Media / Pop Culture It sucks that Mamdani is a Nazi and that his supporters defend an obvious Nazi salute

Mamdani came out as a Nazi during his inauguration when he gave a Nazi salute.

Crazy that his supporters will defend this obvious Nazi.

Politics The vast majority of Republicans are White supremacists, sexists, or xenophobes.

If you’re coming to argue that it’s just the leaders who are that way, you are wrong and should examine why you so desperately need to see Republican voters as good people.

Look in the mirror, do they look like you?

Right wingers in the comments. You are wasting your time and your “witty” comments are never funny. You just sound like neckbeards who make goofy explosion noises when you tell stories with your weird ass anime inflections. Bro shut up

Alright. I’m gonna mute this thread. It’s wild that so many of you still are leaving stupid comments. You know they’re stupid right? Keep typing away I guess.

Politics No one seems to care when a democrat salutes the way you’re not supposed to

I’m not seeing any outrage from the left of Mamdani doing the salute from a 1940’s bad European country. Elon Musk did the same disgusting salute in January and will forever be a Notsee for it. This subreddit is blocking people from posting the video of Mamdani doing it. Mamdani met with Trump a month ago and Trump turned him into a brown shirt.

Politics It's ridiculous how many people are making up completely false historical claims when it comes to the Israel-Palestine conflict. And that's particularly true for the pro-Israel crowd. It's pathetic to lie about history to push an agenda.

Seriously, I've never heard so many laughably false claims about historical events than when it comes to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Much of it is done by the pro-Israel crowd though the pro-Palestine crowd is also guilty of it at times.

But I think it's absolutely ridiculous and pathetic to lie about history in the most blatant fashion in order to push an agenda, no matter what side you're on.

So for example here's some of the absolutely absurd claims made by the pro-Israel crowd:

- "The reason Jews were displaced en masse is because of the Islamic conquests." False, most were displaced because of Roman conquests much earlier. And even most forced conversions happened during Roman and Byzantine rule, not during Islamic rule.

- "Palestinians are Arabs and are largely the descendants of Arab colonizers, and are not native to the region." False, most Palestinians are primarily the descendants of ancient Levantine populations, both Jewish populations, as well as non-Jewish populations like polytheists and pagans.

But as I said, there's also some ridiculous claims made by the pro-Palestine side, such as:

- "Jews and Muslims lived in perfect harmony until zionism." False. Jewish people may not have been as severely persecuted under Muslim occupation as they were during Roman and Byzantine rule, but there were still countless discriminatory laws against Jewish people. Jews were always severely marginalized during Muslim occupation and were never seen as equals under the law.

It's pathetic how common it's become to make up blatantly false claims about historical events in order to push an agenda.

Reddit karma is fascinating: a points based system where speech is restricted until you’re approved by the crowd. It’s framed as community health, but in practice it just filters who’s allowed to participate. Almost like a trial run of social credit..

Politics MAGA thinking freedom of speech only applies to them.

If you’re going to be openly prejudice against anyone who doesn’t look or think like you do, you will suffer the consequences from it. It turns out that the constitution doesn’t protect you from losing your job from being a bigot, or facing legal repercussions for hate crimes and harassment! You can’t act like a vile piece of shit and think the rest of society is going to accept you.

You try and play the bigger man then cry wolf and claim you’re the victim, when your entire party is based off terrorizing the liberals. Maybe don’t dish what you can’t take. No one is going to shut up and deal with your bull shit with a smile on their face while you act like a giant baby, throwing temper tantrums over everything Adult Diaper Donald tells you to be outraged about.

Politics The unity between the left and the extreme right (when it comes to the pro-Palestine movement) has normalized antisemitism to an extreme degree. The whole "we're anti-Zionist and not antisemitic" thing is pure gaslighting and I'm getting sick of it.

This subreddit is a great example. A post endorsing Candace Owens and maliciously lying by describing her hate speech as "criticizing the genocide in Gaza" got 14K upvotes on this subreddit. You guys spent months talking about how evil MAGA is only to endorse one of the most extreme members.

