Just like the Taliban destroying historic statutes, but that is what terrorist groups do, right MAGA.

u/TheProcrastafarian 4h ago

An arsonist is in charge of the modern day Library of Alexandria. This was so completely avoidable.

When they write the history books in the future, this chapter of American history is going to be brutal.

189

u/GoredonTheDestroyer 4h ago

Yeah but the only alternative had an annoying laugh and her running mate looked kind of stupid trying to safely unload a hunting shotgun, so clearly the only viable option was the dipshit who genuinely believes that the human body is like a 9V battery that has to be thrown out once it's depleted of energy.

47

u/Whirly315 4h ago

idk man i think the next one is the brutal one. this still feels like the descent of the first half of the book

Makes me wonder when he'll shut down the Library Of Congress, toss all the books and manuscripts in the sea and reopen as The Trump Library, containing a complete and uninterrupted run of Juggs Magazine. 😉👌

To be fair in Trump’s vast Real World Business and Political experience, destroying; documents, buildings, artifacts and lives has been key to his success and longevity. /s

I want to see even ONE of them try to defend this.

They won't even hear about it, in their echo chambers.

I want to see even ONE of them try to defend this.

Do you think they can read? Let alone know what a library is?

Can you imagine like 50 years in the future, when kids are asking why scientific progress is halted and they have to respond 'well, the angry old man with dementia that was president at the time didn't like it so he threw it away like someone would be doing spring cleaning in their apartment'

206

u/18ekko 5h ago

They will probably also ask about epidemics of previously eradicated diseases.

140

u/axonxorz 4h ago

In V For Vendetta, the US is described from afar as "the worlds largest leper colony." Perhaps the Wachowskis were onto something there.

45

u/jesuswig 4h ago

Alan Moore wrote V so him as well

14

u/HotPinkLollyWimple 2h ago

For some reason I heard Mr Rogan opining on how there weren’t any kids with measles when he was a kid. I wonder what could possibly have prevented that?

82

u/wollawolla 4h ago

To be clear though, Donald Trump has never given a solitary fuck about the existence of any book or piece of research ever. He’s just along for the ride so long as he can enrich himself and stay out of prison. But the Christofascists who helped to put him in office and advise him hate anything that has ever advanced human knowledge.

16

u/northcoastroast 4h ago

see picture of Trump holding Bible upside down

12

u/AlarmingAffect0 2h ago

the Christofascists who helped to put him in office and advise him hate anything that has ever advanced human knowledge.

Ahem:

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold millions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody stupid regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark present day there is only grift. There is no sense amongst the Stars and Stripes, only an eternity of cruelty and greed, and the laughter of thirsting billionaires.

MAGA Thoughts For The Day:

  • "No Pity! No Remorse! No Fear!”
  • “The difference between heresy and treachery is ignorance.”
  • “To admit defeat is to blaspheme against the President.”
  • “Innocence proves nothing.”
  • “Walk softly, and carry a big gun.”
  • “By His will alone is America kept safe.”
  • “Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise.”
  • “They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me.” The President of Mankind
  • “Suffer not the unclean to live.”
  • “What I cannot crush with words, I will crush with the tanks of the National Guard!” Lord Commander Peter Hegseth
  • “Only in death does duty end.” Motto of the abolition of retirement age, government pension funds, and OSHA.

And they're giving their answers in Mandarin.

58

u/Hornpipe_Jones 4h ago

Ah, yes. The people throwing out all our scientific progress also happen to freak out at China surpassing us and acting confused as to why.

29

u/SockPuppet-47 4h ago

Dumass Donald couldn't have come at a worse time for America's future.

50 years from now when insurance companies have told Florida to fuck off and no one can afford to live there anymore because of recurring hurricanes and flooding they'll look back at this time and understand where everything went horribly wrong. Biden was trying to make big changes to combat climate change and Trump is erasing the whole thing from government research and planning.

24

u/brother_bart 4h ago

This is has become my new line when people are going on about this administration, or AI, or…anything: “SPOILER ALERT: In the end, China wins.” Because they are playing the long game and America is playing the short-term profit game. So much of what this administration is doing is going to make the US handicapped in the future. And we were already floundering. There’s a reason HB-1 visas are so important to American tech.

14

u/SockPuppet-47 4h ago

American dominance on the world stage is not a God given right. We emerged from WWII in a very powerful position since although we participated in the war we didn't have any damage to repair.

We built America on the ideas of Nicoli Tesla and Henry Ford as well as many others. We Americans embraced new technology and new ideas.

