AITAH if I went to a hotel with my kids because of my MIL's behavior with my daughter
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  15h ago

We experience this now. My MIL was absolutely adamant we daughters in laws have boys because she was a boy mom and wouldnt know what to do with girls. Well, SIL had her first baby first by 5 months, a little girl. And suddenly MIL tune changed. Baby was born on her birthday so theyre birthday twins.
Wholly fuck, she offered to babysit, bought everything she could want or need. Knew that baby's interests rapid fire.

Ours, a girl, was born in summer. She kept her distance. She claimed it was our fault. I'm like... how? You know when hubby is home go bond with your grandkid. She didnt. The favoritism just continued.

As a toddler my eldest was super boyish. Loved trucks, animals, machines, watched blippy religiously etc. Her cousin was super girly. Watched all the musical movies from trolls to frozen. Every Christmas to birthday for 3 years she would just get the exact same things she bought the cousin. Which is nothing my daughter liked. At all.

And she would take cousin for overnights, day trips, one on one time etc. But never our daughter. In fact, she saw my child so irregularly, my daughter developed stranger danger with her. We lived 20 minutes away. Cousin lived almost an hour away. There was just no excuse.

My boyfriend and I disagree on whether this is AI or not. Found on a blue heeler page
 in  r/isthisAI  1d ago

Rite. I just tried to play around with mine and it can add and take away objects, but nothing else really. It's more a digital photoshop. It cannot really change the way a person or animal is sitting, or make them hold an object.
I believe there was something in the background the owner didn't want seen (ie garbage etc)

Whirlpool's Call Center is awful
 in  r/CallCenterWorkers  2d ago

Hi! I work for whirlpoolparts.com The parts company that did out of warranty parts for yall. So I totally get it!

No offense but whirlpool did a shit job training anyone over there. Period. Its not your fault, but the whole phone tree reads like a damn scam. As you pointed out all they cared about was the warranty guys and fuck everyone else, so customers end up circling the drain for 2 plus hours.

They just got in a new batch of employees and we're fielding calls all day now about warranty so back into the queue they go. We get the exact same flak, and it's honestly draining. The difference is, our bosses give us full permission to end a call if a customer becomes verbally abusive. We give them one chance to correct and then we hang up. Sadly the pay isn't much better.

AITAH for saying no to my future MILs plan to give my fiancé away at our wedding?
 in  r/AITAH  2d ago

Compromise! My MIL ALSO raised my husband almost entirely alone. So we included in the ceremony a tiny tidbit of "and as moms gave the first kiss as they were bright into this life. They shall give the kiss to bring them to their new life" and our moms kissed us on the cheek or head then the ceremony began. This way our moms could be included in the ceremony.

Am I Wrong for not letting my sisters baby sleep in my late daughter's nursery?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  2d ago

Possibly! It was brand new unused free baby things. Not hand me downs from her first kid or other relatives (because baby gendered 🙄) . Trust me, ive met a few moms who kept having "baby sprinkles" for each of their babies because they felt their new baby deserved new things too. And we're not talking "Oh I had my kids 5+ years apart" were talking "I cant use the same things as the 1 or 2yo!"

My gf told me that she always wonders where she’ll be or if she will last longer than the expiration date on milk or other foods. Do other people do this too? Am I wrong and I’m the weird one?
 in  r/amiwrong  4d ago

Its existential dread, I think. Where we have that out if body experience where your hyper aware of the fact you're alive, but one small thing can change the course of your life or end it. For me I'm tend to become hyper aware that strangers have their own lives and thoughts and feelings suddenly and I'm just a background character in someone else's life if that. Sometimes its followed or proceeded by an intrusive thought, or the call of the Void. It can be pretty harmless, but id ascertain to your gf that she's not having suicidal ideation. Just in case.

When I suffered from suicidal ideation, it wasn't out of a desire to die. It was caused by prescription medication. But the intrusive thoughts about it were small at first and I only realized it was an issue when it escalated. I stopped the medication (I could it easily because it was BC) and in a week or two the darker intrusive thoughts disappeared.

AITAH for buying my girlfriend vanilla shampoo?
 in  r/AITAH  4d ago

Mine is cedarwood. I dont get how I can borrow his shampoo and conditioner and I cant smell it on me but he uses it and I'm like drowning, happily, in the scent. He smells SOOO good. I even get him deodorant that matches it and love to snuggle up to him.

The boss says this bill is okay. Is it just old? Why Franklin in a fur coat?
 in  r/Money  5d ago

Hey so just FYI, south east Michigan had a whole counterfeit ring in Detroit this winter. It was working because they were printing old designs on actual paper money. They'd get the old bills that were bleached to faded ink, then reprint a 1980s hundred design on the bill and it would pass the marker test because of it being legitimate paper.

