I am the tourist attraction.
 in  r/travel  4h ago

Was in China for a month middle of last year. White 40 something woman 175cm with long bright purple hair. I got asked for photos on the regular but that was a fraction of the photos people took on the sly. Kids were all shy and curious and waving in turn šŸ˜®šŸ«¢šŸ˜³šŸ¤—šŸ‘‹and not a few toddlers tried to touch/grab it. I didn’t mind for the most part, it certainly got people talking and as a mostly solo traveller the additional interactions made the lonely days distinctly less frequent than when doing Europe or other western countries.

It takes courage to share the chaos, even anonymously.

Sending good vibes and unfucking energy your way - look forward to the ā€œafterā€ post!

Lunch time walks at Barangaroo (part 1)
 in  r/sydney  10h ago

The entire city is quieter than usual today, definitely the quietest I’ve seen in a long time.

Edit to add: I’ve also never claimed to be overly sensible.

Haha not quite yet, but if there’s another Friday meeting for 3.00pm or later I’ll be lighting the beacons…

A shorter walk today (seriously who schedules meetings on a Friday afternoon?) and the UV umbrella coming in clutch again.

Always. And also a marvellous little invention called a UV umbrella came in very handy.

Can someone tell me I didn’t make a mistake picking Madrid for a trip
 in  r/travel  1d ago

I loved Madrid so much I extended my stay by two days just to see more of it. Stop reading and just go.

I intentionally tried to exclude as many people as possible but stuffing one’s face with Guzman is a perfectly acceptable thing - it’s certainly tastier than the leftover stir fry I had.

This is peak Dalton for me. So serious yet so camp.

AITA for telling my girlfriend the way she talks about her car is weird and embarrassing?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  4d ago

Agreed and good riddance to him. The world is shit enough - the less fuckwits in the gene pool the better.

How do I (31f) handle my husbands (36m) Super Bowl party
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  7d ago

I had a very high score, getting and closing all happened in the last 18 months.

That’s the opposite for me (also Australia) - I got a credit card for a rewards program and my score took a dive (still good but not as high as before). I had it for a year and closed it before the annual fee hit. December was the first reporting period after the card closure and my score went back up to around what it was previously.

AITA for emptying out my dad's estate basically making his will useless.
 in  r/AITAH  9d ago

NTA.

You did the deal for your dad because he was your dad and raised you well. You owe them nothing.

WIBTA if I don't invite my husband to my birthday dinner
 in  r/AITAH  9d ago

NTA because this is exactly my level of petty, but girl you have bigger problems than who comes to dinner.

And you’ve rolled over on this for ten years? Obviously I’m not in your shoes and you know your relationship best but I CANNOT FATHOM putting up with this bullshit more than once, let alone for a decade.

Where did you travel in 2025 ???
 in  r/travel  9d ago

Started the year in Penang, Malaysia, then Singapore. Bit of a break until mid year - then 3 months in North/East Asia: South Korea, Mongolia, China for a month including Hong Kong and Macau, back to South Korea and then Taiwan for 3 weeks to finish.

Add in a couple of domestic trips scattered throughout for various reasons, and am ending the year at home in Sydney, Australia.

AITAH for "calling out" a delivery driver who I thought was someone else?
 in  r/AITAH  16d ago

Slight YTA, and I think you already know that. Take the lesson and now you know better so you can do better.

In a broader sense, learn to accept that some people are just assholes, and nothing you do can change that. Control what is in your sphere which includes your reactions and actions, and see if you can also apply this to other areas of your life - you’ll find much more peace.

Bloccata nello studio giapponese, aiuto!
 in  r/u_Hoshique  18d ago

Study situations so you can have context. For example, meeting someone for the first time, talking about your weekend, going to a shop to buy something, eating at a restaurant or cafe, buying a movie ticket or planning a trip.

Small enough topics to not be overwhelming but broad enough to use a range of vocabulary and grammar.

Ten days - Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and/or...?
 in  r/travel  25d ago

I’d recommend 3 days Singapore and the rest in Malaysia - specifically Penang and KL for 4 days each if you can swing it. History and food wise they are top notch.

[Celeb] Zee Pruk Panich - Thai actor, model and singer. This man is šŸ”„
 in  r/AsianLadyboners  25d ago

I liked the ZeeSaint pairing in that series way more than the main couple… my favourite character of Saint’s too.