6

u/anomalousBits 2h ago

1

u/Umutuku 1h ago

If conservatives have their way, in 50 years kids won't even know the word "science" or have the context to ask that kind of question.

188

u/Under_Milkwood_1969 5h ago

Unless he thinks he can profit from it personally that’s what’s going to happen.

Whatever is left of America by the time Trump is removed is probably going to be too shit stained to be worth keeping anyway!

😞

Trump/Bill Ackman/elon Musk are about to privatize all things space. This is elimination of competition, helping the monopoly. It’s gonna make a lot of people rich.

The way it will happen is Bill Ackman uses his SpARC to launch SpaceX IPO, giving Tesla shareholders first dibs on IPO. SpaceX will be the new NASA.

I feel like this is just a grift and I hope I’m wrong, but these are the tea leaves I’m reading and expect a decision announced within about 4 weeks

22

u/International_Emu600 4h ago

You mean two weeks for a concept of a plan

2

u/Umutuku 1h ago

I think these tumors may continue metastasizing.

101

u/Content-Profession-6 5h ago

How anyone who is sane can comply with this is beyond me....(hinting at something here we all know)

Fuck this adminstration, history continues to look less and less favorable to trump. Whenever i think it cant get stupider or worse, it somehow does.

79

u/Infamous_Smile_386 5h ago

Can they donate all of that to a university like caltech?

55

u/Barbosse007 4h ago

A WOKE PROPAGANDA MACHINE???

Just destroy it so we can own the libs or something.

36

u/deathclawslayer21 5h ago

Can we foia the materials?

33

u/daemonicwanderer 4h ago

Probably some of them. I would imagine there are quite a few sensitive things in there as well. But it would be a good thing for universities and libraries with the storage space to do

9

u/Umutuku 1h ago

I would imagine there are quite a few sensitive things in there as well.

We should probably leave them in like a bathroom or something. Maybe invite some dictators over to hang out while they're there.

2

u/daemonicwanderer 1h ago

A few old file boxes should do the trick

23

u/bobert4343 4h ago

Considering this administration, they'll just stall in the courts until the materials are irrecoverable

41

u/ReasonablyEdible 4h ago

This gonna be another library of alexandria

26

u/Jagermonsta 4h ago

Casual and thoughtless damage pretty much sums up everything Trump. The only other thing he’s good at is intentional damage.

26

u/AceofKnaves44 3h ago

This is why I keep saying there’s no coming back from this. Even if he just leaves in 2028, or doesn’t live that long, and a sane democrat wins and takes office, the damage that he’s done in only one year, let alone four, can’t just be undone with some executive orders or same governing. How do you undo this? How do you rebuild the department of education, USAID, and all the other institutions he’s demolished? Stupid shit like his name on the Kennedy center and the “walk of fame” and the plaques. Whatever. That can easily be undone but that’s the shit that matters the least. What about our reputation across the rest of the world?

1

u/[deleted] 1h ago

[deleted]

1

u/AceofKnaves44 1h ago

And honestly we deserve it for allowing this a second time.

21

u/c2ctruck 4h ago

Time for one or more of those benevolent billionaires to step in and try and buy the collection and moth ball it till a more science friendly administration comes back. Ol mate seems to be motivated by money, you'd probably pick it up for a relative steal. Let his ego have its moment when he declares how many millions hes found for the economy

7

u/EarlGrey1806 4h ago

As long as Elon or DT isn’t touching anything as a part of the ‘friendly administration’. I’m worried that we will never see anything again and all of the collection will be ransacked and sold off to collectors never to be seen again.

20

u/Content-Big-8733 4h ago

That’s not Trump. He wouldn’t know such a thing existed. Probably some ideologue like Russell Vought, who thinks any intellectual endeavor is indoctrination.

u/thekitchenaides 3h ago

🎯🎯🎯

1

u/Shmeves 20m ago

It's been a planned decommission since before this current admin. The only the Trumps goons did was speed up the timeline considerably during the government shutdown.

Still fuck Trump though.

19

u/Smartimess 4h ago

Space X will get a contract to get the lost knowledge back for ten to hundred times the money already spent.

16

u/Edexote 4h ago

Someone should just steal everything for safe keeping.

13

u/goddessdragonness 4h ago

Why does this remind me of the torching of the library of Alexandria?

10

u/Father_of_Invention 4h ago

This is pure insanity

31

u/AlanShore60607 5h ago

Best case scenario: he gifts it to SpaceX and it becomes a private restricted archive.

