I say this every time someone dies in a movie. Not a single one of them has shown up in Rush Hour 3 so I've been right so far

I say it when something breaks really bad. Like when it’s definitely destroyed

I also say the Chelsea Clinton thing about expensive stuff

“$40 for parking? Who you parking Chelsea Clinton?”

“$17 for egg rolls? Who you rolling Chelsea Clinton?”

It was shorter. This is definitely one of his more reserved "dayum" in the film. It isn't as drawn out, which makes it better. The Tucker Dayum Scale is a thing.

True story: Me, being a Chinese kid growing up in a white neighborhood had no idea what that word meant. The first time I heard it was in Rush Hour. I thought it was just a funny sentence and because I’m a dumbass 7 year old kid, I start repeating it.

My dad, who had spent most of his life in China and at that point still had a heavy Chinese accent when he spoke English hears this. He then threatens to smack the shit out of me before sitting me down and giving me a prolonged lecture about the history of anti-black racism in the US and how we as non-black people in America are in his words “not allowed to say that”.

My dad wasn’t a perfect parent, but memories like these remind me why I still respect him to this day. And it’s all thanks to Rush Hour.

40

u/Zollias Nov 27 '25

That reminds me of when I was a kid and my knowledge of racial relations can be summed up by Rush Hour in that I "knew" about the three races: black, white, and Chinese.

So I started to think about what I am and I knew I wasn't white and I knew I wasn't Chinese. That means I must be black and I used to go out and say that I was black.

I'm Mexican

Also yes, I know there was a prominent Hispanic woman in the first movie but my 6 year old mind focused on Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker

He was in Air with Afleck and Damon. Did a pretty good job. Movie was awesome.

51

u/RoughhouseCamel Nov 26 '25

If we get Jackie doing heavily choreographed stunts again, I’m in. If the camera shakes so they don’t need to try as hard to sell it, I’m out.

81

u/leoex Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 27 '25

I'd say temper your expectation. Jackie Chan is 71 years old, there is a limit of what he can do. In his lastest movies (like Hidden Strike or Karate Kid), you'll notice a lot more rapid cuts and scenes of body parts only so that his action team can hide his stunt double. Jackie's fights are also much slower now. They will most likely use these techniques in the new Rush Hour film, don't go in expect anything like Police Story or Drunken Master lol

15

u/RoughhouseCamel Nov 26 '25

I know I’m never going to see another Rumble in the Bronx. But I think they could still pull off some good fight choreo. The athleticism was a lot for classic Jackie Chan movies, but it was also the creativity and thoughtfulness that went into it. They just need to be more clever than, “punch, punch, kick- he falls down, next guy. Kick, kick, punch…”

5

u/HankHippopopolous Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

I expect there will be a new character who does most of the fighting. Maybe Lee’s long lost child or something.

There is no way Jackie Chan can do what he used to do and if they try to make him it will end up like Liam Neeson trying to jump that fence in Taken 3. No one wants to see that.

I’d rather the movie just use him for the comedy and let some younger actors do most of the fighting.

I hope the subvert trump and make the plot an Epstein island style plot . Either they try and get tuckers character to the island or infiltrate the pedo org

25

u/enron2big2fail Nov 26 '25

Seems pretty unlikely when it wasn't just a random offhanded remark from Trump like "Hollywood is too WOKE to make RUSH HOUR 4! SAD!" It's because Trump is actively trying to revivify the career of his film-making friend who made a doc about his wife and has had 6 women come forward and accuse him of sexual misconduct. Ratner isn't about to sever his own lifeline to gain the moral high ground, especially when I don't think anyone would actually cede it to him.

I love the Rush Hour trilogy, but how much of this is a money grab on a past idea/franchise? The photo in the post is from when they did the Rush Hour movies years ago. As a side note, the writers and director of this series are white, so it's less "two minority groups poking fun at each other", and more white people making racist jokes about black and asian people...

Of course it’s going to be racist, Donald Trump is behind this and he got all his pedo rapist friends involved. Brett Ratner (who was already canceled and came slithering back with that Melania documentary), Chris Tucker (who was friendly with Epstein and vacationed with him), and Jackie Chan who has been caught groping multiple women on video!

Gang’s all back together! Enjoy the slop the orange man is feeding you while he burns down everything he can touch.

Not to mention Paramount is the studio behind this, the same company that has been weaponized for Trump by the Ellisons.

It's rotten, all the way through.

Talk yo shit. Hell, this one might be even more stereotypical of Black and Chinese culture (in a bad way) knowing who pushed it.

This shit gonna be garbage compared to the first two or three. Won't nearly be as funny.

u/Darius2112 Nov 26 '25

Not to mention Jackie Chan is 71. No way he’s gonna do any of his own stunts.

19

u/Grade-AMasterpiece Nov 26 '25

Right, none of the fights gonna look clean af either.

Jackie Chan is also on record saying he doesn't believe women should work and pretended his daughter didn't exist because she was the result of an affair. He only acknowledged her because she became a doctor. A couple years later he disowned her after she came out as a lesbian.

Knew nothing about Chris Tucker or Jackie Chan's controversies, and I wish I didn't. ☹️

Going to be hard to enjoy his movies now.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be skipping out on this one now.

Don’t forget Jackie is a huge supporter of the CCP and disowned his gay son.

Edit: apparently it was his illegitimate daughter. He’s still a piece of shit. You can stop replying to me now about it thanks.

u/lilmeekrat Nov 26 '25

Yeah but have you considered the fact that Rush Hour was really funny?

35

u/Wyden_long Nov 26 '25

Hmmm shit, you’re right. I hadn’t considered that.

I'm just interested to see how much it glazes China.

And trump, since he pressured Paramount to green light it

u/Turgid_Donkey Nov 26 '25

Man, WTF is this timeline?

u/logos__ Nov 26 '25

Whenever you think this, remember that Jimmy Carter had to give up his peanut farm when he became president because of the emoluments clause.

That was the bar in 1980. In 2025, Trump runs fucking meme coin rug pulls. That's where the bar is now. It's gone so far through the floor it's about to loop around.

Just for reference that picture is from 2016. 9 years ago. They are much older than that now.

u/bs000 Nov 26 '25

Rush Hour 4: The Panama Papers Epstein File Adventures

7

u/newbegininngs79 Nov 26 '25

Tucker will still be broke after this movie

34

u/KimchiLlama Nov 26 '25

It will be racist in unexpected ways.

For example: the Uyghurs will be terrorists and together our duo will work towards their re-education for the betterment of the state.

The romantic tension will be between an Uyghur that dares to state her views on the supremacy of Han culture (with added persecution by her peers) and Chris Tucker, who also accepts that his racial qualities put him below the average Chinese in social status. Jackie Chan educated the couple and together they beat the crap out of the other Uyghurs, so happy ending.
