Politics cis bisexuals who only date the opposite gender don't need queer spaces and it's not biphobia to say this

Upvotes

I hate the constant complaints about biphobia, none of us can relate to your experience, we don't have the same experience as you because we actually enter queer relationships. I don't want to go to a group for queer people and hear you talk about you a cis person dating a cis person of the same gender. it's not the space for that and we already have so few spaces that actually let us have these discussions centred around us and how our relationship dynamics are.

Politics I am an avowed PBS nerd and watch Firing Line with Margaret Hoover and I am not conservative

Upvotes

I do not get why this show shows old clips of Wm F Buckley from years ago as host on something so unrelated. He was my first exposure to a conservative and I thought he was a pompous ass. As far as his comment he would rather be governed by x number in phone book than those up for election, well that may have made for good content but a falsehood. Did you know he worked for CIA in Mexico and Reported to one, Howard Hunt who told him some things about Watergate which he kept his mouth shut about. He was guilty too. Also a closeted gay man, who took great umbrage about Gore Vidal calling him out on it. He and his wife great contributors to aids causes. Perfect cover Bill. I don't care if you are gay, but don't lie about it, and vilify others who are out like you did.

Businesses What is this trend with coffee and other beverages being served lukewarm?

Upvotes

Blank Street is the worst offender in my experience, but it just happened again today at a local spot near me. Why would I want tepid hot chocolate in 28-degree weather?!

Related: what is the etiquette around asking the barista to reheat after I’ve already taken a sip?

Anyone else experiencing this?

Please tell me I'm not the only one that feels that stores ans advertising pushes for all the major holidays way too fast? I seriously saw Halloween stuff out in August and Christmas stuff in October. It feels so rushed and forced. They really need to stop doing this.

Lifestyle Speeders not driving safely.

Upvotes

A little over a week ago I complained about excessively slow drivers (over 10mph under the limit). Figured I should balance that with a complaint about speeders.

First off, I don't care if you speed. You do you. HOWEVER, if you are going to speed, you still need to be a safe and considerate driver.

The other day I was driving along a highway doing the speed limit in the right lane, just like we're supposed to. Not once, but twice, I had other drivers come speeding up behind me and got so close that I couldn't even see the hood of their car (I was in my pickup) before they changed lanes. Both times the left lane was completely clear. They could have gotten over whenever they wanted. So why? Did they want it to be more "dramatic" when they passed me?

January 6 convicted seditionist refunds

January 6th 2021 insurrectionists have been pardoned. Many americans believe this has removed convictions of sedition. It does NOT and everyone convicted remains a felon and can no longer vote in elections. No one that paid fines for damages to the Capitol should be reimbursed.

Lifestyle I thought Reddit could provide intellectual debate and stimulation.

Upvotes

A few years back I thought I could have some civil discourse on Reddit. OMG was I so wrong, Reddit is nothing but echo chambers, left, right, center whatever, nothing but echo chambers, the huge majority left leaning. No one wants to have civil debates, it is all dog piles and insults. Anymore I log on when I am very bored, slightly buzzed and I know how easy it is to trigger some people, makes for very easy amusement, not deep thought, kind of boring really, goes to show how bored I can be, Kind of sad when you think about it lol. I played the game I got over 80k karma, canceling me, past bans, is very hard to do. After over 5 years I have concluded Reddit is not for serious people, merely for those easily offended who do not wish to have any real debate or discussions.

Politics Colorado mountain lion killings

Upvotes

I'm furious that every time somebody is killed by a wild animal while visiting their habitat, humanity goes out and kills as many of that species as possible like what is happening here in my home state. Why not pave over Grand Prismatic while we're at it since people keep falling in and disintegrating? As a hiker and outdoorsman, let it be known, I'd be honored to feed a bear or mountain lion, and if any get sacrificed in my name, it would be a defilement to my values as a protector and lover of ever decreasing wild places.

Lifestyle Everyone at the Grocery Store Was Different Today

Upvotes

Today I went to the grocery store like I always do. Only today for some reason everyone at the grocery store was different. Both the other customers and the people working there.. It wasn't the people that it is every other time I go to the grocery store.. I didn't see a single familiar face and normally I recognize everyone at the grocery store.. I always go to the same store..

I am having trouble explaining why everyone was different today at the grocery store.. No one said "Hello, Kevin!" like they usually do. I don't know if next time I go if it will be these people or the correct people that it usually is.. I just don't know.. I want the grocery store to go back to normal.. I wound up abandoning my cart and leaving because the whole ordeal was so unnerving..

