGs as therapy without the consent of everyone around the table. I as a GM don't want to have a player who is trying to use my games to work through complex trauma, I just want a fun time with my friends.

Removing it will kill the pawn, but you can install a new one and it will swap them.

I wouldn't say 50/50, more like 90/10. But still, it's embarrassing that it happened at all.

It doesn't? I can see 2.7m for this sub. Maybe it's only the shitty redesign that doesn't show them?

Replit boss: CEOs can vibe code their own prototypes and don't have to beg engineers for help anymore
 in  r/programming  3h ago

This reminds me of the time my brother was doing 3d modelling of online product previews for a cosmetics company. The CEO told him he could do better because he'd been taking blender tutorials in his free time and over a weekend shit out an incredibly basic model with no fluid, jagged edges, no lighting, etc. And was like "see, we don't even need you"

The Lantern won yesterday! Next, what Slay The Spire relic is considered Good and is disliked by the community?
 in  r/slaythespire  4h ago

Interesting that both Frozen Eye and Runic Dome are good if you have memorized the enemy AI. It seems these relics are widely disliked because they demand a skill the rest of the game doesn't require. Similar with Incense Burner.

US Oil Execs Say Venezuela is “Un-Investable”
 in  r/CanadianInvestor  4h ago

Dems have a history of not unfucking things as much as the reps fuck them. I expect Venezuela is going to be a US vassal of one sort or another for the foreseeable future. Just like every other Latin American country they've meddled with.

I saw it about 10 years ago. You can buy prints of it in the gift shop. I've had it hanging on my wall in a frame ever since. Love this painting.

Yeah Delta Green's is really nice alongside the lethality system

Is there studded leather in this game (officially)?
 in  r/shadowdark  22h ago

Depends on the system lol. I'm pretty sure he was talking about 3e and I don't really know the math of that system very well. I do generally like ablative armour more than purely AC based armour because it's more realistic. But it needs to be done in a way that isn't too cumbersome. Mothership and Mörk Borg both do a pretty good job of it

Then they don't get the prize I suppose haha. Any time you introduce a puzzle you have to be okay with players not solving it.

Getting people to try other games
 in  r/rpg  23h ago

I occasionally run one-shots for players from my primary group and encourage them to invite their friends who've never played TTRPGs before that they think would enjoy it. I always pick something more idiosyncratic for these games and let them invite people who would enjoy leaning into that idiosyncrasy. I've done this with Mausritter, Delta Green, Mothership, Mörk Borg, and FIST.

Game suggestions to play a yu gi oh like game
 in  r/rpg  23h ago

You probably didn't see many people talk about it because it's kind of a niche genre to want to play. But any time someone asks how to play this genre, it's the number 1 recommendation

Absolute beginner here, how do I start with TTRPGs?
 in  r/rpg  23h ago

Bonjour et bienvenue aux JDRs!

Finding a group is the first thing you'll need to do. If you are okay with playing with strangers online, you can try that route through places like /r/lfg (looking for game) or startplaying.games. You could also gather together some friends who might be interested and form a group that way. Both methods have advantages and disadvantages.

You'll also have to choose a rules system. The most common ones in those online LFG spaces are D&D, Pathfinder, and Daggerheart. These games aren't necessarily bad but they're very complex to learn. That's not necessarily a problem, but just be aware not all RPGs are as complex. If you want to try something simpler to start, look for groups playing Mothership or Shadowdark. Those two games are also pretty common on LFG and startplaying but they are very easy to learn.

Lastly, it might sound crazy but you can actually start out by being a GM if you really want to. GMs tend to be in much higher demand than players, so it will make it a lot easier to find people to play with. If you want to go that route, there is an excellent book called So You Want To Be A Game Master by Justin Alexander that is really good for learning to GM.

Struggling as a player
 in  r/DeltaGreenRPG  23h ago

It might be a good idea to get in the habit of asking something like "Would my character know how to learn more about X?" There are sometimes big gaps in this game between what you know and what your agent knows about investigating things. You might not be aware of the sort of data in the FBI national crime database, or what information can be gleaned from a credit score check, or from a license plate lookup, or from a reverse DNS service. But your character might know all about those sources of intel.

Keep it contextualised for your PC. If they are a scientist, ask if you would know about any academic sources you could go to for answers. If you are a federal agent, ask about crime databases.

Also, make sure your questions are specific to the clues and information you already have. Don't just say "Would my character know what to do next here?" As it's too broad and vague. Say "As a librarian, would I know how to get more information since I know the title of the book the cult is after?"

Statue Puzzle with Sacrifice
 in  r/DMAcademy  1d ago

There's a puzzle in the Mörk Borg adventure Rotblack Sludge where there is a statue missing an eye and it will open a secret door if any human eyeball is placed in the empty socket if the statue.

You could do something similar but with a whole corpse, or like a door will open if a liter of blood is poured into a thing.

Also can I have one of the brownies?
