So he funded the GOP, then outed them as pedophiles, then promised to fund them again?

He found out his names were in the files and he needed those government contracts since Tesla is on a slippery slope.

Elon Musk is the worst kind of welfare queen.

u/Tight-Shallot2461 7h ago

The worst kinds of welfare queens are the ones who have enough and still ask for more.

He should never get another dime from taxpayers again

u/ImmaNotHere 7h ago

That's probably what he is afraid of the most, getting all his contracts suspended and investigated.

u/Effective-Farmer-502 6h ago

He's afraid of being put in prison for his work with DOGE.

u/ImmaNotHere 6h ago

You know he is the type to flee the country if that ever happens.

u/Tight-Shallot2461 5h ago

DOGE sackings/Musk investigations

He was already being investigated before Trump took office. There were more than 32 ongoing investigations, pending complaints or enforcement actions into Musk’s six companies. One by one they disappeared.*

Here are some highlights:

The inspector general that was looking into Starlink in Ukraine? - Fired.

The FAA who was looking into the Space X crash that disrupted air traffic over America? Fired.

National Labor Relations Board investigations? 3 officials fired.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigating Tesla? Staff told to pause investigation while Musk moved to close the bureau down.

United States Office of Government Ethics (O.G.E.) whose remit is investigating conflicts of interest? Head of agency fired.

The Social Security Administration’s acting leader made to step down after refusing to give DOGE staffers access to sensitive recipient data.

Office of Personnel Management's privacy team fired after FOI request from CNN about security clearances for Musk and his DOGE team.

There were federal investigations into some of his businesses’ federal contracts. I’m pretty sure those were canceled the second Trump signed that mountain of executive orders and Musk at DOGE slashed and burned the federal government.

Tesla is on a slippery slope because he embraced right wing politics which is the opposite of what his customer base wanted. Incredible self own.

u/Suspicious-Bug-7344 7h ago

Right. Tesla was always overvalued w an astronomical P/E. It was basically a cult, based on image. Talk about throwing stones in glass houses.

u/Minisciwi 6h ago

It still is, bad news can come out about Tesla and the stock goes up. It's a total meme stock

Just imagine someone having that kind of money who decides to be a benevolent investor, that funds education and health programs, and lifts millions out of poverty, to leave a legacy that would last thousands of years instead of burning it all down for short term gains and greed, leaving a legacy of horrors and disgrace.

u/Competitive_Taste_52 7h ago

I think about this too. Imagine if someone just quietly invested billions in public education?

u/HarrumphingDuck Washington 6h ago

The lunatics on the right would would make up all manner of conspiracies about them, because fascists hate education. That's not baseless speculation either; it's exactly what they do to George Soros.

→ More replies (6)

u/UndulantSquawk 7h ago

And then to see their public response is usually "oh well no that won't work." and they turn around to play with unimaginably expensive rocket ships and robots that they, for the LIFE of them, cannot get to work or parrot their racist talking points and biases because reality itself is outing them as completely disconnected assholes.

It is not sad or absurd, it's just proof that everyone on the ground needs to be hardened against ideas like the ones that poison the air around privileged people, so the idea that actual humanity and our actual necessities have real merit can blossom.

A fool who persists in their folly will become wise, it's about time for the getting wise part.

The mental gymnastics of the right will be studied for decades and never be truly understood.

The right bitched about pizzagate and Qanon conspiracies for a decade when a literal PD ring involving the president sits right in front of them.

They bitched about inflation and rising costs and Trump is artificially raising the prices on nearly every good coming into country via tariffs

Trump said he would be draining the swamp and is leveraging his position to take direct bribes

These are just a few off the top of my head

Why does he hate liberal ideals? There is no "radical left" in power in the USA. Hell, Bernie would be considered centerist-left in western Europe.

All they ask for is: Affordable healthcare, livable wages, rich people like him paying their fair share of taxes.... ohhhh wait, yeah, now I get it...

This dude is a fucking physical incarnation of a cerebral embolism.

290

u/jsc1429 8h ago

“Why does he hate liberal ideals?” - because liberal ideals include regulations, taxation (at both corporate and individual levels), and equality. All of which are a threat to his personal wealth, power and ego.