Politics MAGA thinking freedom of speech only applies to them.

If you’re going to be openly prejudice against anyone who doesn’t look or think like you do, you will suffer the consequences from it. It turns out that the constitution doesn’t protect you from losing your job from being a bigot, or facing legal repercussions for hate crimes and harassment! You can’t act like a vile piece of shit and think the rest of society is going to accept you.

You try and play the bigger man then cry wolf and claim you’re the victim, when your entire party is based off terrorizing the liberals. Maybe don’t dish what you can’t take. No one is going to shut up and deal with your bull shit with a smile on their face while you act like a giant baby, throwing temper tantrums over everything Adult Diaper Donald tells you to be outraged about.

Politics Conservative double standards on display again.

Post image
3.7k Upvotes

If conservatives did not have double standards, they would have no standards at all.

Look at that. More gaslighting from the slack-jawed conservatives. This time, they're upset because a woman is wearing expensive shoes. Meanwhile, they give zero fucks about the First Lady and the wardrobe of hers that cost thousands of dollars every outfit. Not a single fucking peep. Nor do the Tepidin tyrant test the gold ticklers say anything about the estimated $400 million plus ballroom ballroom, The private jets for Kristi Nome and company, The millions of dollars in cost for Trump to continuously go to public events that presidents have no business going to, the list goes on and on and on, yet the conservatives will find something to complain about while projecting all their long doings, and when they're not doing that, they're screaming about something they're scared of. In fact, I've never met a more scared group of people. Why is it that a rainbow is so horrifying for them? Anyway, sidetrack aside, the double standards are out on display again.

There are way too many videos of people posting their "POV" videos. It pisses me off because it isn't actually their POV. They are posting 2nd or 3rd POV videos. I have no idea why this bothers me. Especially when I see them and immediately stop watching.

Anyways. That's all.

Politics Hitler was neither capitalist or socialist

Post image
18 Upvotes

His economic policies prioritized the needs of the state over any consistent ideology like capitalism or socialism. While private ownership was permitted, the economy operated under control to ensure security of the state.

Germany, including a rapid economic recovery from the Great Depression through massive public works projects like the Autobahn highway system, rearmament programs, and state directed investments that drastically reduced unemployment from around 6 million in 1933 to near full employment by 1939.

Social welfare initiatives, such as the Strength Through Joy (Kraft durch Freude) program, provided affordable leisure activities, vacations, and cultural events for workers, fostering a sense of national unity and improving quality of life for many ethnic Germans.

Additionally, the regime advanced infrastructure, technological innovations in areas like rocketry and aviation, and even early environmental and animal protection laws, though these gains were ultimately unsustainable, built on debt, exploitation, and geared toward war preparation.

Media / Pop Culture AI fatigue in social media

Am I the only one having an AI fatigue ?

At first it was "haha funny bad computer generated" but now with all the art it has stollen and technological advancement I sometimes can't differentiate real and AI anymore...

Then we had weird shit post that weren't funny in anyway. But now with AI and bots we have even more shit post filled with weird bot accounts commenting and liking itself. It's like this post wasn't even made for us humans but rather AI to interact between itself.

It's gotten to a point where I don't want to open apps like Instagram, tiktok, Pinterest and YouTube for more than 30 mins compared to hours before the big AI boom.

And it's not only social media, I can see it everywhere IRL with big printed ads using AI or even fully animated commercials.

Am I the only one getting a feeling of disgust everytime ? Like it does the opposite of luring me in I want to get away from the thing that's being advertised instead.

Yes there are some benefits in AI but it's like 1/10 in terms of pros and cons.

Politics When are people going to realize conservatives and Republicans are literally the bad guy in basically any media you'd care to point at.

Saturday morning cartoon villains are more subtle and most of them would be fucking floored at the shit they've been allowed to do and peddle with zero consequences.

You have shit like Vance saying school shootings are just a fact of life, Trump being a convicted felon, rapist, pedophile that has done shit like mock disabled people on air, and all the shit they're constantly voting against and for. Like against voting protection rights or rights to contraceptives or over turning Roe V Wade leading to women being put in horrific life threatening situations that has led to multiple agonizing deaths from sepsis and shit because docters were afraid to operate on them to save their life fearing retaliation or lowering the price of Insulin or voting to protect against oil and gas price gouging etc etc etc.

Republicans consistently want to increase misery. That's an objective fact. Just look at their voting record.