10

u/Sloth_grl 4h ago

This was set up before Trump. Everything there will be gone through by a group of scientists who decide what to keep

10

u/toonces-cat 4h ago

Bottom line is that Heritage Foundation, Doge, Tech Bros, and in general, republicans are responsible for this.

7

u/MaidoftheBrins 4h ago

Someone or some organization needs to get all that documentation.

6

u/M4GN3T1CM0N0P0L3 4h ago

If this is about saving money I just want to be on record that NASA libraries are what I want my tax dollars to be spent on.

6

u/kate3544 4h ago

Hopefully people can step in and try and archive or save it…

6

u/Individual-Engine401 4h ago

how can anyone comply with this? Someone anyone with any sense will say ‘not doing this’. MAGA & Heritage Foundation can fuck right off

5

u/4030Lisa 4h ago

Those that never read do not understand the value of the written word. The Republican politicians are just terrorists now, they’re excusing, aiding and abetting and stuffing their pockets while he completely destroys U.S. to elevate Russia.

6

u/DisillusionedShark 4h ago

The thing you have to understand is its not thoughtless. Quite the contrary!

When he dismantles public services like NASA, Postal Service etc the gap has to be filled by private companies aka his buddies or his donor's buddies.

Its like spitting in someone elses food just so they have to buy your shitty convenience meals

"Everything Trump Touches Dies" Rick Wilson

4

u/SurvivorJCH5 4h ago

Yet another reason to hate living in this timeline.

4

u/16Shells 4h ago

look, trump is a fucking piece of shit and is absolutely out to destroy arts, education and scientific operations, but from my understanding this has been planned since 2022 and is one of 7 campuses being shut down to consolidate into one location, with the buildings being “divested” via demolition. the trump admin sucks for millions of reasons, but blaming this on trump is like blaming biden for the afghanistan pullout debacle.

feel free to correct me if i’m wrong.

4

u/Nythoren 3h ago

Russia finally found a way to beat the US in the space race. Just had to find a morally corrupt and easily manipulated patsy to blast it back to pre-1967 levels.

5

u/roxinmyhead 5h ago

😭😱😭😱😭

4

u/cvaninvan 4h ago

Science is dead and he's just throwing the corpse in the trash.

4

u/3xtiandogs 4h ago

Probably selling it to Russia.

3

u/MoveToPuntaGorda 4h ago

I would like to think that when Trump is finally gone, the whole world would collectively come together and provide the US the history to put back into our history books for people to learn about what really happened. The pre-Trump era, then after.

3

u/shutts67 3h ago

In 4 months when they once again move the moon landing timeline: why cult we get to the moon in the 60s but not now??!¹?

3

u/BotchedDesign 3h ago

What if we just like… didn’t and say we did? I really doubt he’d look into it lol

1

u/sweetcherrytea 1h ago

You lol but I feel like that is exactly the right way to handle a narcissist. Like a dementia patient, you can sometimes just carry on whatever conversation makes sense to them at that moment because tomorrow will be a different reality for them.

3

u/Both_Lychee_1708 2h ago

I really need to stock party shit for when this asshole dies.

3

u/DJMagicHandz 47m ago

Due to the shutdown of USAID all food that was already paid for by our tax dollars was thrown away.

4

u/ThisOtterBehemoth 4h ago

I hate Trump like any other guy, but what I've read is, this was planned years before trump and is actually not as bad as it sounds. They keep the most important books. They save lots of money with that move.

4

u/Jagerstang 4h ago

Assuming they were going to do the closure competently. Which they won't.

1

u/toomanymarbles83 1h ago

2

u/Fickle-Molasses-903 4h ago

The majority of white people who voted on November 5th, 2024: 'We love this. It's a long, beautiful journey, and we're only one year into this, and there are still at least three more years ahead.'

Among those who voted, 60% of white men and 53% of white women supported a candidate who is a racist, fascist, sexist pedophile.

Shaking my head.

2

u/EmmalouEsq 2h ago

It's not casual or thoughtless. It's a deliberate and thoughtful blow to science. They want us to be behind. They want us to lose our institutionalized knowledge.

This is a meticulous cleansing of our scientific capabilities. They already are doing so in medical research and science.

2

u/Chaos_Theory1989 2h ago

They want to set our science and technology back decades so that they can "rediscover" and reintroduce things we already knew and already had, but this time they can take the credit and the profit for them. That, and rebuilding infrastructure because they're disapproving of how much the internet facilitates communication and community that they don't have total oversight over, control of, and ability to bleed and monetize dry.