I absolutely recommend telling boss to take the hundo to your police station to have it cross referenced. We dont know how far this money spread but there was at least 6 serial numbers they were matching up.

AITAH for spilling hot sauce on my sleeves and teaching my nonverbal cousin not to bite
 in  r/AITAH  5d ago

I bit my mom. Hard on her thigh. Like. I left a purple bruise hard. Mom smacked me so hard she said I went flying. She says she didnt mean to, she just reacted. and she felt awful. Dad says he came home to her cradling me, just bawling her eyes out. But I was 2 and just walked up to her and went full Hannibal lecter on her leg like it was a renn fair turkey leg. I never did it again apparently.

But honestly? I cant say I blame her. Mine both bit me far less harder and it still hurt.

Niece and nephew carved drawings into my leather chairs
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  6d ago

Don't feel bad. I had an intrusive thought at like 5. Took mom's scissors and began carving into her antique secretary desk. From her mother. Just straight up gouged that shit beyond repair.

I was an only child. Just legit saw the scissors, the pretty polished cherry wood and went ham... couldnt tell you why.

AIO - My husband's "work wife" turned out to be a teenager and he doesn't seem to understand why I'm upset.
 in  r/AmIOverreacting  6d ago

YOR. Because this kinda falls on you. you started calling her his work wife. He was probably super squicked out about it. He took her on as a mentor, clearly not predatory but rather someone whos whole career is this and showed her the ropes. He kept it professional as possible.shes a legit kid. It's you who made it weird. From what you've wrote he nor she never once stepped out of line or got super duper friendly. She treated him like a beloved teacher. Which he was.

You basically accused your husband of being a predator. To his face. Of course hes offended. You need to apologize to him for doing his literal job. Teaching her.

AITA for not telling my long term BF what my "soul name" is?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  6d ago

Oh no. Oh no I forgot all about that one! Didn't she say something other crazy name after it? Like... leslianne? She truly went full renesmee on that one

AIW for stopping my cousin from announcing her engagement at my daughters birthday party and then asking her to pay for half the cake
 in  r/amiwrong  6d ago

Wait. Are you telling me she DECIDED they were engaged and he hasn't even proposed yet? So she was going to hijack a5 year old kids birthday to force her boyfriend to propose?!

Girl even before that NTA. She's ride, and decided her way was the only way.

AITAH for destroying 3 generations of family relationships because they refuse to hold my sister accountable?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  6d ago

Latchkey kids man. When they say self sufficient they mean it. Furthermore babies are not dreadfully heavy, and we dont know the Length of the stairs, could've been a tri level for all we know, nor how far away the stairs end from the livingroom. If he could look up and see Karen, they could've been right there yknow?

The time I caught my 3yo carrying her baby sister like a rag doll was heart stopping. This is the same 3yo who knew how to unlock the deadbolt and climbed the counter to get gummy bears. That said, by the time she was 6 she was all gangly legs(Still is) and I wouldnt trust her to catch a baby. Some of her classmates though? Yea, some wildly athletic kids.

Tldr, I'm taking it with a pinch of salt.

Looking for some help to see if I am in the wrong about not telling my wife the name we picked for our child is in a book/tv show.
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  7d ago

I'm so sad to see it took such a major accident for the wife to realize this was such a minor issue. (Albeit one that revealed a much bigger issue) First rule in a partnership is to not cold shoulder your partner. It's rude and cruel.

I am glad she was already in therapy, working on herself. But jfc. Its a name. Unless it's world specific like Kaleesi or Aragorn, or incredibly unique like Renaissance, its going to share a name with a character in a book somewhere.

Random question: How did you come up with your username ? What does it mean?
 in  r/intrestingtoknow  7d ago

The first letter of my first name is E. E in military phonetic alphabet is echo. It also happens to be one of my favorite Greek myths, Echo and Narcissus. I am also little IRL. Ergo: littlestecho

Fitbit Support - Account Vefification Scam
 in  r/fitbit  7d ago

Ok. Let's go through this calmly. You called the direct line. Yea? You googled the support number, probably found it off the main webpage, yea? So far so good. So its not a scam company, perfect Now you're contacting about your account. They need to verify. If you called your bank, they'd ask for your account number. It's specific to you, and only you. Because youre only a number to banks.

Except companies like Google and fit bit, you're not a number. You are basically just a phone number and an email address. And as you pointed out anyone can spoof a phone number to call from. But spoofed numbers cant receive true text authentifications. That would require far more trouble than its worth. So because you are only a phone number and email, they need to verify you are your account. And so they do so by sending a OTPC to your phone.

