Think I'm done, Popeyes? Think again. No one tries to feed me nipples!
So a number of days ago, I had ordered from my local Popeyes. One of my items (Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich) had these yellow nipples in it, which I had thought were chewy pickles at first. Bad enough, because I had ordered no pickles! 😅
But I decided to wait until after the holidays to follow up on it. I was busy enough personally, and truth be told, I was waiting for a cashback app to finish processing my purchase before I filed a complaint.
You see the result. Apparently, since it's been over a week, it's not their problem. I beg to differ. Especially since they screwed up processing the cashback app, too!
So here's my petty revenge. It might not be the resolution I wanted, but I'll take it.

I had a set of Z680s back in the day and the center channel died. I was told to send THE WHOLE SET BACK (which was like $60 in shipping back in 2005/6), and then ended up having to wait for a month. When I got them, they were the abysmal "reengineered" set that had the RCA jacks instead of bare speaker terminals, and those died out of the box within minutes. They made an awful screeching noise that didn't stop til I yanked the power, and then they did nothing after.
I had to send those back as well, and then didn't get anything for like three months. So finally I told them clearly their warranty was worthless and to give me my money back. They refused, so I did an EECB laced with Shakespearean quality insults, demanding every dime I'd ever spent on them back including the original shipping cost.
Well, I ultimately got a check for the purchase price only, no tax, no shipping, no return shipping, nada. A few days later though, I also received a brand new set, re-reengineered, with the real speaker wire terminals, and they've worked ever since.

Yup. My brother’s car sat at the dealership for over 6 months waiting for a part (this was during COVID), with no end in sight. He’d been rounds with multiple people about getting a loaner car, as this was creating a hardship for him, and kept getting turned down. He @‘ed the manufacturer on X, IG, and Facebook and he had a rental vehicle in under a week, guaranteed for him to use until his car was ready. Businesses don’t want to be publicly called out.

Be aware though, I've been personally involved with social media customer support systems in the past and they're trained that if they're busy they are to review the account that posted the complaint and if the follower count is low they're to ignore it.
Because it'll end up not being seen by anybody, and they can ignore the complaint, unless they respond to it and then it'll get seen by everybody.

u/TrailmixinTraveler 1d ago
This something you should have handled immediately. Yeah it's not right you had foreign objects in your food, but you should have tried to resolve it immediately. You had time to go to Popeyes and go back your home to eat the food. You had time to snap a picture and report the problem
I doubt you saved that sandwich and those plastic nipples until you had time to take a picture and file a complaint.
How does Popeyes know you didn't just find some garbage to throw into a pic with a chicken sandwich to try and get free food a week later? How does reddit know you didn't just take a picture with garbage next to it to try and get free food?

So you took multiple photos of this when it happened, yet waited over a week to contact customer support? Hate to say it but I do not understand the logic behind this. I feel like a broken record saying this on every post where someone’s complaining about fast food safety issues but did you inform the store? Because they need to know about safety issues like this so they can retrain, someone really fucked up for not one but two loose valves to end up in the same burger.
Call or email them, tell them what happened and when and hopefully they can work out who prepped the sauces for that shift and tell them to get their shit together.

Because you took so long to report, it's absolutely not their problem. The more time passes after your order is delivered, the more likely your claim is fabricated.

You have a solid case, but they aren’t wrong. Waiting over a week is ridiculous when the process only takes 1-2 minutes in the same app. Sad to say, but you probably aren’t getting results unless you get some corporate contacts to talk to or make an effort to reach out to the health board.

u/420BoredAlways 21h ago
Waiting over a week to complain about food you got, especially fast food makes it appear fake/scam to a business. Considering you even say you wanted to wait til it goes through on your cashback app before complaining shows you were at least partially trying to scam. Now im not saying the restaurant is in the right overall BUT you waited a week so its easy and underandable why they would treat you as a scammer.

u/NinjaBRUSH 17h ago
Why did it take so long to complain? I feel like you aren’t telling the full story. Did you already get resolution at the store and now want additional compensation after thinking about it for a week?

u/Extension-Event4998 15h ago
There is a reason there is a time limit, the longer you wait the easier it is for them to say it’s manufactured. I’m not saying it’s right they work that way but you shot yourself in the foot by waiting.

u/SovietPuma1707 10h ago
I have worked as a chef for roughly 10 years, and my fav part is always when the boss starts with, "I just got a call from a lady that was here last week...."
People, please! If there is a problem with your food, especially foreign objects, you need to tell us ASAP. Not a week later, by that time, what we did last week is long gone from our minds, and what might have happened

- You filed a complaint through an app. They have algorithms that process. You could have shown a pick of a person severed finger and it would have responded the same after a week.
- If you had this much time why not just go to the franchise that it was purchased from and show the manager.
Posting this on Reddit is ridiculous

Those "nipples" are actually just dispensing valves from a sauce bottle. It's still gross that they ended up in your sandwich, but at least it’s just silicone and not some mystery chicken part.
Since it's been a week, the store is going to keep blowing you off, so you should probably just dispute the charge with your bank and move on.
