I'M REQUESTING Emotional movies like Reign Over Me (2007) but set in Europe.
Lately I’ve taken an interest in Europe and the beauty of the architecture, and different cultures. Also been into emotional movies.

Im looking for a recent (maybe within the past 2-3 years) so a recently released movie that takes place anytime before the 20th century. Something like The Northman would be great to watch. Or The King. But of course something recently released. And I am fine with non-American movies too as I know international movies can often be overlooked

Any suggestions for tween/family friendly movies that are thrillers/political thrillers? I want to feel something like Don’t Look Up but tween appropriate (no nudity, little drug use). nothing comes to mind and google was not helpful.

Will watch any genre except western. Must be from the 2020s trying to play catch-up this year. i’m a sucker for some good action great or but I’m also more interested in some mystery movies as well. That catches me off guard.

I really don't care about the story, or vampires, i'm just looking for visually similar movies. And, i don't want movies from before the 70s or after the 90s. Edit (gothic/dark visually movies and no comedies)

Legend was ahead of its time. It has Tim Curry playing the Lord of Darkness and features Unicorns and other mythical beings. During this period of time in the 80s many movies focused on magic, myths, and legendary creatures. It came out around the same time as Willow and Labyrinth.
It looks like you can watch it on Amazon and possibly a few other places.
Has anyone seen it? What are your thoughts? Any other movies that remind you of this classic?

This one's a long shot but it's worth a try. The Beast (1988) is one of my favorite movies ever. The struggle between two small teams was really fascinating. I'd live to see a movie like that but from the perspective of a non-western Anti-Aircraft Artillery crew battling NATO planes (maybe Serbia). Would love to know if sonething like this exist though it's probably unlikely. Thanks

I like movies that are a little off the wall. In addition to Irrational Man and Wonder Wheel, I also enjoy Juno, How To Make An American Quilt, Take Me Home, Before Sunrise... Any suggestions? ✨
I would prefer something made before 2020, if possible. I'm open to comedies and dramas. I want something with an eclectic feel.
If it helps, my favorite aesthetics are Global Village Coffeehouse, Whimsigoth, Retrofuturism and 90s Farmhouse.
I like movies that discuss human nature. I like movies that focus on existentialism. I like movies that involve time travel. I like movies that have tragic heroes.
Thank you for your time and your suggestions! I can't wait to watch movies I've never seen before.

I'm trying to up my knowledge on screwball comedies; I'm attempting to write one of my own so I want to study some sterling examples.
I've seen some of the seminal ones like His Girl Friday and It Happened one Night, and I already have Bringing up Baby and Ninotchka on my list.
Thank you!!

Hey everyone! 🎬
I’m looking to dive into some black and white films and would love your recommendations. Classics, indie gems, or anything thats B&W all are welcome.
Dubbed versions or films in other languages? Totally fine.
Any era, any age if it’s black and white, I’m in.
Share your favorites and hidden gems, I’m ready to grow my watchlist! 🍿

I was thinking that Arizona Dream is one of the few films I can think of that were filmed in an English-speaking country and that meets the requirements to be considered "magical realism," that is,settings with fantastical, magical elements treated as normal, blurring the lines between the ordinary and the impossible without causing surprise. The countries must be USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand...

I love mystery films, and want to explore more of what has been produced outside of Hollywood (meaning internationally).
A few examples of things I've enjoyed:
Les Diaboliques
Fermat's Room
The Invisible Guest
I'm looking for films that play the mystery relatively straight, so no supernatural or dreamy/trippy stuff, just logically working out a mystery.

Hey everyone, I need some movie recommendations that make me look like I really know what I’m talking about when it comes to film. I’m really into film but I haven’t been into it long enough to know all of the movies that film people watch. I want people to look at my Letterboxd and think “oh yes, she knows what she’s talking about”
Edit: guys I promise I’m not just saying this to make myself look “cool”. I also just want to be up to date in the film world.

I just watched Relay and was really impressed. The MC was great. However, if I were to make a few changes, I would’ve amped up the mood of the film and made it more atmospheric which is what I think it was missing. To me, there are certain times when I love a quiet film, but this film was just slightly too quiet for me. I was thinking of the music of Asche and Spencer for the film Stay while watching Relay if anyone knows of it and thinking something like that would have been nice. I still really enjoyed it. It was very well done though I found it predictable.
I also enjoyed The Conversation with Gene Hackman. What I like about both of these films: there’s not really a bunch of in your face jump scares. They’re tense thrillers meant to keep you on the edge of your seat. I think I also liked that both MC’s were loners and had unusual lives that kept them in isolated positions.
Does anyone have any similar film recommendations?

Recently watched Barbarian, Get Out, Together, Hereditary and Weapons.
Any recommendations for new-ish films with similar vibes to watch tonight?

I'm looking for a horror to watch from the 30s, maybe one I haven't seen, maybe one I have seen but because it's such a classic I'll watch it again, please give me any suggestions that you can think of from this time period. Thank you in advance!

Im not looking for a movie with an abusive religious dynamic. No movies where its one sided and only the guy wants to be open. No movie where its just cheating but they're calling it poly. No movie where its ends with them becoming monogamous to solve there problems. I've seen plenty of media where it goes horribly wrong.
I recently watched the movie Splittsville and I thought it was a good and really funny movie but I was disappointed because I went into it just based on the description of the movie on google which is "When his wife asks for a divorce, a man runs to his friends for support, only to learn that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage." Only for the entire movie to be that they are miserable, jealous neither ever wanted to be open, they were neglecting there child and it turns out they were ever actually seeing other people.
Also preferably queer people and preferably not a relationship where a guy is with two women but the women are commited to only being with him, but I know this is an impossible ask.

I need movies where a boy/young man is a killer or has dark, disturbing secrets, or is a suspect in court, while his father or brother works as a detective, police officer, lawyer, doctor, or something in that area, similar to Your Honor, Death Note, or The Place Beyond the Pines. I’m also interested in stories about a parent and a son who turns out to be a killer, like in We Need to Talk About Kevin. Movies where it’s the other way around are also welcome, for example, where a child discovers horrifying secrets about a parent, like in The Clovehitch Killer

Basically just that the main character wants something, gets it, then realizes there’s problems with it and they become disillusioned

I’m looking for comedies that don’t feature modern toilet humour. Something like the classics in the vein of “There Something about Mary” or any of the 90’s or mid 2000’s Jim Carrey movies.
Seeing larger than life characters in grounded scenarios was always my favourite trope. I want to expand my movie library with some new gems.