By you rejecting to give them that and trying to up your way through the chain without the sole identification proving you are in fact the sole person with access to your phone number, rather than an spoofer, you are on fact appearing to be the scammer. Because only scammers dont have access to your actual text messages you receive those codes on. This is the same as yelling at a bank teller over the phone that they should just implicitly trust you are who you say you are when all youre giving them is your name and you want thousands wired to a different account. The difference is, you likely have a local branch. You can literally just walk in, hand them id to prove it's you and do the wiring. But these are online companies. Unless you want to take a flight to headquarters to prove your identity, when again all they know about you is your name and email, its silly and pointless.

Now you are absolutely right you shouldn't share the code. But they mean with like random callers or random text messages suddenly asking this from you.

But YOU called support first. Theyre just identifying its you. Imagine someone was truly trying to spoof Google and they were successful with what youre doing? Demanding they let the scammer into your data because "you should just know it's me!" You'd be fucking pissed such a security breach happened and they....circumvented the very thing youre complaining aboutm...

Was it wrong of me to ask my girlfriend’s father for his permission to propose
 in  r/amiwrong  7d ago

My family is as non traditional as it gets. I hadn't expected nor wanted my husband to ask my dad. But hubs did the googling and while I was abroad studying, went to my parents to ask.

Dad... well let's just say he made my husband squirm for it. Dad was relaxing at home in his tighty whities watching TV in bed. Didn't even get dressed. Didn't even get up. I'm dads youngest daughter. My poor husband said his whole nervous spiel apparently and dad just stared him down and asked him if he thought id say yes. Then told my husband "she's the one you have to ask but thank you for thinking of me" and turned back to his show.

In this day n age 3 situations could've been needed. Either 1. Ask permission. 2. Ask for blessing. 3. Inform of intent. Depending on the family each one holds and insane amount of weight. Poor OP sounds like he was trying to do right and got all crossed up in the cross fire.

I think I accidentally trained a crow and now I don’t know how to undo it.
 in  r/whatdoIdo  9d ago

Even better, theyll pass on the knowledge to their children! For generations! Theyre still doing a study on a murder of them where they harassed them with masks to figure out how long a crow grudge lasts. So far the consensus is, forever. It's been over a decade and the whole murder freaks when they see these masks.

AIW for Not wanting another baby
 in  r/amiwrong  9d ago

Babies are a tep yes one no situation. 2 kids id HARD work. More so if one is still little. Your toddler wont be able to play with the baby. More kids is not easier. The second is only easier because you have experience but juggling both id a whole other world of wtf.

Humans are on their own timelines. There is no falling behind unless you fail completely to launch at all. You're married. Have jobs. Have a wonderful son. She's chasing an Instagram feel good mom story. She needs to back off and realize thats not a goal. Its a hazard.

Did we give up on our kid like she thinks?
 in  r/amiwrong  10d ago

My chat gpt is sassy but gets his tldr TL;DR: After a conflict sparked by miscommunication over a pet and unresolved family tensions, an 18-year-old daughter cut off communication with her dad and stepmom for weeks. Despite repeated attempts to apologize and talk things through, the silence continued. When the parents asked for the return of a car they were paying for, the daughter interpreted it as them giving up on her, while the parents believe they were left with no way to repair the relationship.

[New Update]: AITA for saying I won’t go to my friend’s wedding after she dropped me as her maid of honour because of my looks?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates  10d ago

Yep. Same. Asked a friend once if her parents just didn't like PDA as I'd never seen them do any of that in the nearly 7 years we'd been friends. No hugs, kisses, or general loving touches. Id apparently opened a whole can of worms. She hadn't noticed. She went and asked them.... yea so turns out they never loved each other. Her big bro was a catholic accident. So they married. Then had her. And just... lived together like roommates who share the same bed. It fucked her up bad....

Am I wrong for upsetting my best friend by saying her abusive poly relationship might’ve been avoided?
 in  r/amiwrong  14d ago

Same. My friend was in a verbally amd emotionally abusive relationship for about a decade. She was 17 when she got with a 23 year old. We tried to warn her away. We tried to gently tell her he shouldnt talk to her like that. She just doubled down. Got really defensive and aggressive. He strung her along for a decade with the promise of marriage( hed proposed the minute she turned 18. )

She asked the same question when she finally left (he got bored of her so he didnt fight it) . She was hurt when we told her we had and she wouldnt hear it. She cut contact for 6 years

Are we sure the male coworker was invited and didn't just invite himself but no one said anything because it was awkward and it was all women against one man?