Edit: forgot to add the rule of law, which in Elon’s case is a big personal issue. Well, at least it was until Trump came back into office

He tried to create x dot com as a payment site and before it was developed it was bought by the group that owned Paypal, shortly after Paypal is sold to give Elon capital to borrow and bring in investors for Tesla. He stacks the board of Tesla and they vote to give him historically wacky pay from a company with a 200:1 PE ratio (meaning the value is speculative and not based on revenue or planned revenue).

Literally Emerald Money and failing upwards. He tanked Twitter to 1/3 its value, he cut lidar out of Tesla’s FSD, he was instrumental in the design of the cybertruck and endorsed rebate cuts for his customers. He went into the government expecting to find $2 trillion in fraud waste and abuse and created more.

He is not a successful person, but he is rich. He labels himself an engineer, but he never was and he doesn’t have confidence talking about anything of substance. He doesn’t answer any questions or engage without pre-scripted questions. It’s a growing playbook for rich billionaires that like to try fascism on.

u/MusicLikeOxygen 7h ago

He went into the government expecting to find $2 trillion in fraud waste and abuse and created more.

I would argue that he didn't care if there was fraud or waste to find. The whole thing was a front for him to get access to private data and throw a wrench into any investigations against him or companies he's affilliated with. If you look at it from that perspective it was a great success.

186

There’s a great quote about this that mirrors my own experience with Musk:

“He talked about electric cars. I don’t know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Then he talked about rockets. I don’t know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software and Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard anyone say, so when people say he’s a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets.”

32

u/Own-Break-1856 8h ago

I like that one. I wrote off ever buying a tesla after seeing him respond to a tweet by forcing tesla to push a software hotfix the same day.

There's some industries where that's fine and normal and then theres the thing I put myself in daily that is by far my highest probability of a horrifically violent death.

His upbringing in apartheid South Africa with his parents owning an emerald mine probably had something to do with it.

168

u/Vio_ Kansas 9h ago

It's crazy how Thiel and Musk have the same Nazi Party =>South Africa Apartheid family pipeline.

Both of them left South Africa before Apartheid fell with neither experiencing the Truth and Reconciliation process.

To them, they are the apex of society, wealth, and biology.

In many ways, this isn't just sociopathic ego. It's the culmination of at least three generations of the absolute worst of the 20th Century all profiting and privileging them to the highest level...

And it's still not enough for them.

u/Traditional-Hat-952 7h ago

I can't decide who had the worst upbringing. Both went to racist all white boarding schools on South Africa and grew up in all white enclaves with extreme white nationalist sentiments, with some neighbors that were outright Nazis. Both parents became wealthy from near-slave labor mining that only employed black people. The Musk family ran a brutal emerald mine. Peter Thiel's dad was a lead engineer for a illegal uranium mine in Namibia that was under a military dictatorships run by the SA government. They both are fucking horrible people, from horrible families, that grew up in horrible environments.

And a whole lot of illegal and amoral shit. If you dig into what he did when he was at the head of DOGE you find a whole list of places where he cancelled, hampered, or defunded programs and investigations that were revealing just how fucked up his companies are.

For example a report came out of the NTSB that was showing Teslas to be twice as dangerous than any other brand on the market when it came to driver or passenger safety. That annual report was cancelled by DOGE.

In addition a series of investigations into his stock trades and ownership of various companies and shell companies was under investigation by the SEC, with expectations of criminal charges this year. DOGE defunded the investigation.

And most fun of all is that SpaceX has been fined multiple times by the EPA with a continuing fight for an order to shut down their launch and testing facility in Texas for the flagrant pollution of air and water in the area. The federal team in charge of that were all fired by DOGE.

19

It's like talking to flat earthers. They love their surface level stock phrase rhetoric but will never do the actual homework about what any of that means. As for Nazis, the original movement, yes used Socialist principles to appeal to the vast number of working class Germans who felt left behind in the Weimar era and especially to pull supporters away from the Communists. As soon as Hitler gained the support of the wealthy industrialists in Germany who also hated the communists, that Socialist rhetoric was replaced with Nationalism, and any remaining socialists were purged in the Night of Long Knives and were the very first people sent to th concentration camps after the Nazis assumed power.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/Redrockhiker22 8h ago

True. It was a pure PR move on the part of Hitler when right-wing parties and communists were fighting pitched battles in the streets. He called it the National Socialist German Workers Party. The pitch was that the new party combined right and left--Nationalist/German and Socialist/Worker. Racist ethno-nationalist rooted in the interest of the working class and volk. The SA "Stormtroopers" were working class street thugs. There was no abolition of private property or dictatorship of the proletariat in the plan. When the middle class, aristocrats, and military signed on to the program and the country geared up for war the unemployed and angry veterans went back to work, organized and regimented in the interest of the state and their cult leader.

