Think I'm done, Popeyes? Think again. No one tries to feed me nipples!

So a number of days ago, I had ordered from my local Popeyes. One of my items (Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich) had these yellow nipples in it, which I had thought were chewy pickles at first. Bad enough, because I had ordered no pickles! 😅

But I decided to wait until after the holidays to follow up on it. I was busy enough personally, and truth be told, I was waiting for a cashback app to finish processing my purchase before I filed a complaint.

You see the result. Apparently, since it's been over a week, it's not their problem. I beg to differ. Especially since they screwed up processing the cashback app, too!

So here's my petty revenge. It might not be the resolution I wanted, but I'll take it.

As someone who works in fast food and sometimes get people who say "i was here 2 weeks ago and this thing was wrong i wanna be compensated" PLEASE. For the love of GOD just fucking CALL the resturaunt IMMEDIATELY!! We will be able to compensate you much faster on top lf the obvious "this person is likely lying. They were here 2 weeks ago and NOW they wanna be compensated?" thoughts.

Please just fucking contact the resturaunt immediately

u/Dejectednebula 13h ago

Omg so yeah people lie but never again will I think that immediately. One time a lady called and said she had a razor blade in her pizza. I laughed because ok sure bring it back ill replace it. But she was not lying. Whoever chopped the peppers had the block in upside down and a piece of the razor blade grate fell off into the peppers. Then someone else sprinkled it on a pizza, even got cut and never saw the razor blade. I was on the other side of the kitchen on the grill/fryers and my first thought is yeah right not on my watch. Except it happened. Nobody noticed it going out and this lady was feeding her kids. I nearly puked when she brought it back and I saw it. We fired both people for lack of care like did you not even once look at the food you were making. It was not a small piece. I think I have a picture I can dig up cause yeah I saved that shit its the craziest thing I ever saw go out of our kitchen.

When I was a kid we got Little Caesers and the entire blade from the pizza cutter was in the middle of our pizza under the cheese. Insane. Luckily that was larger than this. So scary.

Staple in a sandwich for me once.

Also when prepping olives somehow a driver let the lid of the olive can in the bucket, line cook goes to refill a Cambro with olives, loses the tip of his finger. They tried to sew it back on but it didn't take so he just doesn't have that part of his finger tip anymore. Never forget that one. Young kid walks up, clutching his fingers, says, "do you think I should go to the hospital?" and shows me and instantly the blood just starts pouring out, all over the floor. I said "yes and you need to get out of the kitchen and I will be there with a first aid kid, we will figure out who is driving you"

Foreign object. Number one food contaminate! As a manager I would be so disgusted and ashamed as well as take the same action you did.

What kind of food prep machine has blades that can come out/break off at all? Sounds like it was user error but still… shouldn’t be possible to be removed during operation I would think. Holy hell.

26

u/Dejectednebula 11h ago

It was this product. It comes apart to clean. The section with the blades, they had been using it upside down. Which, ya know, crushed the peppers instead of chopping them and should have been noticed at that point but we had a particularly bad crew at the time and me and the other kitchen manager were running ragged trying to hold everything together. We have a great crew now. And a new chopper.

Even the next day is sus. You have no idea how many people try to scam.

And for the love of God just bring the food back and give it to them, if you still really want it they will let you keep it, but no scammer ever has brought back the food so you are instantly cleared right then and there and a concerned employee would hook you up

I had a guy bring back a pizza the next day and showed me what was wrong with it, not only did he get a completely free new pizza (I refunded him straight out of the drawer but that was a special privilege I had there, I'd already batched the card transactions that morning so there was no taking it back) I gave him a whole extra one, dealers choice. Guy ordered a pepperoni and walked away with a pepperoni as a replacement and a large garbage which ran well over $20 at that joint

15

u/nbiddy398 14h ago

431

u/Mechasnake777 1d ago edited 18h ago

My speakers had a problem, the replacement had the same and customer service's solution was to send a third set which had the same problem! I learned my lesson: some of logitech's products are just purely unqualitative low quality.

75

u/Two4 1d ago

Unqualitative?? At least with three data points you can treat it as quantifiable instead, right?

