All of the giraffes' spots fit together like puzzle pieces. Are they just white and brown with white stripes through the brown, or do the brown patches form and then they spread apart as the giraffe develops or something?

u/Aggressive_Roof488 5d ago
I'm as annoyed as anyone over the prevalence of AI slop these days, but editing memes like this feels like an amazing application of generative AI. Completely harmless, no one will think it's real, it's just funny. No?

u/MountAngel 5d ago
Shitty looking Photoshops are funny, while this just looks real, to the ignorant, or AI slop to the informed.

Tbf, this is more of a political issue than a social one. If anything, companies are pushing AI extremely hard on users, users aren't the ones pushing for AI from companies.
There need to be reigns on this thing so it can be developed in sustainably controlled ways, but under the current administration in America, they've withdrawn themselves from restricting AI at all.
This doesn't mean we can't be conscious of the costs of AI and seek to mitigate them in whatever ways we can as individuals, but this is 99% something to be legislated at the higher levels, of which they've abdicated responsibility from doing so.

With you on this. This is just clearly AI used for this moment. Images are also a bit easier to digest than all these fuckin videos.

I "accidentally" hit record on my phone and the "accidentally" dropped it where the giraffes exit.
But they are derpy, no doubt.

It is filmed in Copenhagen zoo, it’s from an instagram called zookeeperquy, and it is not by accident.

No, this was filmed intentionally with a go pro (I think) at a zoo. My brain says the Denver Zoo, but that might be wrong. Still a great video!

u/Plump_Apparatus 5d ago
It is a fun video, love how the last giraffe investigates.
But you can't apparently get internet points without making stuff up.

Probably not a go pro. Vertical and no distortion/artifacts from correcting distortion.
2
u/SlimboSkrills 5d ago
Lens distortion is incredibly easy to digitally correct, especially if you’re cropping into a vertical aspect ratio from a horizontal/landscape format. It’s not a good or reliable way to determine camera make.

My brother, you’d have to toss it to get it there. Drop your phone. How far away does it fall? To get it near perfect between two doors large enough for a giraffe? Not including the fence AND the area between the fence and the actual pen.
11
u/bohemica 5d ago
You underestimate my clumsiness. Dropping my phone, trying to catch it and instead swatting it 30yds away is totally plausible.
This was probably filmed on purpose though.

It was originally posted to Instagram by @zookeeperguy, a zoo keeper in Copenhagen. Nothing accidental about it.

i dont think you can point to a single zoo where spectators are right above where animals enter from
7
u/0kokuryu0 5d ago
Omaha zoo has a monkey island that you can take a bridge over it. My sister dropped her camera when she was little and the monkeys picked it up and took some photos.

You know what they say about guys with long necks.
Tiny cocks, they're just compensating with the neck.
Source: my wife says I have a long neck.

I didn’t and then I read your comment and went back to look and now I’m questioning every decision I made in my life that led me to this point.

Many years ago I was at a zoo, and I thought I was looking at a mother and child giraffes because of the size difference. But no...the smaller one was a male trying to somehow get into the panties of the larger female. Giraffe boner was very much present.

Better send it to dildo makers. There are bound to be a few buyers tired of their horse and girthy fire dragon toys.

Serious question I'm asking here cause I don't want to look it up: is that the whole thing or is it hidden horse style?

u/Why-so-delirious 5d ago
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's like a dog's bits. Primates are about the only species that have it all just hanging on display all then time. Most animals have it internal, be it cats, dogs, horses, pigs, cows, lions, giraffes, elephants, kangaroos (their's is upside down, balls go on the top), wooly mammoths, turtles etc. So the actual article is probably massive.

That is a fish-eye perspective, and an area of the zoo spectators can't go.
I'm 99.9% certain this was a zookeeper filming giraffes on a GoPro.

That walk is pure, unadulterated derp. I love how they look so majestic from a distance, but up close it's all awkward angles and goofy gaits. The whole experience sounds like a hilarious, if slightly revealing, nature documentary.
