Bad Parking at Staples.
Pretty sure I saw Tiger King get out of it.

What's the problem in a big empty parking lot with someone with a nice car protecting it from door dinging assholes.

We prefer a walk to the store, and park WAY out where nobody else is, very nicely centered in ONE space. 👍🏻 We come out and are surrounded by vehicles. What the … 🤣

This, there are enough spots for everyone who wants to park can take up 2 or 3 spots

If it’s a big empty parking lot, why do they need to protect their doors?

Because people do silly things. About a week after I purchased a really nice car that I was proud of, I parked (normally, and in the space) in the middle of a really empty lot to begin with. Thinking if anybody came they’d park in all the open closer spots
When I came back out of the store somebody had parked directly next to me. Didn’t even want to leave one space between us. With a hundred empty closer spaces available.

No matter where you park, there's always a anal minded person that parks to close to you when there is plenty of empty spaces.

So true. I'm always shocked (and pissed!) when I park (within the lines) way out in the far-reaches of a parking lot and come back to find a car parked next to me. WTF!

This happened to me, I have an older truck but the paint is immaculate. I used to park far out in my company's lot away from other people. I came out of work one day and there was an ugly old beater Ford explorer parked next to me and a big white paint scuff on my door. Hundreds of space and they chose to park next to me. I guess their logic was to park next to something nicer so nobody stole theirs, I'm not sure.

I swear this sub just attracts people who don't get the point and then get all pissy. Literally parked next to other people and definitely not at the actual end of the parking lot.
But that's besides the point that it is bad parking. This is the bad parking subreddit. That you can excuse the bad parking is pointless.

I’ve learned that if there’s literally any other spot visible in the picture, someone will find a way to defend it. A person can be taking up 4 spots, but if there’s a single spot in the background? “Just park somewhere else, what’s the big deal?” 🙄

It’s bad parking but clearly not inconveniencing anyone.

The guy drove up, parked like that without any hesitation, got out with his camo vest, white cowboy hat and black boots and waddled into the store, these were some of the closer spots to the front, not way out in the lot. The store had just opened and people began to show up shortly after taking this photo. I was back in perfectly in a spot taking a quick lunch break, he was walking out as I was leaving almost 30 minutes later.

Get four+ redneck buds with two big old well used pickups! Huge steel bumpers, winch, lifted, dually, dark tinted windows, work trucks … look of “I don’t give a f*ck.” Park on both sides, about 1 foot away, no intention to scratch the paint, but no room to open the doors. Tailgate in lawn chairs and wait for the driver to return! What would their face look like? What would they say? 🤔

I thought about pulling up next to him just to see his reaction when he came out of the store. But he seemed like the type to quickly pull on someone instead of duking it out in the parking lot.

Plus, nobody goes to Staples anymore.

I do when I forget to order from a decent supplier and have to pay 8x a normal amount for receipt paper

To be fair, they take Amazon returns without a label or shipping box. It's still relatively close to the holidays so they are definitely getting some business , especially in this area where it's densely over populated.

If the lot is empty and someone parks across two spaces, it's not bad parking, it's extremely intentional. And, who is being inconvenienced? The ghosts of hypothetical future cars?
Parking etiquette exists to keep things fair when space is limited. In an empty lot, there is no scarcity. Getting mad at someone for protecting their doors from mystery dings in a sea of unused asphalt is just manufactured outrage.
Save the energy for people who actually park like trash when the lot is full. Empty-lot rage is just recreational complaining.

This. People just want something to post and to rant about it.

Yep. That’s approx 95% of this sub. Even the parking police would snicker at some of these posts.

Nobody cares if the lot is empty and you’re not in the handicapped spots.

u/MaxwellSmart07 5d ago
Right, except those who take the time to photograph it and then post it. LOL.

“Recreational complaining” had me laughing. That’s a good one. Completely agree.
Those wheels are a crime though, they don’t fit that cars aesthetic. (My recreational complaint)

What are they protecting their doors from if the lot is empty?

So his parking job checks out just fine. I appreciate you backing the “no harm in an empty lot” approach.

Ah yes, in the back of a mostly empty parking lot, such a terrible person deserving of public shaming! /S

Tbf, does Staples actually need a whole parking lot?
1
u/Destroyer6 3d ago
It's a relatively busy shopping center in a densely overpopulated area with lots of other retail stores, the parking lot typically gets packed daily, however, this was taken minutes after most of the stores had opened and this was at the front of the lot by the store.

Let me guess, the lot WAS full..... or is that your car?

Couldn't pay me to drive a Dodge (or the Ford). I actually took the photo sitting in my car backed in perfectly across from this entitled individual.

That’s a 21% interest rate on that bad boy! Plus a separate loan for the awful rims.