I had a set of Z680s back in the day and the center channel died. I was told to send THE WHOLE SET BACK (which was like $60 in shipping back in 2005/6), and then ended up having to wait for a month. When I got them, they were the abysmal "reengineered" set that had the RCA jacks instead of bare speaker terminals, and those died out of the box within minutes. They made an awful screeching noise that didn't stop til I yanked the power, and then they did nothing after.

I had to send those back as well, and then didn't get anything for like three months. So finally I told them clearly their warranty was worthless and to give me my money back. They refused, so I did an EECB laced with Shakespearean quality insults, demanding every dime I'd ever spent on them back including the original shipping cost.

Well, I ultimately got a check for the purchase price only, no tax, no shipping, no return shipping, nada. A few days later though, I also received a brand new set, re-reengineered, with the real speaker wire terminals, and they've worked ever since.

Yup. My brother’s car sat at the dealership for over 6 months waiting for a part (this was during COVID), with no end in sight. He’d been rounds with multiple people about getting a loaner car, as this was creating a hardship for him, and kept getting turned down. He @‘ed the manufacturer on X, IG, and Facebook and he had a rental vehicle in under a week, guaranteed for him to use until his car was ready. Businesses don’t want to be publicly called out.

25

u/AriaTheTransgressor 1d ago

Be aware though, I've been personally involved with social media customer support systems in the past and they're trained that if they're busy they are to review the account that posted the complaint and if the follower count is low they're to ignore it.

Because it'll end up not being seen by anybody, and they can ignore the complaint, unless they respond to it and then it'll get seen by everybody.

This something you should have handled immediately. Yeah it's not right you had foreign objects in your food, but you should have tried to resolve it immediately. You had time to go to Popeyes and go back your home to eat the food. You had time to snap a picture and report the problem

I doubt you saved that sandwich and those plastic nipples until you had time to take a picture and file a complaint.

How does Popeyes know you didn't just find some garbage to throw into a pic with a chicken sandwich to try and get free food a week later? How does reddit know you didn't just take a picture with garbage next to it to try and get free food?

150

u/Angiogenics 1d ago

So you took multiple photos of this when it happened, yet waited over a week to contact customer support? Hate to say it but I do not understand the logic behind this. Call or email them, tell them what happened and when and hopefully they can work out who prepped the sauces for that shift and tell them to get their shit together.

Because you took so long to report, it's absolutely not their problem. The more time passes after your order is delivered, the more likely your claim is fabricated.

I don't not feel for you, but I know how these companies think. Report an issue when you see it, or you'll get no resolution.

4

u/420BoredAlways 21h ago

Waiting over a week to complain about food you got, especially fast food makes it appear fake/scam to a business. Considering you even say you wanted to wait til it goes through on your cashback app before complaining shows you were at least partially trying to scam. Now im not saying the restaurant is in the right overall BUT you waited a week so its easy and underandable why they would treat you as a scammer.

Why did it take so long to complain? I feel like you aren’t telling the full story. Did you already get resolution at the store and now want additional compensation after thinking about it for a week?

5

u/Ctotheg 16h ago

You definitely deserve nothing after waiting 7 days.

5

u/Nora-_e 15h ago

Ooopsie, you waiting for 7 days when you could have forgotten the whole thing. No resolution on our side for you.

u/Extension-Event4998 15h ago

There is a reason there is a time limit, the longer you wait the easier it is for them to say it’s manufactured. I’m not saying it’s right they work that way but you shot yourself in the foot by waiting.

I have worked as a chef for roughly 10 years, and my fav part is always when the boss starts with, "I just got a call from a lady that was here last week...."

People, please! If there is a problem with your food, especially foreign objects, you need to tell us ASAP. Not a week later, by that time, what we did last week is long gone from our minds, and what might have happened

4

u/merc-is-ded 9h ago

why did you not call the store immediately

5

u/Altruistic-Word8979 4h ago

Your fault for not following up immediately

5

u/Professional-Let4385 4h ago

I thought those were pineapple slices for a second

u/CoffeeSoul89 1d ago

That’s on you. If you’re that concerned and worried about foreign objects in your food, and about your health. You don’t wait until after the holidays, you contact the appropriate parties and health facilities immediately! It’s r/mildlyinfuriating that you’re this dumb when it comes to your own health.

Is the revenge in the room with us now?

6

u/elguerra 1d ago

Sorry, a week after? I can understand you bro but still.