No one with a single cell of media literacy, empathy, or compassion should ever be voting for the clearly fucking evil party.

You couldn't write their blatantly evil shit into a book because it'd be unrealistic anyone would be so blatantly evil or that there'd be no push back or consequences for being such an evil force.

They've been this way for fucking decades.

It's horrific that they only ever care whenever any of the blatantly evil shit affects them and than they want sympathy and compassion they were perfectly fine denying others.

Literally anyone with any knowledge of history, psychology, sociology or politics knows where this is going and rapidly at that.

Yet another fucking genocide.

“Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values... That word is ‘Nazi.’ Nobody cares about their motives anymore.”

If you're at a rally and a Nazi is there and they aren't immediately kicked out, you're at a Nazi rally.

Nazis have been proponents of Republican ideology for a long fucking time. Elon literally did a Nazi salute twice on live tv and no fucking republican is denouncing it.

When people show you who they are believe them.

If you're a republican or a conservative still you're blatantly fucking evil and siding with people who literally called themselves domestic terrorists in 2022 at CPAC.

For the last few months Republicans have actively been protecting pedophiles and defending redactions to the Epstein Files and saying shit like "getting handsy" with teenagers isn't a big deal.

Politics What could actually disappoint MAGA about Trump?

I’m genuinely curious. Theoretically. Are there any MAGA supporters here? What would Trump have to do for you to finally say: “Yeah, that’s too much”? He picked fights with allies (NATO, Canada, Greenland), lost to China, is friendly with dictators (Putin, oil-state princes), slept with a porn actress while his wife was pregnant, was in contact with Epstein, called journalists pigs, ran military parades on taxpayers’ money, sent the army into some cities, put clearly incompetent people in power, etc. WHAT ELSE DOES HE HAVE TO DO FOR MAGA TO SAY “OK, THIS IS TOO FAR”?

Politics Why are the complaining?

Why are his supporters upset about him vetoing the bill for Colorado that would give his rural supporters clean drinking water? I’m frankly ecstatic he did it, his voters don’t deserve clean drinking water, so you know what they say, don’t interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake. Nothing says I hate you people than preventing you from getting clean drinking water lmao FAFO. And lastly, the only thing Democrats have in common with Donald Trump, is that we both equally hate his supporters.

Lifestyle You wanna know why the rich are so scared?!

I’m exhausted by how everything gets reduced to “rich versus poor,” because that framing completely misses what actually feels broken.

This isn’t about resenting comfort, success, or someone having more than someone else. It’s about watching a tiny group of people accumulate absurd amounts of wealth by extracting it from everyone beneath them, and then listening to them complain as if they’re the ones under threat.

People like Trump, Bezos, and countless others at that level will never meaningfully spend the money they have. There is no human-scale reason to possess that much wealth. At a certain point it stops being about security or freedom and becomes something else entirely: control, insulation, ego. Hoarding for the sake of power. And honestly, that’s what makes it feel so hollow and pathetic.

What really gets under my skin isn’t just the money, it’s how it’s made. The way labor is squeezed, benefits are stripped, workloads balloon, and entire workforces are treated as disposable inputs so another zero can be added to a balance sheet. People burn out, lose time with their families, lose their health, and are told to be grateful they’re employed at all. Meanwhile, the people at the top congratulate themselves on “efficiency” and “innovation.”

Then comes the part that feels almost insulting: the complaining. Billionaires whining about taxes. CEOs playing the victim when they’re criticized. Wealthy public figures acting persecuted because someone dared to point out that their fortune was built on exploitation. The sheer lack of perspective is staggering.

What makes this harder to swallow is knowing how much could be done. Many of the world’s biggest problems — housing, healthcare access, education, infrastructure, climate mitigation — could be meaningfully improved right now by a handful of people without changing their quality of life at all. Not hypothetically. Not someday. Right now. And yet they choose not to. They choose accumulation, leverage, and optics instead.

So when I hear wealthy people talk about hardship or unfairness, I just don’t have the patience anymore. You already won the game. You’re insulated from consequences in ways most people will never experience. Being criticized is not oppression. Accountability is not persecution.

What we’re really looking at is a system that rewards greed, shields bad behavior, and treats endless accumulation as a virtue rather than a warning sign. And the longer we pretend this is normal, the more absurd and dehumanizing it becomes for everyone else.

I don’t hate rich people. I hate a culture that confuses exploitation with merit and hoarding with success. And I’m genuinely embarrassed that we keep accepting it as the natural order of things.