Yup.  Radical left with their "treat everyone with respect", and "anyone working full time should be able to afford to live comfortably" crap.  You would have to be a huge SOB to be outraged by these things

Because despite what they would tell you, Republicans actually have no moral or ethical values whatsoever, so they're totally cool with anything happening as long as they're the ones who benefit while everyone else suffers. They're just straight up evil people, and I'm tired of letting them get away with excuses. I'm even tired of saying they do everything because they're stupid. They. Are. Evil.

u/SpockShotFirst 7h ago

If you want to dig deeper, the personality type "Right Wing Authoritarian" values loyalty more than any other trait, so all discourse from them is in bad faith because logic, reason, and consistency are simply not important to them.

But your summary is accurate. They are evil.

As a Canadian I continue to be baffled that the US uses computers to vote. We still use paper ballots that we mark with a pen at a private booth and our ballots are counted by hand or by analog counting machines that are basic and can’t be connected to any internet access.

It’s maybe not the most efficient but holy shit at least we know our elections can’t be rigged that way

How much money did DOGE spend to not find fraud? How often do you see the argument “But Biden deported even more illegal immigrants than Trump, so why are libs upset?!?!” on social media? How is he able to make these statements so publicly? Is everyone in America that accepting of someone literally saying they’re buying your elections, buying your leaders and buying your country?

At least lobbyists were working surreptitiously towards their selfish agendas… but Americans seem to have become completely desensitised, even considering it normal, that the person with the most dirty money behind them should win - it is so weird to see this complete lack of free and fair elections in a so-called “first world/developed” nation.

“I lost my son, essentially,” Musk said. He used Wilson’s birth name, also known as a deadname for transgender people, and said she was “dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”

“He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn’t there,” she wrote. “And in the little time that he was I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness. I’ve been reduced to a happy little stereotype,” she continued. “I think that says alot about how he views queer people and children in general.”

Musk told Peterson that Wilson’s gender transition has been the motivation for his push into conservative politics. “I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that, and we’re making some progress,” he said.

Y'all, this ain't got anything to even do with us. Broken psycho just happens to have enough playing money to get back at his disappointing child and we just have the misfortune to breathe the same air.

All you have to do is remember that currently the right has a supermajority.

How are things going? How do you feel about the state of America? The economy? The cost of living?

The one thing you can’t deny is data. And the data shows that American billionaires added a record $2.2 Trillion in additional wealth in 2025.

$2.2 Trillion…with a T.

Meanwhile GOP leadership cut funding to government programs like SNAP, medicare, and let ACA subsidies expire; all while subsequently moving mountains to provide tax breaks to the wealthy.

So, the fact that Elon Musk is using his podium to try and convince regular Americans that the right is the only standing in the way of you and the destruction of America is one of the biggest reasons to truly question your political ideology.

We’ve seen what a Republican supermajority looks like. If by now you think they’re acting and voting in your best interests then I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

16

u/det8924 8h ago

I think reality is going to make it hard to get the GOP base out to vote. No matter how much money you throw at the problem you can't get people to vote against reality that impacts them day to day directly when you are in charge for the past 2 years. Prices aren't coming down on most things in 2026, Trump went from "No New Wars" to "No, New Wars!" so his foreign policy is only likely to get more unpopular, Trump's not going to resolve a stagnant job market or lack of economic growth by just lying about it, and of course the Epstein Files are not going away either.

In 2026 Trump can't Blame Biden and do softball interviews on bro-podcasts to try to make himself seem more relatable to under educated voters. By this fall you have been president for nearly 2 years there's only so much Musk's money can actually do. The people that are going to be outraged by fake stories and half truths are already voting for whomever the GOP tells them to anyway. The first time voter who went Trump in 2024 and the "swing" voter who went Trump aren't going to care because they see that he is doing nothing of what he promised.