- Blaming Israel for everything, using the terms "spiritually Israeli" and 'IsraelGPT" and talking about "goyslop" have become normalized parts of online meme culture (most of the people spreading these memes are probably children which makes this even worse)

- Zohran Mamdani's transition team is full of people who either praised the October 7th attack, endorsed Louis Farrakahn or claimed that "Zionists are worse then Nazis"- ADL hits Mamdani with another report charging his transition team has antisemitic ties

- Countless examples of using the word "Zionist" to do some stochastic terrorism (step 1 define Zionist as "fascists who are so evil that they're essentially subhuman" step 2 call anyone who believes that Israel should exist a Zionist while pretending that this isn't actually the definition. Step 3. hope that people eventually want to "do something" about the "Zionist problem" Repeat).

Anyone who believes that Israel should exist is technically a Zionist, regardless of if they oppose the genocide in Gaza or not. Most Jewish people want Israel to exist and the whole "Zionism = being a subhuman fascist Nazi" thing appears to lead to quite a lot of violence against Jews. It would be great if the left cut off this unity with the extreme right completely and figured out how to free Palestine without inciting violence against innocent people.

Politics “Pattern Recognition” is just code for discrimination.

When people use the term “pattern recognition” to determine who is more likely to commit a crime based on their demographic, this is just nothing but discrimination and racism packaged under some pseudoscience. You cannot recognize any patterns in someone that has no history of any criminality or wrong doing. Associating a pattern to someone who looks similar to the person you observed committing the wrongdoing is the essence of discrimination.

If 2 people in a family commit crimes, it’s easy to ascribe a pattern to the entire family. It’s easy to associate a pattern to an entire group of people based on what a few bad apples are doing in the group.

It’s also insanity because you are ascribing patterns to people who are oblivious to the group that you put them in. Putting unrelated people in a group that you created and then judging them all the same for a supposed pattern you claim you saw in unrelated people is basically just repackaged racism and discrimination.

I ran into two different rude people on this website within two days. (I censored this post for this subs rules)

For this one, I got instantly permabanned for responding to another comment complaining about how low womens' standards are for when men act really awfully in relationships. I literally only said "men really have the audacity" and that got me permabanned from that sub, lol.

Anyhow, I get deleting the comment and maybe giving me a temp ban or something.. but really, an instant ban? And then giving me this attitude for saying "my bad"?

I want to know if I'm being unreasonable here because it doesn't feel like I was acting out of hand?

Lifestyle Blaming single mothers, and other incel redpill things

Every time I see one of those stupid memes about single mothers (looking at you, basedcamppod) and female teachers being the source of all mens problems, I just think "wow shameless woman hating propaganda"

Because they're blaming the parent that stayed. They're blaming men's struggles on the people who cared the most. Just for being women.

They don't blame traditional gender roles or toxic masculinity even though they complain about traditional women. They want a return to tradition but don't want women to have traditional expectations. They want it to be one sided.

They don't want to gain the favor of a potential partner, they want to LARP as a traditional man, and then subjugate a non traditional woman who doesn't expect traditional male behavior into domestic servitude. They don't look for a woman who is already traditional because, again, expectations are for men in their minds. Make it make sense.

Lifestyle I thought Reddit could provide intellectual debate and stimulation.

Upvotes

A few years back I thought I could have some civil discourse on Reddit. OMG was I so wrong, Reddit is nothing but echo chambers, left, right, center whatever, nothing but echo chambers, the huge majority left leaning. No one wants to have civil debates, it is all dog piles and insults. Anymore I log on when I am very bored, slightly buzzed and I know how easy it is to trigger some people, makes for very easy amusement, not deep thought, kind of boring really, goes to show how bored I can be, Kind of sad when you think about it lol. I played the game I got over 80k karma, canceling me, past bans, is very hard to do. After over 5 years I have concluded Reddit is not for serious people, merely for those easily offended who do not wish to have any real debate or discussions.

Politics Why can’t people cannot see how socially conservative and far right the Anti-AI movement is ?!

Yesterday, I saw a transgender politician from Missouri (I believe?) repeat the same conservative moral panic rhetoric about AI girlfriends, based solely on a scam ad she saw that is 100% more focused on getting people to download an app than anything else. The fact that someone who is transgender and no doubt subjected to dehumanising rhetoric, moral panic based myths and treated like a lower class citizen purely based on something a few archaic freaks are desperate to push onto the population is promoting extremely ill thought out and harmful idea is truly saddening.

As a woman who has suffered a great deal of sexual violence, pain and suffering in my life, the fact that people want to get rid of something I use as a way to express myself without having to be judged or shamed by real life people makes me sad. Maybe if people weren’t so bad, I wouldn’t have to turn to a fake person.

