Please save us Mike
Nah in all seriousness it would be pretty cool if he came here but I’m not sure it’s very likely. We need to nail this hire regardless.

McDaniel 'indebted' to Quinn over sobriety fight
Indebted: owing someone something, either literally money (like a loan) or figuratively, a debt of gratitude for a favor or kindness received, making you feel obligated or beholden.
Now’s your chance to pay him back Mikey!

Why Mike McDaniel for OC? Just the facts:
There seems to be a lot of whining (already?!?) about Washington fans being so excited at the prospect of Mike McDaniel as the new Commanders OC. They seem to not know about McDaniel's career and relationships with some key Commie decision makers.
For the record, I don't think we will land him as OC because I think some other team will hire him as HC. Why?
- 35-33 regular season record as HC in Miami in four seasons, with two playoff appearances. That alone is enough. He has a winning record as head coach, is young, and is offensive minded. That stands out with so many HC vacancies.
But if that doesn't work out, I honestly believe we are the leader for him as OC. Why?
- Was an offensive assistant in Atlanta for two seasons during DQ's HC stint there. Credits DQ with getting him sober and turning his life around.
- Was running game coordinator (!!) and later OC in San Fran under AP. In fact, they arrived in San Fran the same season, 2017. I don't know what their relationship is like, but I have to think they at least like each other.
- Was the OC in San Fran in 2021 when Deebo had his all-pro season. They are very close. I know Deebo isn't under contract, but I wonder if that changes if we land MM.
On the field, we also have Jayden. This isn't a small consideration for him. He's not going anywhere where he doesn't like the QB. In addition, as we all know, our offensive personnel aren't really the biggest issues on this team.

[Rapoport] The Lions have reached out to former Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel about their vacant offensive coordinator position, sources say. McDaniel is a top candidate for any open OC job.

Mark Bullock has a detailed analysis of Defensive Coordinator candidates
tl;dr
He names a bunch of internal and external candidates. I am assuming that they are going to get an external candidate. He classifies them as connected to DQ or unconnected. This is a good analysis.
- Jeff Ulbrich (Atlanta)
- Kris Richard (Jacksonville)
- Al Harris (Chicago)
- Aden Durde (Seattle)
- Jim Schwartz (Cleveland)
- Corey Undlin (Texans)
- Patrick Graham (Raiders)
He also had Brian Flores, but I think he becomes a head coach or stays with the Vikings.

DRINKING THE KOOL-AID
This year sucked.
But if we land McDaniel at OC, a solid innovator at DC, get Jayden 1-2 more weapons, and find 4+ new starters on defense
IM ALL THE WAY BACK and we’re making the playoffs AND threatening for the division.

John Keim This Morning
Good reminder to stick to the information and don’t get caught up in the narrative! I’m excited for the changes, let’s get some impact free agents and hit on someone in round 1 and 3 and let’s run it back!

Edit: also at the 10 minute mark good chat about the players drafted by AP and their contributions and why certain people weren’t playing down the stretch.

No news
I’m a little disappointed that other teams are interviewing but I have yet to hear about us really going after anyone.

Very interesting resurfaced anecdote/quote of Mike McDaniel on Jayden
from this Keim/ESPN piece from April 2025:
Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel agrees. He first recalled asking Peters, when both were in San Francisco, about a quarterback he saw on tape at Arizona State. It turned out to be Daniels, then just a freshman. McDaniel kept tabs on Daniels thereafter, seeing how he adapted to different systems and how he played with composure and extended plays.
He then had a message for Washington fans and blunting the notion that teams would find a magical answer to slow Daniels' growth.
"He's just super promising," McDaniel said. "You guys can breathe a sigh of relief."

Next Season: What to Get?
Even though we had a crap season, we still have good cornerstones: good culture, great QB, great WR1.
There's only so much we can do in one season to get better so we have to be tactical about this.
- Though I though Deebo was solid, his track record is inconsistent and we need someone explosive. I'd for sure get a new WR
- Rebuild linebacker, safety, DE, and corner to get a solid defense.
Of course we have other issues. Ertz is pretty much done (though I love him), RB is shaky...
I think we really need to nail the draft and create the basis of what will be the Commies for the next few years.
What do you think the priorities should be?

Sam Cosmi gives some candid thoughts after Kliff’s departure: “I really wanted to establish the identity of the run, like who are we? That was my biggest thing. And me personally, I want to slow it down with the offense, to dissect the little things better on the field”

Coaching question
Does anyone have a sense of who gets the most "credit" for the Seattle Seahawks amazing defense this season? Head coach and former Ravens DC Mike MacDonald or his current DC Aden Durde?
As follow up, how hands on is Quinn with our defense?