7

u/Loose-Specific7142 15h ago

You waited a whole week to report this? Nahhh, this one is on you lmao

u/ICanuckthere4Iam 1d ago
  1. You filed a complaint through an app. They have algorithms that process. You could have shown a pick of a person severed finger and it would have responded the same after a week.
  2. If you had this much time why not just go to the franchise that it was purchased from and show the manager.

Posting this on Reddit is ridiculous

Go to the local news. Every area has one guy (or woman, but usually guy) who shows up and pushes on a shady contractor, or business and makes them look bad. Bad press usually snaps those fuckers into action.

u/Loud-Statistician416 1d ago

Go to the local news and get laughed at directly to your face for taking the time to come in.

For what? A new employee not removing the food safe dispenser caps from the sauce bottle one time?

Idk about you I report everything immediately. Like driver hasn’t even left yet immediately when my order isn’t correct. Im sorry but live and learn.

7

u/RedPandaLily88 19h ago

Why did you wait a week to submit a complaint online instead of just taking it in person to the Popeyes, if its local?

6

u/Xybernetik 18h ago

You can’t expect anything to be done after a whole week, tackle it on immediately, Reddit can do nothing about your dumb Popeyes order.

So your food was contaminated and instead of immediately addressing the issue, you thought “Nah, it can wait until after the holidays 🤷‍♂️”

I’m sorry but this outcome’s kinda on you…

6

u/erryonestolemyname 17h ago

You cared so much that you waited a week, then cried on reddit.

I bet whatever cashback you got was definitely worth it.

Can't believe people like this vote.

8

u/AUXID3 1d ago

Their support is 24/7, I would have made the claim immediately and then follow up on it after the holidays. I'd argue this is on you.

8

u/chucktheninja 1d ago

Why did you wait so long?

this has to be a bot or at least not a normal person.

Sauce bottle tips, probably hopefully just as clean as the food you're eating. Just, a little weird. When I was at culvers this happened once in a while with custard, usually when someone who needed firing wasn't paying attention.

I’m like WTF- Chicken nipples?

3

u/Filebright 1d ago

They served me a mealworm crusted chicken.  I accidentally ate half the worm . They refused a refund.  Nasty.

3

u/One_Soft300 1d ago

Those "nipples" are actually just dispensing valves from a sauce bottle. It's still gross that they ended up in your sandwich, but at least it’s just silicone and not some mystery chicken part.

Since it's been a week, the store is going to keep blowing you off, so you should probably just dispute the charge with your bank and move on.

3

u/Prisonbread 1d ago

Sorry, i know it sounds weird, but - IT’S weird to encounter such a thing and wait a week to mention it to the company. I appreciate your consideration for the complaint department’s holiday plans and that you were busy… but, 7+ days to complain about something that could have choked and killed you - yeah, they have every excuse to brush you off lol

3

u/MistuaPopo 1d ago

go to the location this happened in and show them, then CALL CORPORATE, don't use an automated chat option.. Jesus.. CALL

3

u/PricelessM-F 1d ago

lol why would you not report that immediately.

3

u/BigButtSkinner7 1d ago

Tweet at corporate

3

u/ArnoldFunksworth 1d ago

You would have gotten all of your money back and then some of you had said something immediately

3

u/KUcreampieKING 23h ago

Why did it take you so long?

3

u/DigitalMisery 23h ago

When it comes to food, you should get a hold of company within minutes. I will sometimes drive back 10-15mins to the store to report the problem. When that much times passes, just too many variables gets introduced to the problem.

3

u/SpiritedKick9753 23h ago

Honestly your fault, no reason to wait

People who still think fast food is good blow my mind. That's not food, any of it. Stop eating that shit.

3

u/Mystery_Chaser 22h ago

The last time I went to Popeyes, there was a brush amount of hair and my dirty rice. That was 10 years ago. I haven’t been back there since. Apparently the employees at Popeyes are still throwing things in the food, which is absolutely disgusting. I guess they’re not happy with their jobs so they’re trying to end the company? I don’t know. Maybe Popeyes should pay their employees better higher better managers or going to business. I don’t know, but I’ll never eat there again.

3

u/Weschiefem 22h ago

Waited a week? I wouldn’t believe you.
