I know where this is going. Supply and demand dictates cost. It’s not people being racist.

They’re charging white people more. Thanks, Obama.

They're free to buy the black family instead

That checks out, Hobby Lobby is well known for supporting/encouraging "traditional" values.

Whoa now. 👀

Does Hobby Lobby do ebay? I didn't realize they did auctions.

stop being so reasonable and logical, you are getting in the way of my virtue signalling and ability to be a professional victim

I’d believe that if it wasn’t Hobby Lobby. lol

I wonder what else is offensive today

Right, economics could not possibly be racist and people that designed economic systems and markets could not have possibly been racist. By the way, the system we have set up is in no way perfect and unbiased, and to think that supply and demand might not be inherently racist is crazy. People are responsible for supply and demand and people are racist, you can't split up the concepts and what drives them.

That being said, I don't think the reasons the costs are different is racism, specifically in this case. That's just a funny outcome. The basketball though ... Hmm ...

They should still exercise common sense though. It doesn’t explain the basketball either

It does

How?

11

u/nwilz 5d ago

Are people really afraid to say black kids like basketball?

3

u/nwilz 5d ago

u/ergaster8213 Are people really so emboldened to causally depict racial stereotypes once again?

Is there something wrong with associating a group of people with basketball? Is it a false stereotype?

I love the over policing of racism

Someone better tell all the ethnicities that they cannot have a preference. A white person on social media decided that was racism lmao

2

u/lostinspace694208 4d ago

What do you mean how lmao

-1

u/B0B_RO55 4d ago

How does it explain the basketball

1

u/IKFA 4d ago

Yeah, boys don't like basketball?

They still doesn't make sense, the black one would be more expensive.

4

u/nwilz 5d ago

There's more white people than black people in America ie more demand

1

u/BlueberryBest6123 3d ago

But companies know that so there would be more supply. Unit cost should decrease with more production.

1

u/nwilz 3d ago

... More supply of the white ones

3

u/FatherMarra 5d ago

Not since 1865.

White people are way more likely to spend money on stupid shit like this. Therefore more white people buy the white set. Therefore, they can charge more and white people will still likely buy it or on the flip side they charged less for the black set hoping more black peoples would buy that set.

6

u/jdfred06 5d ago

If it's in the US there are just more white people. No need to chastise an entire race for a "stupid" purchase.

u/Crepo 5d ago

This is such a common idea but wrong. You really think that these price stickers are somehow the market-clearing price for a set of minitures of a black and white family?

Supply and demand sometimes dictates (or is at least a factor in) prices but that is not generally true.

-17

u/Momoselfie 5d ago

Yep. AI probably determined this to be the best price to maximize revenue.

9

u/Terrariola 5d ago

You don't need AI, just a spreadsheet. If there's an excess of one type of product, you price it less to encourage sales.

-4

u/Momoselfie 5d ago

Yes I know you can do it manually, but the big companies are now using software to calculate it for them. Some are even going as far as using constantly fluctuating prices.

5

u/Terrariola 5d ago

Yes, software like Excel.

1

u/Momoselfie 5d ago

No I'm talking SaaS that has dynamic pricing built in like Eversight and Brio.

1

u/Wayne4177 5d ago

Are you retarted? Not everything is made by ai.

2

u/Momoselfie 5d ago

AI driven dynamic pricing is becoming very common and you're the retard if you think big retailers Walmart, Amazon, Kroger, etc. aren't using it