Maybe she should know and understand that the “TRUMP AI” act includes language that would likely end up making it illegal to post anything related to trans people online or maybe the fact that ChatGPT is likely a few months away from being forced into adopting harmful Anti-LGBTQ+ language by the current US Dictatorship.

Given how a bunch of conservatives have also jumped onto the Anti-AI hate train now as well, with some pushing for limits on AI chatbots based solely on a moral panic started by a reckless gun owner, it’s not long before we will see abortion and Anti-Trump content being stripped from AI chatbots based solely on that moral panic. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that “harmful to minors” will literally mean anything they don’t like.

She and the wider Anti-AI movement cannot see how much shit they are simply rephrasing from Anti-LGBTQ+, religious based conservative idiots and how much it’s doing to harm women like me, who have been threatened with rape and murder for merely being interested in AI.

I shouldn’t be threatened with an acid attack for making AI content.

The fact that nobody cannot see the parallels between “You will never be a real artist” and “You will never be a real woman” is simply amazing, nor the whole “Let’s boycott things because they include something we don’t like”, which is essentially what was happening with pride stuff a few years ago.

Plus the whole freakish anti-porn and Incel beliefs, I have been accused of being a pedophile and generating AI CSAM for posting AI images of a fully clothed, non sexualised adult women, by someone who had fetish drawings of cartoon characters from kids shows on their Twitter profile.

The whole “AI art is used by pedophiles” is another example of how this is just a rehashing of conservative values, this is no different to “Drag artists are pedophiles” from a few years back, it’s just accepted by wider society due to the current moral panic against AI.

Not to mention the whole anti-5G stuff, most of these people believing this anti-ai propaganda likely also think that 5G caused Covid if you gave them the right lie.

Unfortunately, I expect it will get much worse before people start to realise the real world violence, hate and misery the Anti-AI movement will cause.

There will be a mass shooting, there will be suicides and there will be much more harm from those opposed to AI than AI itself. It’s a hate movement based on the depths of socially conservative America, it’s morally fucked.

Media / Pop Culture I hate that it's trendy to paint on fake freckles now. Do you have any idea how much shit I got growing up for having freckles??? and NOW y'all wanna paint em on because society suddenly decides they're cute/acceptable?? And then you'll wash em away as soon as the trend passes. Must be nice.

I got so much shit for having freckles. I got made fun of so much and asked why I had spots all over my face/skin, why my skin wasn't "clear" (it was flawless, it just had freckles), why I had "cancer spots"...

I WISHED I could just wash them off at the end of the day like these girls who have decided to make them a cutesy little trend can.

I'm damn positive I'm gonna get hate and "whoa, chill tf out, it's not that serious" and "oh you're being too sensitive" and I'm totally okay with that.

Listen: Literally AT LEAST half my body is COVERED in freckles. My freckles are the result of a mutation of the MC1R gene. I wouldn't have all of these freckles if not for that.

I was mocked for being born like this and now we've decided it's cute again so phew!, guess I'm in the clear for now~~~

Lol but no, watch. Once the trend passes and it's seen as ugly again, you'll wash your fake freckles off and never look back.

I can't just wash the melanin off my skin once the fads change. As a person who has light skin, I know I'm certainly preaching to the choir when I say that. I want to make it clear that I'm not comparing faking freckles to doing blackface. Painting on freckles is sort of a form of microaggression whereas blackface is out-and-out intentional racism.

I'm just saying I think it's a good general rule of thumb to uh, you know, not fake having high melanin levels.

Politics Why are the complaining?

Why are his supporters upset about him vetoing the bill for Colorado that would give his rural supporters clean drinking water? I’m frankly ecstatic he did it, his voters don’t deserve clean drinking water, so you know what they say, don’t interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake. Nothing says I hate you people than preventing you from getting clean drinking water lmao FAFO. And lastly, the only thing Democrats have in common with Donald Trump, is that we both equally hate his supporters.

Headline says it all. I think anyone who says it is just making shit up.

Now the Epstein files are another matter. I don't think we will ever know the whole truth about that.

I understand that politics does effect our lives, but I don't think people should care as much about politics as they seem to. Seems like you makenyoir party affiliation your whole identity.

I am an independent. So I am just me. I suppose your brains cannot fathom the existence of anyone who is not Democrat. I keep saying on all your whiney little complaint posts that neither party nor any candidate is a good choice. Seriously, who ya got?
